This will be the first hosting gig for both Pratt and Silverman, with the latter having been a cast member on the venerable sketch series during the 1993-1994 season. While this will also be Grande’s first time as a musical guest on Saturday Night Live, Maroon 5 have appeared on the show four times before; each musical act has released an album within the past month that will be promoted on the show. Grande hit number one for the second time with My Everything, which features three top 10 hits, while Maroon 5 celebrated their second number one album with the release of V, the latter being home to top 10 hit “Maps”.

During the hiatus between seasons 39 and 40, Saturday Night Live has made some casting changes, dropping John Milhiser, Nasim Pedrad, Noel Wells, and Brooks Wheelan. There’s no word yet about additions to the cast this season, though the show began their search for new talent last month. Last season saw the addition of eight featured players to the cast, including Weekend Update anchor Colin Jost and Sasheer Zamata, who successfully auditioned following controversy surrounding Saturday Night Live‘s lack of diversity.

The 40th season of Saturday Night Live is set to premiere September 27th at 11:30 on NBC.

Tina and Amy were co-anchors on the ‘Weekend Update’ special on Saturday Night Live’s from 2004 to 2006 and co-hosted this year’s Golden Globes award show. It was being assumed lately that the Hollywood Foreign Press Association and Dick Clark Productions, the producer of award show, were having talks with the duo. According to Paul Telegdy, the President of late night programming on NBC, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are the most gifted comic performers/writers in the comedy show business and that the duo played a major role in Globes’ enormous success this year. He further said that the channel is enthralled by learning that both of them will be hosting Golden Globes for another two consecutive years.

When asked the pair about hosting the Oscars, Fey put all speculations to rest by saying that it is a huge task to sing and dance and do the pre-taped segments, etc. Theo Kingma, the HFPA President also said that the return of the ladies on the Globes will ensure another fun-filled and the most entertaining award ceremonies of the next year.

Fey and Poehler also appeared in the Emmy’s last month, for a brief opener with the Emmy host, Neil Patrick Harris. Allen Shapiro, CEO, Dick Clark Productions added that the pair has unbelievable chemistry and when they get together on the stage, putting up a charismatic show.

Apparently, everyone is thrilled and can’t wait to see the duo on stage again. What’s your take on the pair?

This will be Fey’s fourth hosting gig for SNL since her departure as a regular cast member in 2006.

Arcade Fire will be the musical guest for the night, when the show returns on September 28^th.

Also hosting SNL during the upcoming season will be Miley Cyrus (who will also be the musical act) on October 5^th, and Bruce Willis on October 12^th.  Katy Perry will be accompanying Willis as the musical guest.

-Beginning Tuesday, April 30, NBC will release new installments of its axed dating series Ready for Love on a weekly basis via NBC.com, VOD, iTunes, Amazon, Hulu and more. The series finale is set for June 3rd.

-Also getting a chance to play out the rest of their episodes are ABC’s Zero Hour, returning to the schedule on June 15th at 8:00 with a two-hour premiere and signing off on August 3rd with a two-hour finale, and NBC’s Do No Harm, which will return Saturdays at 10:00 from June 29th through August 24th.

–Saturday Night Live has announced its final three hosts of the season, with comedian Zach Galifianakis returning on May 4th with musical guest Of Monsters and Men, while former cast member Kristen Wiig will host for the first time since her departure on May 11th with musical guest Vampire Weekend and Oscar winner Ben Affleck closes out the season with Kanye West on May 18th.

-Comedy Central has renewed The Jeselnik Offensive and Nathan for You for second seasons. The former is set to return in July, while the latter is on hold until 2014.

-NBC has announced plans for a one-hour retrospective special for The Office, set to feature exclusive and original interviews with writers, producers and actors from the award-winning series. The special will air Thursday, May 16th at 8:00 and lead into the one-hour series finale at 9:00.

-FX has put animated comedy Bigfoot, executive produced by Seth Rogen, into development. Based on Graham Roumieu’s Bigfoot “autobiography” graphic novels, the project revolves around the bipolar sasquatch trying to fit in in both the human and animal worlds.
