“Pretty Little Liars has taken its place in the zeitgeist and reigns supreme in pop culture,” said Tom Ascheim, president, ABC Family. “I am glad to bring another two seasons to our audience because ‘A’ has a lot in store for our Liars.”

The #1 ABC Family series in total viewers, Adults 18-34, Women 18-34, and Women 18-49, among other demo victories, Pretty Little Liars holds the record as the most-tweeted scripted series telecast of all time, and across all genres, it holds 7 of the Top 15 most-tweeted series telecasts ever. No episode counts have been released for the sixth and seventh seasons, though the show has stayed between 22-25 episodes and there’s no compelling reason, bar a ratings collapse, for seasons six and seven to fall short.

What ABC Family has to do, though, is find a show that can gain some ratings traction behind Pretty Little Liars. That might be difficult considering the show’s social media status and how engaged its fan base is, meaning that those who watch Pretty Little Liars tend to watch, tweet along, and spend the hours after the show dissecting theories rather than watching the series ABC Family slots into the 9:00 hour. Thus far, the network has tried to closely parallel Liars with series like Twisted and The Lying Game, as well as counterprogram with lighter fare like Jane by Design, but nothing has fully taken advantage of having such a strong lead-in. With the lukewarm sampling of latest Tuesday drama Chasing Life, it seems that ABC Family might be in the hunt for another Liars companion sooner rather than later.

On Tuesday, June 10th, the fifth season of Pretty Little Liars premieres at 8:00, with new drama Chasing Life to follow at 9:00. The series, which already received a back order and will have a 20-episode first season, follows April (Italia Ricci), an ambitious 20-something journalist whose life is looking up. She’s got the career that she wants; she has an excellent relationship with her family; and she’s formed a connection with a co-worker that could turn into something special. However, the life path that she had in mind becomes all the more twisty when she learns that she has cancer from her oncologist uncle. In addition to Ricci, Chasing Life stars Mary Paige Keller, Rebecca Schull, Richard Brancatisano, Steven Weber, and Scott Michael Foster.

Monday, June 16th will see the return of Switched at Birth at 8:00 and the second season premiere of The Fosters at 9:00. The former will pick up the day after the events of the winter finale, with Kathryn dealing with the reality of being a herotica novelist and Regina feeling torn between her old neighborhood and her new life, while the latter finds Callie and Jude adjusting to their new roles in the family.

The network will be premiering two new comedies this summer in Young & Hungry and Mystery Girls. The former, to debut Wednesday, June 25th at 8:00, follows Gabi (Emily Osment), a food blogger who becomes the personal chef of wealthy young entrepreneur Josh (Jonathan Sadowski). The series also stars Rex Lee, Aimee Carrero, and Kym Whitley. At 8:30 will be Mystery Girls, the tale of two former TV detectives brought back together by a real life mystery. Starring on Mystery Girls will be Tori Spelling as Holly, a starlet longing for her glory days; Jennie Garth as Charlie, a suburban wife and mother who has put her days of fame behind her; and Miguel Pinzon as Nick, a Mystery Girls super fan who witnesses a crime and will only speak to Holly and Charlie.

The supernatural drama had been given a straight-to-series order last year, but never reached the success of it’s inspiration, PLL.  The cancellation means that the show’s February 4th episode not only completed the 10-episode freshman season, but also the series.

Ravenswood focused on a town in Pennsylvania, which has been under a curse for generations.  Five strangers found themselves connected by this curve and set to investigating the town’s mysterious history.

Following the cut, ABC Family’s scripted drama’s include: Switched at Birth, Twisted, The Fosters and upcoming Chasing Life.

Ravenswood – “Revival”

Tuesday, January 7th will see the premieres of Pretty Little Liars and Twisted. The former, whose summer finale became the #1 “most social” TV series episode in history, will find the Liars struggling to make sense of the events in their life this past year and witnessing the darker side of Ezra. A Pretty Little Liars Halloween special is set to air Tuesday, October 22nd at 8:00, while an eight-hour marathon will precede the season premiere. The latter returns for the second half of its first season, which ended with Danny running away from home when he found out the police were on their way. While he has now implicated himself in the court of public opinion, Jo continues to deal with how much Danny and Lacey kept from her and Tess calls Vik back to town only to find out that the Desai family was hiding more than she knew. A seven-hour marathon of the series will air on Wednesday, January 1st.

Monday, January 13th finds Switched at Birth returning for a third season that begins with Daphne and Bay entering their senior year at Carlton. What should be a time of excitement, though, gets dampened by the school taking on hearing students who aren’t exactly thrilled to be there. Elsewhere, Toby gets a coaching position that could help draw the student body together, Bay begins working at the free clinic as a part of her probation, Daphne enrolls herself in a college art class, and the parents begin feeling the first pangs of empty nest syndrome. At 9:00 the same night, The Fosters kicks off the second half of its first season with the family still reeling from Callie’s decision to run away to Indiana with Wyatt. As Jesus and Lexi are also dealing with the loss of Lexi, who moved to Honduras with her parents, Lena must find it within herself to make peace with Stef’s decision to return to the force.

Pretty Little Liars – “Grave New World” (8:00)
Aria, Emily, Hanna and Spencer crash the Ravenswood Founders Day Celebration after finding a clue in “A’s” new lair that Ali may indeed be alive. Dressed in their finest Edwardian wear, the ladies hit the creepy cemetery party to find Ali before “A” can. But if Ali is truly alive, could the PLLs be leading “A” straight to their friend without knowing it? With Ezra lurking in the shadows, “A” may be closer than the girls realize.

Ravenswood – “Ravenswood” (9:00)
After opting to stay in Ravenswood to help out new pal Miranda, Caleb begins to rethink his decision, especially after he meets Miranda’s cold and unwelcoming uncle Raymond (Steven Cabral). Caleb also has some unpleasant interactions with local resident Luke (Brett Dier), who is struggling to deal with a recent family tragedy and its ensuing scandal, which has also swept up his twin sister Olivia (Merritt Patterson). Unnerved by what they witnessed the night of the party, and besieged by strange and supernatural occurrences, Caleb and Miranda begin to investigate this bizarre town. Their first ally is Ravenswood teen Remy (Britne Oldford), who has a keen insight to the town’s peculiar history and has started connecting some troublesome dots. These five teens have no idea how connected their lives are and the plans that Ravenswood has in store for them.

The Halloween episode of Pretty Little Liars is set to air Tuesday, October 22nd at 8:00 on ABC Family, while the series premiere of Ravenswood will follow at 9:00. You can check out the official trailer for the latter here.

-Sherri Shepherd has been tapped to host the second season of NickMom Night Out, the stand-up comedy series on NickMom. Taped in front of a live studio audience and taking moms out for a night at the comedy club from the comfort of their couches at home, previous hosts of Night Out include Tisha Campbell-Martin, Caroline Rhea, Judy Gold, and Bonnie McFarlane. The fledgling network also renewed talk show Parental Discretion with Stefanie Wilder-Taylor for a second season.

-ABC Family has announced a Pretty Little Liars recap special to air Tuesday, June 4th at 8:00. Pretty Little Liars: A LiArs Guide to Rosewood encompasses all three previous seasons of the twisty mystery and will recap the Liars’ history with “A” from the very first text message to the most recent spotting of Red Coat. The fourth season of the show premieres the following week.

-On Sunday, May 12th at 9:00, E! will be airing Holly Has a Baby, a one-hour special that follows former Playmate Holly Madison and boyfriend Pasquale Rotella as they prepare for the arrival of their baby, move into a new home, and eventually welcome daughter Rainbow into the world.

-HBO is set to air Life’s Too Short Special on Friday, July 5th. The special is meant to wrap up the journey of actor Warwick Davis, a little person trying to hustle his way back into the spotlight. The seven-episode season of the Ricky Gervais creation began airing in February 2012.

–Cops has moved to Spike TV and will begin airing episodes there this September. The show, which recently ended its 25th season, was a major building block for FOX in its early days and continued to put up respectable business on Saturdays for years. The move follows fellow former Saturday staple America’s Most Wanted in hopping networks, though that show didn’t last long in its new home at Lifetime. Spike TV is said to be keeping Cops on Saturday nights at 8:00 for its upcoming 26th season.

-“Storm Front”, the next installment in the Derrick Storm eBook trilogy, will be released Tuesday, May 21st. In the thriller, Derrick Storm taking on his old nemesis who is trying to destroy the global economy and unleash untold worldwide chaos.
