ABC reveals its 2014 schedule Tuesday, May 13th. They’re currently the only network that has yet to give an early renewal to one of their veteran shows, though the likes of Once Upon a Time, Grey’s Anatomy, and Scandal are all locks for a spot on the 2014-2015 schedule.

The show’s April 3rd airing, which has previously been labeled the season finale, is now being billed as the series finale – the final episode of the Once spin-off – a move that is not entirely surprising.

However, there is always the slim possibility that this particular cancellation only means there will be no continuation of a Wonderland setting.  Since the show’s premiere in the fall there has been chatter among fans and critics alike that the show has the ability to become a mini-series a la American Horror Story, with different, self-contained plots each season.

Though not as successful as its predecessor, Once Upon a Time, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland has garnered attention from fans for its single main plot with interconnected characters who, unlike on Once, are not all one big family.  The show has been notably far less self-indulgent than its sister-show in its plot, and of course, simpler.

Though Cora’s life came to an end on OUAT, after attempting to ruin well, everyone’s life, fans have been hoping since the pickup of the sister show for her to make an appearance in Wonderland.  According to TV Guide, series creators Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz have stated to introduce her character to Alice’s world…and now it’s official.

Currently Hershey is scheduled to appear in just one episode of Wonderland, set for March.  Aside from a meet with Alice, who else would you like to see the Queen of Hearts take on, in the delightfully evil Cora-way?  The Red Queen?  Jafar?

Knowing the Disney tale, I for one would be like to see the relationship between the Queen of Hearts and our friend the White Rabbit.

Will someone lose their head?

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland 

According to TVLine, Whoopi Goldberg will be the voice of Mrs. Rabbit in the drama’s eighth episode, in both the current storyline and in a flashback to the infamous OCD Rabbit’s past.

John Lithgow (Third Rock from the Sun) is currently a series regular as the White Rabbit.  The rest of Wonderland‘s voice cast includes Keith David as the Cheshire Cat and rocker Iggy Pop as the Caterpillar.  Both of the latter have yet to be seen again since the pilot, but will no doubt be returning soon.

Goldberg’s previous voice work includes Disney films such as Toy Story 3 (Stretch the octopus) and most famously The Lion King (Shenzi the hyena), as well as others.

Once Upon a Time in Wonderland airs Thursdays at 8/7c PM ET on ABC.

In addition to Lowe, Once Upon a Time in Wonderland stars Michael Socha (This Is England) as the Knave of Hearts, who gets tasked with giving Alice a hopeful message meant to encourage her return to Wonderland; Peter Gadiot (Night Wolf) as Cyrus, a genie Alice meets while in Wonderland; Emma Rigby (Prisoners’ Wives) as the malicious Red Queen; and John Lithgow (Dexter) as the voice of the White Rabbit.

The series premiere of Once Upon a Time in Wonderland is set to air Thursday, October 10th at 8:00 on ABC. It’s the fourth new series that ABC has prematurely released at least a portion of the pilot of this fall, following in the footsteps of Back in the Game, Trophy Wife, and The Goldbergs. Though releasing a pilot early has become something of a norm in the television industry, it should be interesting to see what happens when a sizeable chunk is released and if the anticipation for a conclusion can make people tune in live.
