MTV has announced its plans for 2013 San Diego Comic-Con and aside from a single panel, the network will be hosting several different events throughout the weekend. There’ll be a weekend-long live stream that will give fans inside access to the convention, interviews with some of the biggest stars in attendance, and a report from panels and press rooms, as well as a party in the park on Thursday, July 18th hosted by MTV2 and featuring musical performances and free food.
In addition, MTV Comics is set to host a live pitch competition on Saturday, July 19th that challenges three top creators to formulate a pitch based on a single topic given to them a few weeks in advance. Fans will then vote for the winner; there’ll also be a signing of MTV Comics’ first graphic novel, written by Tony Lee (Doctor Who) and illustrated by Dan Boultwood. Taking place in the 1940s, “The Gloom!” finds our eponymous hero as America’s last line of defense against the Nazis and features classic pulp heroism.
The network’s lone panel this year will begin on Thursday, July 18th with Teen Wolf’s return to Comic-Con. Tyler Posey, Dylan O’Brien, Tyler Hoechlin, Crystal Reed, Holland Roden, Daniel Sharman, Max Carver, Charlie Carver and Executive Producer Jeff Davis will be giving fans a look at an exclusive new trailer and scoop about the remainder of season three.
You can check out the other shows that will be heading to Comic-Con this year here, here, and here. The weekend convention kicks off on Wednesday, July 17th with a special preview night before panels begin on July 18th and extend through July 21st.
