Showtime has released the opening credits for upcoming relationship drama The Affair. Set to Fiona Apple’s “Container,” which was based around a previously unreleased song in her vault that she reworked in accordance to the show’s narrative, the sequence focuses heavily on the waters of the Atlantic Ocean.
Created by playwright Sarah Treem and Hagai Levi (In Treatment), The Affair follows history teacher Noah (Dominic West) and grieving waitress Alison (Ruth Wilson) as they have a chance encounter in a diner that turns into something more than either of them could have predicted. In the other, they find something that they’re missing in their own lives, yet pursuing that missing link is something that could cause everything around them to crumble. In addition to West and Wilson, The Affair stars Maura Tierney (ER) as Noah’s wife Helen, the mother of his four children, and Joshua Jackson (Fringe) as Alison’s rancher husband Cole.
