Starz has released another extended trailer for upcoming period drama Outlander, which is based on the bestselling novel series by Diana Gabaldon and adapted for television by Battlestar Galactica‘s Ronald Moore.
Outlander follows newlywed World War II nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) as she finds herself transported through time, landing in 18th century Scotland. In order to protect herself and giving herself the chance to make it home, she aligns herself with warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan), only to soon realize that she’s developing feelings for him. Originally, Claire wanted nothing more than to escape from Scotland, reunite with her new husband, and start the life that she thought she always wanted, but now that she’s living the adventure she didn’t know she needed, she’s not in as much of a hurry to make it back home.
In addition to Balfe and Heughan, Outlander stars the likes of Lotte Verbeek (The Borgias), Tobias Menzies (Rome), and Graham McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey).
The series premiere of Outlander airs Saturday, August 9th at 9:00 on Starz. You can check out another trailer for the series, which will be made available a week before its official television premiere, here.
