tremeMore than three years after Hurricane Katrina decimated New Orleans, things aren’t getting any better. Corruption at NOPD still remains as prevalent as ever; the hit that the city’s tourism industry took with the storm has yet to fully heal, crippling the once vibrant economy; and safety for the city’s residents is not a guaranteed thing with the rate of violent incidents and general criminality above what anyone is comfortable with. However, for all the trials and tribulations that the citizens of New Orleans have faced over the past 38 months, the one thing that has kept them sane has been the culture that they themselves have a hand in both creating and shaping. Through music, art, and food, New Orleans may not be as strong as she once was, but she’s still got quite a bit of fight left in her.
