2014 May Sweeps extend from April 24th through May 21st, while NBC will unveil its 2014-2015 schedule Sunday, May 11th. The networks that have yet to reveal their season finale dates (ABC, FOX, and CBS) should be doing so in the coming weeks, likely around the same time summer schedules come out.

It’s another sign of faith in The Blacklist from NBC, the network opting to air three January episodes of the procedural thriller rather than taking it off the air for an extended hiatus a’la Revolution. Following installments on January 13th, 20th, and 27th, the show will go into a hiatus of around one month and air out the rest of its first season with The Voice. Given the show’s recent ratings performances, as well as the fact that it’s set records with its DVR viewing seemingly every week and that it’s much less serialized than Revolution, it seems likely that The Blacklist will be able to do well for itself without The Voice and find itself able to survive a hiatus much better than the sophomore sci-fi drama did. But the main question is whether or not NBC should try to use its ratings momentum come spring to boost a midseason show or keep The Blacklist with The Voice so that said momentum could last as long as possible.

The Blacklist airs Mondays at 10:00 on NBC. The series is the second 2014-2015 renewal that has been announced this fall, as FOX opted to renew Sleepy Hollow for a second 13-episode season rather than giving its first season a nine-episode extension.

“The many layers of Red Reddington and his mysterious reasons for getting into bed with the FBI seem to be fascinating to fans of this show,” said President of NBC Entertainment Salke. “With great talent like James Spader and Megan Boone on board, as well our stellar executive producers and the whole cast and crew, we believe this outstanding series will continue to make NBC a big destination on Monday nights.”

As with Revolution last season, The Blacklist has helped keep NBC Mondays very strong, though its broader appeal and procedural elements should prevent it from collapsing in the way Revolution did later in the season. Even if it does come to Earth a little more and hit the 2’s in the 18-49 demographic, NBC has much bigger problems and more difficult nights to attend to, meaning that the bottom would have to completely drop out of the series for it to not make it to another season. While Castle is a steady performer, the bigger question mark comes from CBS, where Hostages hasn’t done well; depending on what they do and whether a new series could launch on what has become a weak night for them, The Blacklist could solidify itself as a time slot winner for the rest of the season.

In addition to Spader, The Blacklist stars Megan Boone, Diego Klattenhoff, Harry Lennix, Ryan Eggold, and Parminder Nagra.

The Blacklist airs Mondays at 10:00 on NBC.

The core of the Friday lineup won’t be returning until Friday, October 25th, when Grimm will debut its third season at 9:00 and Dracula begins NBC’s test of low cost international co-productions at 10:00. Until they debut, Fridays will likely be the land of repeats and Dateline, which has its season premiere on September 27th before shifting to 8:00 once Grimm and Dracula arrive.

Among the other later debuts of the season are The Biggest Loser (October 8th), returning to the fall with a one-hour edition; Blair Underwood cop drama Ironside (October 2nd); interracial marriage comedy Welcome to the Family (October 3rd); and Sean Hayes vehicle Sean Saves the World (October 3rd).
