Starz has released the first official trailer for upcoming crime drama Power. The series, created by The Good Wife‘s Courtney Kemp Agboh and executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, follows James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Omari Hardwick), owner of one of the most prolific night clubs in New York City. In addition to becoming a known figure around the city’s social scene, Ghost is happily married, extremely well-off financially, and setting his sights on the Fortune 500. However, one thing is stopping him from achieving true happiness – he’s living a double life.
Ghost is a major player in one of the city’s biggest illegal drug networks, making his future not his to decide. A lot of people depend on him performing and using his reach at the club to expand their client base, yet he’s decided that he wants to go legit and leave his sordid past behind. He’s tired of having to balance his two selves and keep things from those he loves, so with the considerable income he’s earned from his time in the drug game, Ghost has enough financial security to exit the network and go his own way. Except when he tries to leave, those who work under, with, and around him aren’t so quick to let him go, not when he could easily rat them out if the feds come knocking at his door and not when he has the life that so many of them are looking to build.
In addition to Hardwick, Power stars Naturi Naughton (The Client List), Joseph Sikora (Boardwalk Empire), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), Kathrine Narducci (The Sopranos), and Lela Loren (Gang Related).
The series premiere of Power is set to air this summer on Starz.
Will you be watching Power? Do you think Ghost can find a way out of the drug game without leaving too many bodies behind? What will he have to give up to go legit and pursue his ambitions?
