Upcoming Starz crime drama Power has added Naturi Naughton (The Client List), Lela Loren (The Shield), and Joseph Sikora (Boardwalk Empire) to its cast, which is fronted by Dark Blue‘s Omari Hardwick. Naughton is set to play Tasha, the wife and accomplice of the main character, while Loren will portray Angela, an ex of the main character who reenters his life; Sikora, meanwhile, will play Tommy, the main character’s childhood best friend and current business partner.
From The Good Wife‘s Courtney Kemp Agboh, Power tells the story of James “Ghost” St. Patrick (Hardwick), an ambitious nightclub owner in New York. Eager to build both a name for himself and an empire mighty enough to match his reputation, he can’t exactly embrace his big ideas due to living a double life as the kingpin of a lucrative drug network. Being that his leadership of the drug ring has been one of the reasons for its growth, it’s unlikely that anyone will let him just get out of the game that easily. Can Ghost find the normal life that he so desperately craves?
In addition to her role on the Lifetime drama, Naughton has appeared on the likes of The Playboy Club, Mad Men, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, while Loren’s TV credits include Lost, Covert Affairs, and Chuck. Sikora currently stars on Adult Swim’s The Heart, She Holler and has been featured on Rubicon, White Collar, and Dollhouse.
Production on the eight-episode first season of Power will begin this fall for a premiere sometime in 2014. The series will be one of at least three new entries for the network next year, as pirate drama Black Sails bows in January and the Starz adaptation of Outlander is currently in production.
Does Power sound like a show you would watch? Will the show fit in with the network’s decidedly fantasy-heavy lineup of original series? What do you think about the casting of Naughton, Loren, and Sikora?
