FOX has made a majority of its decisions on its 2013-2014 schedule, with the fate of comedies Surviving Jack and Dads still to be decided. While the former’s situation is cloudy, the latter’s renewal chances have apparently improved recently, putting its chance at renewal much higher than they were when it had its episode order cut and finished its season on a down note. In addition to already ordered Backstrom, Hieroglyph, and Gotham, FOX has two dramas currently in development: Red Band Society, about a group of teenagers living in a hospital, and Empire, a sprawling look at the world of hip hop music.

Almost Human starred Karl Urban (The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King) as John Kennex, a detective who loses his leg and becomes outfitted with a synthetic limb. Once he awakens after a 17-month coma, he realizes that he has to work with Dorian (Michael Ealy), a robot, and slowly, the two find that they have more common ground than they initially thought. In addition to Ealy and Urban, the series starred Minka Kelly, Lili Taylor, Michael Irby, and Mackenzie Crook.

FOX will reveal its 2014 schedule Monday, May 12th.

“Over the course of nine seasons, Bones has grown from a hit crime procedural into a beloved pillar of our lineup that resonates with fans in a way that only the best of shows can,” said Reilly. “Our viewers have embraced Emily, David and the entire cast and characters of Bones as their very own, and I think they are going to love what Hart Hanson and Stephen Nathan have planned for Season 10!”

Additionally, FOX will move Bones back to Mondays beginning March 10th at 8:00, where it will slide in for Almost Human following the sci-fi cop drama’s first season finale the previous week. The network is using Bones as a way to give flailing The Following a boost after the Kevin Bacon drama plummeted in the ratings in the second episode of the reason; while a drop was to be expected in the episode proceeding the show’s NFL-fueled season premiere, the show lost over half its audience in the span of eight days. The second episode did air without a lead-in, though, and Bones should provide the stability to boost it into a third season.

The network will also premiere the next season of Kitchen Nightmares on Friday, February 28th at 8:00, meaning that moving Enlisted to 9:00 ultimately might not matter. Kitchen Nightmares is no slouch in the ratings and a reality series leading into a comedy could conceivably have a strong flow, but Bones is generally higher rated and could have given Enlisted the type of push it needs to get its ratings within shouting distance of renewal-ready. Without it, the military comedy’s chances have only become bleaker.

He gets a new lease, though, when he’s introduced to Dorian (Michael Ealy), a discontinued android with emotional problems. Every cop must partner with a robot and while John may be uncomfortable with the idea, he finds that he relates to Dorian since they’re both “flawed” half-man, half-machine at this point. The series, created by Fringe‘s J.H. Wyman and produced by J.J. Abrams, is said to focus on both the weekly missions of John and Dorian as they team together to fight crime and the mystery of the attack on John that left his then-partner dead.

In addition to Urban and Ealy, Almost Human stars Lili Taylor (Hemlock Grove) as John’s longtime ally Captain Sandra Maldonado; Mackenzie Crook (Game of Thrones) as technician Rudy Lom, who introduces John to Dorian; Minka Kelly (Friday Night Lights) as starstruck Detective Valerie Stahl; and Michael Irby (The Unit) as distrustful Detective Richard Paul.

The series premiere of Almost Human is set to air Sunday, November 17th at 8:00 on FOX, with another episode airing at its regular time the following day.
