Jack confessing to being Lou Mrozek’s murderer seems like the act of a man who wants to atone for his sins and sacrifice himself for the good of his family. Already on the outs with Elaine and the kids, he had been feeling as if they were moving on with their lives without him and that they were going to hold his adulterous relationship with Sara against him for the foreseeable future. As such, giving himself up to the criminal justice system, the system that he manipulated time and time again for Karsten, allows him to punish himself for what he did with Sara and what he did while working for Thatcher, all in hopes of getting back in the good graces of Val, Elaine, and Victor.
On the next episode of Betrayal, Sara has taken news of the confession hard and, not believing that Jack could go as far as murdering someone in cold blood, decides to retrace her past with the attorney to find the evidence necessary to clear him of all charges. At least part of her desire to keep Jack out of prison has to do with the fact that she didn’t want the crumbling of her marriage with Drew to be in vein, but Sara also knows that Jack was with her at the time the murder and could not be the one who killed Lou. With all the legal infractions that he committed while under Karsten’s wing, though, it might not even matter that he wasn’t behind the murder, as the feds could gather enough evidence to make at least one charge stick to him and keep him in prison for quite a while. Is the evidence necessary to clear Jack of murder charges out there? And can Sara find it before the feds have time to do their due diligence?
Elsewhere on Betrayal, Elaine, Val, TJ, and Victor try to come to terms with a future without Jack, while the truth about Lou’s murder finally becomes clear.
Betrayal airs Sundays at 10:00 on ABC.
Do you think that Jack killed Lou Mrozek? If he didn’t, why would he confess to a crime that he didn’t commit? How will the confession impact both his relationship with Sara and his connection to Elaine and the kids?
