TVLine is reporting that Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce series regular Janeane Garofalo (Criminal Minds: Suspect Behavior) will exit the Bravo original scripted series. She’s slated to continue filming on the dramedy into October, with the departure cited as a natural evolution of the character and a key series plot point.
Based on the Vicki Iovine novels of the same name and developed for television by Marti Noxon (Buffy the Vampire Slayer), Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce stars Lisa Edelstein (House) as self-help author Abby, who has built an empire on her meticulously cultivated public image and her writings about marriage. However, when it’s revealed that she’s separating from her husband, Abby must fight to keep the career she worked so hard to build from crumbling around her while motivating herself to enter the dating pool for the first time in a decade. Garofalo portrayed Lyla, a good friend of Abby’s who also served as her entertainment lawyer, while the series also stars the likes of Beau Garrett (Made of Honor), Paul Adelstein (Scandal), and Necar Zadegan (Rake).
In addition to her role on the Criminal Minds spin-off, Garofalo’s television credits include Inside Amy Schumer, Delocated, and 24.
Girlfriends’ Guide to Divorce is set to premiere Tuesday, December 2nd at 10:00 on Bravo. You can check out a series trailer here.
