PowerStarz has announced that crime drama Power, executive produced by Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, has been renewed for an expanded second season. Rather than another eight-episode installment, the second season of Power will consist of 10 episodes.

“I am so grateful to Chris Albrecht, Carmi Zlotnik, and everyone at Starz for their support of Power. I am thrilled and excited to have the opportunity to create a season two that we plan to be bigger and better than the first,” shared series creator Courtney Kemp Agboh (The Good Wife).

Starring Omari Hardwick (Being Mary Jane), Power tells the story of entrepreneur James “Ghost” St. Patrick, owner and operator of the hottest nightclub in New York City. He has a beautiful wife, an enviable residence, and grand aspirations to one day head a Fortune 500 company, which, with the connections he’s made recently, is looking like something within the realm of possibility. However, one thing very few know is that the club is actually a front for a large-scale drug network, with Ghost’s fortune made through strictly illegitimate channels.

Yet Ghost is tired from years as a hustler and doesn’t want to continue living such a dangerous life that could threaten his freedom and those he loves, so he’s putting feelers out for a potential exit from the network. What he doesn’t realize, though, is that leaving would threaten his relationship with his wife, who has gotten used to the type of lifestyle that a city-wide drug ring can provide, and further endanger his family, since there are many people who benefit from the existence of Ghost’s network. And those people are more than willing to go to any means necessary in order to keep the status quo going for as long as possible.

In addition to Hardwick, Power stars Naturi Naughton (The Client List), Joseph Sikora (Boardwalk Empire), Lela Loren (Gang Related), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), and Kathrine Narducci (The Sopranos).

Power airs Saturdays at 9:00 on Starz. You can watch the series premiere here.
