The first episode of upcoming ABC baseball comedy Back in the Game has been made available for viewing on Hulu, the , and the WATCH ABC app for smart phones and tablets several weeks before its television premiere.
The series follows former softball star Terry Gannon, Jr. (Maggie Lawson) as she moves back home with her father Terry “The Cannon” Gannon, Sr. (James Caan) after her marriage didn”t work out. Although the financial support from him has been invaluable as she figures out the next course her life will take, Terry is having to keep her father from getting her son Danny (Griffin Gluck) involved in the same hyper-competitive sports-first lifestyle that burnt her out on the game she once loved. She doesn”t want him to grow up and face the same issues she”s faced due to her time in the batter”s box or grow to resent her in the same way she still holds a grudge against her father for pushing her too hard and not going to any of her college games.
The thing is, though, she might not have a choice in the matter once Danny gets rejected from the team after truly wanting to play the game. With a kind offer from a neighbor that could pool together the rest of the rejected kids to form a team of their own, Terry will have to decide just how much she”s willing to let her past guide her present and whether her bad memories of the game will be enough to deprive her son of the positive experiences she had due to her love of softball.
In addition to Lawson, Gluck, and Caan, Back in the Game stars Ben Koldyke (Work It), Lenora Crichlow (Being Human), Cooper Roth (Good Luck Charlie), J.J. Totah (Jessie), and Kennedy Waite (I-Doll).
The series premiere of Back in the Game is set to air Wednesday, September 25th at 8:30 on ABC.
