The third season of Continuum will premiere Friday, April 4th at 10:00 with the show picking up after Alec sabotaged Kira’s chances of going home, a decision that not only greatly impacted the future, it landed Kira in the custody of the Freelancers. Even if Kira is able to make it out of the clutches of the Freelancers, will her friendship with Alec ever be the same, especially when she finds out the effect that his decision had on her present? The final season of Warehouse 13 is set to premiere Monday, April 14th at 9:00, six episodes that will center around Claudia’s battle with Parcelsus and the various personal and professional revelations made by the team; joining the show on Mondays will be Metal Hurlant Chronicles, which will air episodes at 10:00 and 10:30 for six weeks. The series, based on the popular comic anthology Metal Hurlant, takes place on a different planet and features a different cast each episode.

Syfy will also be airing several specials during the spring months, beginning with Carvers on Tuesday, March 4th at 10:00. The special follows Ray Villafane and Andy Bergholtz, craftsmen who carve wood, ice, pumpkins, chocolate, sand, and meat into anything their clients desire. Tuesday, March 11th will see the premiere of My Big Fat Geek Wedding, a one-hour special that presents the wedding of Julian Roman and Mandie Bettencourt, who met while playing Final Fantasy online. The two will plan and execute a Renaissance-style wedding with the help of wedding planner Kristin Banta and party planner Brandon Hilock. Face Off alum Eric Fox will get his own one-hour special on Tuesday, March 18th, as Foxy & Co. follows him as he opens his own creature effects shop. The following Tuesday, new reality-competition series Jim Henson’s Creature Shop Challenge will premiere at 10:00. Hosted by Gigi Edgley, the series pits 10 aspiring creature designers against one another with the grand prize being a job working in Jim Henson’s Creature Shop.

The lone original movie that Syfy is set to premiere this spring is Zodiac: Signs of the Apocalypse. To bow in April, the film follows the arrival of an ancient artifact at a university and the impact it has not only on the collection’s curator, but on humanity as a whole. Zodiac: Signs of the Apocalypse stars Joel Gretsch (V), Aaron Douglas (Battlestar Galactica), Andrea Brooks (50/50), and Christopher Lloyd (Back to the Future).

Since moving to Fridays for its second season, Continuum has done well for the network, becoming the #1 original cable drama in its time period among Adults 18-49, Adults 25-54, and total viewers. Additionally, the series is up by about 20% in all three categories from its first season, which aired Mondays at 8:00, meaning that season three will likely air on Fridays, as well.

In addition to Nichols, Continuum stars Victor Webster (Melrose Place) as Carlos Fonnegra, Kiera’s partner in present day, and Erik Knudsen (Jericho) as tech genius Alec Sadler, Kiera’s closest friend and someone who becomes a powerful man by the year 2077.

The series is one of several international acquisitions that the network has made in recent years, most of which have seen some amount of success. In addition to Continuum, Merlin recently wrapped a five-season run on the network, while Lost Girl is headed into its fourth season this January. Not all international programs do well, though, as Sinbad and Primeval: New World will be given special wrap-up marathons to cut their runs on the network short after modest ratings on Saturdays.

Continuum currently airs Fridays at 10:00 on Syfy. Below is a sneak peek from the next episode, which finds Kiera having to decide just how far she’s willing to go to stop Julian from fulfilling his murderous destiny.

Created by Simon Barry (The Art of War), Continuum stars Rachel Nichols (Criminal Minds) as Kiera Cameron, a CPS protector from the year 2077 who was inadvertently brought, along with a terrorist cell, to the year 2012. Her task now is to stop the group from changing the past to fit their ideology, meaning that she has to join the Vancouver Police Department and use that as a cover to help her locate (and defeat) the cell. Also at Kiera’s disposal is a young tech expert named Alec Sadler (Eric Knudsen), who has a much deeper connection to the cell and Kiera than ever she could fathom.

Co-starring on Continuum are Victor Webster (Mutant X) as Carlos Fonnegra, Kiera’s partner in the present and Stephen Lobo (Arctic Air) as Matthew Kellog, a former member of the terrorist cell who tries to form an alliance with Kiera.

Friday at 10:00 on Syfy has become the slot of the international drama, as Merlin aired every episode there, Lost Girl finished out its second season there, and Haven (produced in Canada) will return there this coming fall. With that slot comes slightly lower ratings expectations, given the WWE Smackdown lead-in and reduced TV usage on Fridays, which should be even better news for Continuum. It performed fairly well in its Mondays at 8:00 slot and if it has an audience that will follow it to Fridays, it should be set to run for as long as it wants to.

During its first season, Continuum delivered 1.35 million total viewers, 644K Adults 25-54 and 537K Adults 18-49. In its time period, the series ranked #6 in Adults 25-54 and #10 in Adults 18-49 among all cable entertainment programs with at least three telecasts (based on most current data).

The 13-episode second season of Continuum will premiere April 21st on Canadian specialty channel Showcase.

Stuck in a world she knows only from the history books, Kiera is armed only with her Proctor suit from the future that has more to offer than an entire police force does in the present. Once she realizes she is not alone in the past, she teams up with the local police department and a new partner, Carlos Fonnegra (Webster). Through her suit, she also locates the man who created it, Alec Sadler (Knudsen) who is a mere boy when she meets him again, albeit one with the same technical genius she knew in him as an adult in 2077.

Continuum does a brilliant job of folding together Kiera’s two worlds, focusing on both her longing to return to her family and her desire to stop the terrorist act Liber8 has traveled back in time some 60 years to bring to fruition.

Littered with familiar faces, Continuum is both intellectually and emotionally engaging, as well as pretty to watch. Nichols has starred in series such as Alias, Criminal Minds and The Inside as well as many feature movies, Erik Knudsen was prominently featured in cult favorite Jericho and Webster has been seen in Mutant X, Charmed and Castle.

The first season has already aired in Canada and a second season has been ordered for the series. SyFy has acquired rights for both seasons, and set a premiere date has been set for the first season of January 14th. Mark your calendars, because if you are a fan of sci-fi, time travel and terrorism plots, this is one show you won’t want to miss!
