Awkward: Tegan and Sara to Music Supervise Season 3

Backstage at the MTVU Woodie Awards, indie rock duo Tegan and Sara revealed that they’ve joined MTV’s Awkward – as music supervisors. They’ll be in charge of handling the sounds of the critically acclaimed comedy, which will include cuts from their seven album discography. After having their songs featured on the likes of Parenthood, The Vampire Diaries, and Veronica Mars, the duo had their single “Closer”, a cut from their 2013 album Heartthrob, covered on a recent episode of Glee.

When Awkward returns, Jenna Hamilton should be excited, as she has the boy of her dreams, two wonderful best friends, and the world at her feet. She’s going into her junior year of high school, which means that it won’t be long now before she can say goodbye to Sadie Saxton for good, but with that promise of a new beginning comes an inordinate amount of pressure. Aside from her typical load of schoolwork, Jenna has to begin making important decisions about her future; namely, who does she want to be? And how will she go about making that happen?

And what about that seemingly perfect relationship with Matty? After going back and forth (and back and forth and back…) between him and Jake, Jenna chose to be with the one who gave her butterflies, but during her time in relationship limbo, her friends might have moved on. With Tamara and Ming leaving their outsider status behind, Jenna now has to play catch up and hope that she doesn’t get left behind.
