Taking home individual honors were Louis C.K. for the third season of FX comedy Louie and Tatiana Maslany for the several roles she plays in BBC America’s Orphan Black. While this is C.K.’s second consecutive win in the category, it was Maslany’s first nomination, though she won a Critics’ Choice Television Award earlier this summer.

Among the three major program categories, Breaking Bad was named Program of the Year, reigning Program of the Year winner Game of Thrones earned honors for Outstanding Achievement in Drama, and there was a tie for the comedy equivalent, as The Big Bang Theory and Parks and Recreation will share the award. The show hadn’t aired since late February due to the network wanting to see how new summer shows Twisted and The Fosters performed before making their renewal decisions. Those series will reportedly get orders for additional episodes in the coming weeks.

“Bunheads is a wonderful series that we are very proud to have aired. The series had amazing storytelling, the most talented cast and a passionate and loyal fan base. Recognizing all of this, we took extra time to try and find ways to bring the series back for another season, but in the end it simply wasn’t possible. We wish the cast and crew the best in their future endeavors,” stated an ABC Family spokesperson.

The show is the second ABC Family drama to end its run in recent days, with mystery The Lying Game being canceled earlier this month. According to Deadline, the latter had the advantage over Bunheads in the younger demos, 2.2 vs. 1.4 in F12-34 and 1.7 vs. 1.3 in F18-34, while the ballet drama had strong critical acclaim and the most marketable star in Tony winner Sutton Foster. However, once both The Fosters and Twisted got out of the gates with solid ratings, none of that ended up mattering enough to win them a renewal.

Bunheads starred Foster as a Vegas showgirl who gets a quickie marriage and moves to a small town. When her husband dies in an automobile accident, she decides to try and adapt to her new life in California vs. returning to the sometimes unsavory dance world, but in doing so, she has to accept her new path and make nice with her (former) mother-in-law.

Do you think that Bunheads deserved to be canceled? Now that the show has ended, how does the last episode work as far as a series finale? Could ABC Family has feasibly brought all four dramas back using a different method of scheduling (programming at 10:00, beefing up spring and fall, expanding into another day)?

ABC Family has greenlit an even bigger secret than the identity of A on Pretty Little Liars. A straight to series spinoff that will premiere in October after the Halloween episode (an annual special y’all) of Pretty Little Liars. they’re giving us no information on the show whatsoever but this:

“Not far from Rosewood, Pennsylvania, a deadly curse has plagued the citizens of a town called Ravenswood for generations, and the curse is about to strike again. Five strangers suddenly find themselves at the mercy of this fatal curse, so they dig into the town’s mysterious and terrible history before it’s too late for all of them.”

And, a website where they say they’ll take all the clues they’re dropping all over the internet on places like Facebook, Tumbler, Twitter and in between your toes so you don’t have to look too hard to find what you’re searching for – more information about this new show! The link is here RAVENSWOOD.

We know Marlene King will be involved, that it’s an Alloy Entertainment production, and that Ms. King will be joined by Oliver Goldstick, Joseph Dougherty, Leslie Morgenstein. It’s assumed the strangers who will stumble into Ravenswood will be introduced on the aforementioned Halloween special.

Pretty Little Liars generally breaks all kinds of records with viewers, especially teens and young women, right up to those at the ripe old age of 49. It’s s social media monster and given that information alone, it’s no surprise Ravenswood went straight to series.

If you know me at all, I’m not all about statistics and the marketplace, but speculation. What the hell will this show be about? What’s currently missing from ABC Family, and what does the title of the show and it’s appearance in conjunction with Halloween mean to me? I’m betting on a supernatural element. Any takers?

Consider me officially worried about the futures of The Lying Game and Bunheads, the former more than the latter, which is really just my personal bias. I was so engrossed in the storyline of Emma and Sutton and from what I understand April is the deadline to make a decision about the future of both series. May the force (of the audience – get out there and make your voices known if you love ’em) be with them

Stick with us, kids, as we’ll bring you all the news we learn as we learn it, and more speculation, too, because that’s half the fun of television. Predicting (and usually not) the future. Game on!
