Dexter: Will Season 8 Be Its Final Season?

Showtime has announced that the upcoming eighth season of Dexter will indeed be the serial killer drama’s last. The series, which has grown its audience with each successive season to become Showtime’s most successful of all time, has earned a Peabody Award and two placements on the AFI year-end top 10 list, in addition to garnering star Michael C. Hall a Golden Globe, a SAG Award, and five consecutive Emmy nominations for his role as Dexter Morgan.
“When it debuted in 2006, Dexter redefined the genre, by taking the anti-hero to new heights and pushing the boundaries of the television landscape,” said Matthew C. Blank, Chairman and CEO, Showtime Networks Inc. “Dexterpaved the way for the next generation of award-winning hit Showtime series, and its cultural impact will be felt for years to come.”

The eighth and final season of Dexter premieres June 30th at 9:00, where it will lead into the series premiere of Liev Schreiber-starring Hollywood fixer drama Ray Donovan.
