Comedy Central has announced that Drunk History and Nathan For You have been renewed for their third seasons, both of which will premiere sometime next year.
Based on the Funny or Die web series of the same name by Derek Waters and Jeremy Konner, Drunk History uses an inebriated narrator to recount an event in American history, with actors enacting the anecdote by lip syncing any dialog. Season two have featured the likes of Lisa Bonet, Laura Dern, and Adrianne Palicki, with retellings ranging from Edgar Allen Poe’s feud with Rufus Griswold to the birth of rock and roll and Allen Pinkerton’s Lincoln assignment.
Docu-reality series Nathan For You finds comedian Nathan Fielder playing an off-kilter version of himself that uses his business background to help struggling companies. Season two of the critically acclaimed series has taken Fielder to a Hollywood souvenir shop, a struggling auto mechanic, and a liquor store.
Comedy Central has had a strong 2014 thus far, as Broad City, Key & Peele, Inside Amy Schumer, Kroll Show, Review, and Trip Tank have all been renewed. At San Diego Comic-Con, the network revealed the trailer for Moonbeam City, an upcoming animated comedy starring Rob Lowe as an undercover detective who commits more crimes than the criminals he’s chasing.
Drunk History airs Tuesdays at 10:00 on Comedy Central, with Nathan For You following at 10:30.
