According to The Hollywood Reporter, dating site Ashley Madison is the basis for an upcoming drama from Canadian producer marblemedia and U.S. partner Out East Entertainment.
“This is a chance to get the roadmap,” said Ashley Madison CEO Noel Biderman. “All of those market segmentations that people fall into will be explored and exposed through characters that inhabit the show.”
The currently untitled drama, which will be shopped around to networks once it gets further along in development, is said to focus on how extramarital affairs have evolved in the digital age, with the indiscretions of both public figures and private citizens to be explored. Producers are reportedly close to naming a head writer for the series, while Biderman will have a character based on his experience as a monogamous family man who makes his living encouraging others to have an affair.
Infidelity is a popular subject for relationship dramas and primetime soaps, but recently, the subject itself has been the focus of entire series, ranging from USA’s Satisfaction to upcoming Showtime drama The Affair. It remains to be seen how the Ashley Madison drama will differ from either or whether the show has a strong chance at getting picked up by a network.
