South Park

South Park is an animated TV show that began in 1997 that features four wild and foul mouthed kids: Stan, Kyle, Cartman, and Kenny. This show is known for its dark humor and crude language. The four kids live in South Park, a small town in Colorado, where things like to get weird. Matt Stone and Trey Parker, the creators of the show, like to take weirdness to another level with South Park.

South Park is one of the most popular animated shows, and gave rise to many controversies, including the famous “Everybody Draw a Mohammad Day”. South Park has offended each and every faith and race, and thus has earned a lot of controversy. South Park originated when Stone and Parker made two small shorts that became viral on the internet. This later led to the creation of a new TV series, and later a movie was made: “Bigger, Longer, and Uncut”.

The show revolves around four kids: Eric Cartman, Kyle Broflovski, Stan Marsh, and Kenny Mc Cormick, though with time, they have been introducing more characters, and now Butters Stotch can be considered another important member of their gang. The episode generally involves things happening around their school, or generally something that goes on in their city, South Park.

South Park has always seen big rating success, which has been good for Comedy Central, the network that started showing ‘in the map’ because of the show.

The show always depicts taboo subject matters like toilet humor, disregard for people’s feelings, and negatively depicting liberal causes, making fun of conservative thoughts, and portraying religion in a comic way. When the TV series became popular, there were many schools that barred their students from wearing clothes that depicted South Park or were related to the show. Eric Cartman was voted as the favorite personality of kids in 1999, which irked many parents and teachers. Later it was said that the show is intended for mature audience.
