Sleepy Hollow 2.02 Photos and Sneak Peeks: Crane and Abbie Plot an Escape Route

Ichabod and Abbie managed to reunite after being incapacitated by Jeremy, with the former using his knowledge of science to free himself from the coffin and the latter getting some necessary advice from Brooks on how to handle purgatory. However, just because the two are now mobile in the outside world doesn’t mean that they’re in an overly advantageous position against the Horseman, not when two members of their team are still up against the wall. As Irving’s legal position might not be easily amended, their focus has now shifted to the more high priority target: Katrina, who is still trapped in a carriage house overseen by Abraham.

On the next episode of Sleepy Hollow, Abbie and Ichabod come up with a way to free Katrina from her confinement, as they resurrect a Frankenstein-like creation of Ben Franklin in order to fight the Horseman. It’s quick a risky gambit, seeing as how they don’t have a back-up plan should the creature lose, but they have to think outside the box if they have any hope of freeing Katrina and getting a much needed victory against both Jeremy and the Horseman. Not only would securing Katrina give both Abbie and Ichabod the moral victory that they need to keep going, her powers would become quite the weapon in the fight against the Horseman, allowing the team the type of latitude they didn’t have while she was in purgatory.

Elsewhere on Sleepy Hollow, Irving reveals what really happened during his encounter with the demon, thereby causing himself even more problems, while Jenny finds herself at odds with the new sheriff of Sleepy Hollow.

Sleepy Hollow 2.01 Sneak Peeks: Who Does Abbie Meet in Purgatory?

Rather than force Katrina to go back into the hellish purgatory that she just escaped, Abbie opted to go in her place, both as a gesture to her friendship with Ichabod and a realization that Katrina’s magic would be better used out in the open. However, Abbie now has to find her way out of purgatory without falling victim to the demon that first visited her as a child and she unknowingly has to do this without the aide of Crane. But could someone Abbie runs into while trying to get her wits about her provide the key to getting her out of the prison she willingly locked herself in?

On tonight’s season premiere of Sleepy Hollow, Abbie runs into Brooks while in purgatory and though she’s initially hesitant to trust him, given everything he’s done since aligning with Moloch, she knows that there’s not much in the way of options where she is. Andy was once a friend and he gives her enough information (this time about Moloch’s planned demon army invading Sleepy Hollow) that she can’t afford to take for granted. While a quick escape for Abbie might not be in the cards right now, considering Moloch’s increasing strength and the amount of time it takes to free someone from purgatory, Brooks can get messages to the outside world and round up the troops to retrieve his former friend from her terrifying tomb. But after Abbie gets out of purgatory, will she trust Andy, assuming he helps her return to the outside world? Or has he done too much for her to be able to put her faith in?

Elsewhere on Sleepy Hollow, Katrina tries to trick the Horseman in order to free herself, while Crane remains trapped in Jeremy’s coffin and Irving looks for ways to get himself out of jail for a crime he didn’t commit.

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Spoilers: Ichabod and Abbie Attempt to Save Katrina

At the end of the first season of Sleepy Hollow, the fate of the world looked to be quite bleak, with Ichabod trapped in a coffin, Abbie isolated in purgatory, Jenny on the edge of death after being in a car crash, Katrina kidnapped by the Headless Horseman, and Frank in jail for a crime he didn’t commit. All the work that Ichabod and Abbie did in order to protect the town, as well as the world at large, seemed like it was for naught, with the two having been tricked by the man they knew as Henry Parrish, Sin Eater. However, Ichabod and Abbie are nothing if not resilient, so just because they’re in what looks to be an impossible situation doesn’t mean that the apocalypse is an inevitability; they just have a few more steps to go to get back to where they were and beat back the coming threat that could swallow Sleepy Hollow whole.

Listed below are the dates, titles, and descriptions of the first three episodes of Sleepy Hollow‘s second season.

Monday, September 22nd – “This Is War” (Season Premiere)
Picking up immediately after the spellbinding events of the Season One finale, Ichabod finds himself buried alive in a coffin; Abbie is trapped in purgatory; Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, has been kidnapped by the Headless Horseman; Capt. Frank Irving is behind bars for a murder he did not commit; and Abbie’s sister, Jenny, is among the wreckage of a horrific car crash. These events were due, in large part, to the shocking revelation that Henry Parish, the trusted friend of Ichabod and Abbie, is actually Ichabod and Katrina’s son and the Second Horseman of the Apocalypse. Now, with Henry’s emergence as the Horseman of War, alongside the Headless Horseman, Sleepy Hollow has never been so close to destruction.

Monday, September 29th – “The Kindred”
Ichabod Crane and Lt. Abbie Mills concoct a daring plan to try to rescue Ichabod’s wife, Katrina, from the Headless Horseman by resurrecting a Frankenstein-like monster created by Benjamin Franklin. Meanwhile, Frank Irving faces new trouble after revealing the true details of his encounter with a demon, and Jenny Mills finds herself at odds with the new sheriff in town.

Monday, October 6th – “Root of All Evil”
After a bank robbery turns violent, Abbie and Ichabod embark on a hunt for a mysterious silver coin that has more power than meets the eye. Meanwhile, Captain Frank Irving is put in a position where he must choose between his family and the greater good and the Mills’ sisterly bond is put to the utmost test.

Sleepy Hollow Season 2 Premiere Photos: The Town Edges Toward Destruction

Ever since Ichabod and Abbie began working together, they’ve made quite the progress toward understanding their true mission, finding the type of common ground necessary to help their working relationship, and saving the world from the threats that seek to destroy it. However, as quickly as they were learning about what was expected of them as guardians, neither of them were able to pick up on the fact that the Sin Eater was Ichabod’s son Jeremy – the Second of the Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse. That lack of awareness threatens to undo all of the good that Ichabod and Abbie have done since they first teamed up, but will either Ichabod or Abbie escape their precarious positions in order to stop War from enveloping Sleepy Hollow?

On the season premiere of Sleepy Hollow, the town edges toward destruction now that Jeremy has free reign. While Ichabod is trapped in a coffin similar to the one that his son was for two centuries, he’s unable to help Abbie escape purgatory, free Katrina from the grasp of the Horseman, or pull Jenny from the car crash that she was involved in. If Ichabod doesn’t find a way to escape the coffin, his resurrection will have been for naught, as there would be no one standing between the Horsemen and the beginning of the apocalypse; whether he likes it or not, Ichabod will be one of the defenders of the world for the next several years, giving him a sense of purpose that outweighs how lost he feels in this new world that he’s been brought up in. In order to continue living in, exploring, and protecting this world, he’s got to free himself and find ways to rescue those he loves the most from the fates that his son played a part in facilitating.

The second season of Sleepy Hollow premieres Monday, September 22nd at 9:00 on FOX.

Keeping up with the sheer volume of scripted programming on television can be a daunting task, as there are no longer just the five broadcast networks and the odd cable network to worry about. Now there are broadcast networks, innumerable cable networks, streaming services, and various other companies looking to make their mark in a crowded marketplace, so it’s understandable when something slips under the radar or when audience abandons a show that creatively stumbles.

Which is where TVHackr comes in – we’ve combed through the veteran shows returning in the fall and picked four that are worth the time to catch up on. Surveying the television industry is quite intimidating, so rather than forcing you, dear reader, to scour the internet for information about what’s worth your time or when something returns, we’ve gathered everything you need to know about each of the four shows we’re recommending. Premise: A man-child bachelor living off his past success finds his world turned upside down when a single mother moves next door with her pre-teen son.
Who’s in it: David Walton (Perfect Couples), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), Benjamin Stockham (1600 Penn), and Al Madrigal (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart)
Why you should catch up: About a Boy is a show that effectively uses formula as a way of deepening character relationships. For the first half of the season, it’s a cute, fluffy little comedy that hits the beats that you think it’s going to, yet before you know it, you’re deeply invested in the main character’s personal progress and the lovably awkward friendship he has with the affable, big-hearted boy next door. It’s a comedy of self-acceptance and learning to let go, of finding healing through your relationships with others and forgiving yourself for a past that you might not always welcome, with the 13-episode first season is one that grew stronger and more assured as it went on. With Walton and Stockham sharing an extremely pleasant dynamic, Walton and Driver bypassing any hint of will they/won’t they in favor of an unlikely friendship, and the show itself unafraid to tackle emotionally complex ideas for a broadcast comedy, it’s a show primed to make the leap in season two.

Reign (The CW)

Premise: A Scottish royal moves to France to fulfill an agreement between the two countries and wed the man she was promised to as a child.
Who’s in it: Adelaide Kane (Teen Wolf), Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables), Toby Regbo (Mr. Nobody), and Torrance Coombs (Heartland)
Why you should catch up: Reign is the messy, fearless costume drama that had been missing from broadcast television. Delightfully loopy and never meeting a plot twist it couldn’t turn on its head, the series probes issues of power, familial loyalty, and individual wants vs. the needs of many, all through the eyes and experiences of a teenage girl thrust into a position she never really wanted in the first place. Anchored by a searingly compelling performance by Follows as the misunderstood queen, Reign grew much darker with each passing episode while still able to find the light in the most seemingly dour of situations, its confidence growing the more it intertwined the CW-ness of it all with the trappings of its sister period dramas. From blood cults to trips to the Caribbean, from campy one-liners to the fall of one of France’s most powerful beings, Reign is a lot of fun and a refreshing stylistic change from the normally genre-obsessed CW.

Premise: A scorned woman moves to the Hamptons to seek vengeance on those who framed her father.
Who’s in it: Emily VanCamp (Everwood), Madeleine Stowe (The Last of the Mohicans), Gabriel Mann (The Bourne Supremacy), Nick Wechsler (Roswell), and Josh Bowman (Make It or Break It)
Why you should catch up: Revenge very much stumbled during its second season. Rather than continuing to mine the specificity of Emily Thorne’s quest for vengeance, it got too big, too bloated, and too boring, losing sight of the heart of the series in favor of Alias-like conspiracies and the vaguest shadow organization you can imagine. However, a showrunner change and some impressive soul-searching found the ABC drama at the top of its game during its most recent season; not only did Revenge allow Emily to, y’know, get some revenge through takedowns of the week and some serious progress against the Graysons, it allowed her to reexamine why exactly she’s doing this and reignite her determination to see things out for her father. In a season of katanas, mental institutions, and over-the-top deaths, it was a more cerebral way of looking at the very damaged psyche of a woman who lost her entire childhood due to the interests of the very people she’s trying to bring down.

Premise: A resurrected Ichabod Crane returns to Sleepy Hollow and teams with a female police officer to prevent the apocalypse.
Who’s in it: Tom Mison (Parade’s End), Nicole Beharie (Shame), Orlando Jones (MADtv), and Katia Winter (Dexter)
Why you should catch up: Sleepy Hollow should not have worked. It had a ridiculous concept that was made all the more ridiculous by its high-octane trailer, but the commitment that the show had to its concept and the self-aware humor that quickly became an integral part of the show tied everything together beautifully. In a television landscape committed to creating the least offensive, more broadly appealing content possible, Sleepy Hollow was very much itself and never pretended to be anything else, highlighting the playful chemistry between Beharie and Mison while crafting a show that worked both as supernatural procedural and mythologically threaded serial drama. It was loud, it was visually striking, and it had more chutzpah than nearly every other freshman drama from last season combined – it was event television in every sense of the word and something that has the potential to become even greater going forward.

Sleepy Hollow: John Noble and Lyndie Greenwood Promoted to Series Regulars

Deadline is reporting that John Noble and Lyndie Greenwood have been promoted to series regulars for the second season of Sleepy Hollow. Previously, both had been recurring on the supernatural drama, with the former appearing in three episodes and the latter in 10 of the first season’s 13 installments.

Minus the pay bump that comes along with being a series regular, the promotion is mostly a formality for both, as Greenwood felt like a series regular for much of season one and Noble’s character became incredibly important thanks to the season finale, so he was guaranteed a much bigger role during season two. However, it’s nonetheless welcome news – Noble was consistently tremendous in his limited screen time, a simmering volcano of rage who erupted in the finale, while Greenwood’s chemistry with both Nicole Beharie and Tom Mison kept the show fresh and allowed it to delve into the complicated family dynamics it liked to explore with firsthand accounts of a troubled childhood. Sleepy Hollow could have very easily been a two-person show, Beharie and Mison carrying the weight of everything on their shoulders, but the introduction of Greenwood and Noble, as well as John Cho and Orlando Jones, kept things alive and thriving, a promising sign for season two.

While most known for his acclaimed work on Fringe, Noble has appeared on the likes of The Good Wife, 24, and Home and Away. Greenwood’s TV credits, meanwhile, include Nikita, Saving Hope, and Being Erica.

The second season of Sleepy Hollow is set to premiere this fall on FOX. As with season one, season two will contain 13 episodes, though FOX has indicated that the episode order might be slightly expanded. Production on season two will begin this coming March.

Sleepy Hollow Season Finale Sneak Peeks: Moloch Comes After the Bible

Now that Ichabod and Abbie have found the date within the pages of Washington’s Bible, they’re as close as ever to figuring out a way to bring Moloch down and further foil his plans of infecting Sleepy Hollow with evil. As such, Moloch, who knows about the defeat of Ancitiff at the hands of the blessed lantern, has even more motivation to terrorize the two witnesses and use all the underlings he can to come after the Bible. If he manages to gain possession of the text, with its coded messages meant to help defeat evil once and for all, Ichabod and Abbie’s time as witnesses will grow much more difficult, in that even if they figure out a way to emerge victorious against Moloch, it’ll likely already be within the confines of the Bible and he will have had ample time to defend against that kind of attack.

On the season finale of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod and Abbie unearth the shocking true nature of Washington’s death thanks to the date they found in the Bible, but soon enough, they find that Moloch is closing in on them, ready to remove them from his path once and for all. In order to push him back and keep Sleepy Hollow from falling into the pit of evil that Moloch threatens to drown them in, sacrifices will have to be made and the increasingly strong loyalty between Ichabod and Abbie will be tested, though they’ll ultimately need the other one if they have any plans of making it through their time as witnesses alive. Will the two be able to keep the Bible from falling into Moloch’s possession and robbing them of the chance to save the town once again?

Elsewhere on Sleepy Hollow, Captain Irving makes a decision for the sake of his family that will drastically alter his future, while the battle of good and evil comes to a head.

The two-hour season finale of Sleepy Hollow is set to air tonight at 8:00 on FOX.

Sleepy Hollow 1.11 Sneak Peeks: Irving’s Daughter Becomes a Target

Although Captain Irving has accepted that there are things going on in Sleepy Hollow that he would have never known about had he not chosen to trust Abbie and Ichabod, there’s still a slight disconnect between him and the two messengers. He’s seen the supernatural happenings around town with his own eyes and been a part of plans to trap the Headless Horsemen, but he’s never had the dangers of Sleepy Hollow directly impact him or someone in his life. His family is off in the city and while he’s had a close call or two with the Horsemen, he’s not dealing with the type of emotional trauma that Ichabod and Abbie are, trauma that has fueled their desire for answers.

On the next episode of Sleepy Hollow, Captain Irving will get the firsthand experience with the supernatural side of Sleepy Hollow that he had previously been lacking, as dark forces have targeted his daughter Macy. Previously, Irving just kind of trusted Ichabod and Abbie to do their own thing and didn’t necessarily insert himself into the action unless it was absolutely necessary. Now, though, he’s wanting to dive right into the research side of what his colleagues do in order to fight back against the demons that are after his daughter and save her from going through the type of hell that Jenny, Abbie, Ichabod, Katrina, and countless others connected to Sleepy Hollow have had to go through. But will he be able to keep Macy completely out of the line of fire or is Irving going to have some explaining to do for the weirdness surrounding her and her mother?

Elsewhere on Sleepy Hollow, a chapter of Jenny’s past gets revealed to Abbie through a video taken before Sheriff Corbin died.

Sleepy Hollow 1.10 Sneak Peeks: Ichabod Digs into the Mystery of His Son

Understandably, it’s taken some time for Ichabod to get used to a world nearly three centuries removed from the one he knew. Aside from reconciling himself with the deaths of his loved ones and the culture that he took pride in, Crane has had to get used to the way things work in American society in 2013, from bottled water to fast food, from flashlights to OnStar. While he does have Abbie around to help fill him in on the things he’s missed and guide him through a difficult time in his life, it still has to feel extraordinarily disorienting to feel so far behind everyone else, almost as if he was born again and forced to relearn everything he thought he knew. But culture shock has nothing on the news that Katrina gave birth to a son without ever telling him that she was pregnant.

On the winter finale of Sleepy Hollow, Ichabod begins digging into the mystery of his son – who he was, what his life consisted of, why Katrina wouldn’t tell him about the pregnancy. The only place he knows to turn? Henry Parrish, the Sin Eater who helped him earlier in the season. But in order to find out about his son, he’s going to have to go into purgatory and talk to Katrina directly, something that will put his very soul in danger as still-living human beings crossing into that realm risk losing their essence in the transition. And that’s not including the fact that Ichabod’s presence in purgatory could draw Moloch to both him and Katrina. However, Ichabod is so separated from the live he once lived that he needs the peace of mind in knowing who his son was and that he had a life that turned out to be not so bad, so he’s willing to risk bringing Moloch out and losing a part of himself in order to find out.

Sleepy Hollow airs Mondays at 9:00 on FOX. The show will return January 13th before completing its first season on January 20th.

FOX Midseason: Dads Reduced, Sleepy Hollow Double Up, The Following Follow-Up

For the third time in six weeks, FOX has announced a series of scheduling changes that it hopes will put itself in better position come midseason. The network confirmed that controversial multi-cam Dads will not be having 22 episodes during its first season. Instead, the Seth MacFarlane comedy is slated for 19 installments during its inaugural season, something of a cancellation harbinger as rare is the renewal of a freshman series that has a truncated first season. Dads is set to go on hiatus with The Mindy Project come February, but most tellingly, the latter has a return date and Dads doesn’t as of yet.

The other change comes on Mondays, where Sleepy Hollow will now be having a two-hour season finale on Monday, January 20th. Originally, the show was scheduled to end its season at 8:00 on the same night and lead into the second episode of The Following‘s second season. Instead, the two shows will not be airing together this season, as The Following will now have its season premiere after the NFC Championship Game on Sunday, January 19th as expected and follow that up with its second episode on Monday, January 27th at 9:00.

Not airing the second episode of The Following the day after the season premiere seems like a counterproductive move on FOX’s part. While Almost Human‘s ratings tumble last month when the same strategy was employed could have caused them to have cold feet, it seems pointless to have a special airing behind what will be one of the highest rated broadcasts of your season and not try to capitalize on that momentum. Ratings will of course go down from the first airing to the second anyway, but The Following had a season to establish a fan base and became one of FOX’s top scripted shows as a result; it doesn’t face the same danger of collapsing that Almost Human did and likely would have had a mutually beneficial partnership with Sleepy Hollow. which would have helped make up some of the slippage that it would have suffered. This way, though, any positive impact that could have been felt from the NFL exposure will be gone by the time the second episode airs.
