So let me dry my tears a bit because I want to start at the beginning, because as much as I want to discuss that crazy ending, there were lots of great stuff during “For Better or Worse.”

First of all, Beckett was already married! Apparently she is not a one and done kinda girl. In her defense, Beckett didn’t even realize she was married. Kate and her then college boyfriend, Rogan O’Leary went through the drive thru of love in Las Vegas as a joke (drunk) and got married.

Beckett then went to find Rogan so she could get him to sign the papers to end their marriage and found out he’s quite a piece of work and not in a good way. First Rogan made Beckett break into the truck belonging to his ex-girlfriend, then Beckett saw Rogan being abducted. Rogan was such a schemer that not even the local police wanted to go look for him.

I thought the whole husband storyline was pretty funny, and I laughed so hard when it turned out Rogan knew the entire time that him and Beckett were married. He had told his girlfriend that his wife was in a coma! Such a schemer! Rogan was using the whole wife in a coma thing as an excuse not to fully commit to Tildy.

I won’t get into great detail about the whole blackmailing a pastor thing since I want to discuss the Caskett wedding but Rogan had photos of the pastor with a stripper. Helping people was the pastor’s calling. I’m sure it was. It was bad enough Rogan had photos of the pastor, but he also had photos of Mickey Barbosa. Barbosa the mob hit man who disappeared a decade before. It was quite the brilliant play that Castle and Beckett brought in the biker gang that Rogan owed money to, to claim the reward for Mickey.

Rogan finally signed the papers and Castle and Beckett could get married! All happy right? Well, not so fast. During Beckett’s little trip to end her marriage, they lost their wedding venue. Ever so smart Alexis suggested they could move the whole party to their Hampton’s house. I thought that was such a fantastic idea. Why didn’t they think of that as their venue in the first place? Ryan’s tux was too small, even though Alexis checked the measurements a ton of times. So many jokes there.

The next disaster (many people didn’t think so) was that Kate’s wedding dress got ruined! Lanie got to deliver the bad news to Kate that a pipe burst in the apartment above Kate’s and the dress Matilda King gave to Beckett in Dressed to Kill S6 Ep14 was destroyed.

“One big sign – ours is a great love story, what’s a great love story without obstacles to overcome. Every fairytale has them . We want the happy ending, we can’t give up.”

A sign of things to come? Regardless, it was such a sweet, honest moment between Castle and Beckett. He always has the right words to calm her down. The bad seemed to be going away and it looked like we were going to get our happy ending after all. Beckett was wearing her mother’s wedding dress, and looked so beautiful. It was like it was made for her. Even though she couldn’t be there, it was like a piece of her was there to support her daughter. Another moment that made me tear up was between Kate and Martha. Martha thanked Beckett for making Castle so happy.

Martha gave Kate the most beautiful pair of blue earrings. They were given to Martha by her mother to wear on her wedding day and given to her mother before that. “Only women of substance have wore these gems. They’ve been waiting Katherine for you.” My friend pointed out that Martha obviously didn’t think Richard’s previous wives were worthy and I’d definitely agree with that statement. Katherine is an extraordinary woman. It’s not to say Gina and Meredith aren’t special but none of them are Beckett. It was such a beautiful moment between the two of them. I’ve always loved the relationship between Martha and Kate. There’s a mutual respect there.

And now for that ending. I got scary flashbacks from Downton Abbey and I didn’t like it one bit. From the moment I saw that black svu I knew something bad was going to happen and Kate getting a phone call after Castle was an hour late wasn’t a good sign. What a devastating ending. I had such a bad feeling going into this episode, but the way the things were going I thought, “Hey! Maybe they would get married.” I should have known better. The tears started up when Kate got the phone call, and when she ran out of the car to see Castle’s car up in flames they just continued well after the credits.

I can’t even begin to process the ending. I’m sure I’ll have more thoughts in the days to come.  I was pretty sad at the season 2 finale of Castle, when Castle went off with Gina but this is on a whole other level. It was just so devastating seeing Beckett so happy and minutes later her whole world was torn apart. Stana played the scene perfectly. She didn’t even need to say a word. She said it all in her expressions. All the joy in the world and in one instant everything can change. Seeing her crying will be an image that will haunt me the entire summer.

How are we going to survive this hiatus? I have so many muffled thoughts running through my mind. I don’t believe Castle is in the car. How could he? The show is called Castle! He can’t be dead. Could it be that Jerry Tyson kidnapped him? Do you think somehow Bracken is behind this? Or is this a whole new mythology Marlowe spoke about in that interview. What are your theories? We have many months to speculate. This will be the longest hiatus ever! In Marlowe We Trust…

From the moment Vulcan Simmons appeared in this episode, I just knew things were going to get real messy. I just didn’t realize to what degree. Kate had been following this guy Jason Marks since about March. Well, that’s what the close up of her journal indicated. Jason, who Kate and Rick had been investigating in regards to her mother’s murder turned up dead and Vulcan Simmons who Kate saw driving Jason turned up dead as well.

As if things weren’t already intense, it got much worse when Lanie delivered the news to Kate that the one bullet that was found in Simmons came from a pistol registered to Kate. Simmons was killed with Kate’s backup piece that was in her safe at home. I was shaking just like Lanie was when she was giving the news to Kate. I just couldn’t believe it. There was no way Kate killed Simmons. I know Kate, she would never do such a thing. There was only one person that could have set all this up.

Later on, Castle came up with the theory that maybe our old dead friend Mr. Smith wasn’t actually dead at all. Could that possibly be? Well, Smith called Castle’s burner phone, and I’m pretty sure dead people cannot make telephone calls. Did anyone else get the shivers when Castle and Kate met with Smith in the parking garage? Smith told the two that he was close to bringing Jason into the fold but that someone found out and had him killed. First Jason, then Simmons. What was going on?

Intense doesn’t even begin to explain this episode. It was just one thing after another. There were so many heart pumping, intense moments but the swing sets moment definitely warmed my heart. A hooded Kate meeting Rick. Aw, just so awww. Anytime this show brings out the swings you know it’s going to be a great moment. Another great moment was when Espo and Ryan told Gates everything about Kate’s mother’s murder. I thought it was about time Gates knew what was going on. If Gates was going to do anything she could to protect Beckett, she needed to know the truth.

It was only a matter of time before Bracken found Kate and he made his move once Castle left the hotel room to get a car. I loved how Kate told Bracken to kill her if he had the balls to do so. Which we all know he doesn’t. He always makes other people do his dirty work. His two thugs made Kate swallow a pill that would relax her and then proceeded to feeding her booze. They were obviously making it look like some kind of suicide, but not so fast! Kate didn’t swallow the pill and took down both men. Did they really think Kate was going to go down without a fight? Kate did get smashed in the head but Castle showed up just in time and they took off.

I can’t even choose a favourite moment from this episode since the entire episode was incredible but I got some serious chills when Kate had a flashback to meeting Captain Montgomery for the first time. Kate was looking for her mother’s file and Kate didn’t realize it but back then, Montgomery was giving her a clue as to where the recording of Bracken confessing was. It turns out Montgomery gave Johanna the recording! Can you believe it? I was in shock.

Kate and Rick were able to get into Kate’s apartment to look through her mom’s stuff thanks to Ryan and Espo but Capt. Marcus Donovan came busting in before they could get out. The following sequence of events were absolutely brilliant. One of the best moments of the entire series. Kate was going through everything in her head and it donned on her. The famous elephants on Kate’s desk were her mom’s. Johanna used to have them on her desk and she used to say they were a family just like Kate, her mom, and her dad. “D ME w/ family” didn’t mean dinner with family, it actually meant Detective Montgomery, evidence w/ family. The tape was in one of the elephants!!!! Seeing Kate trying to crack open one of the elephants then the tape falling to the ground was so amazing. Even more amazing? Hearing Bracken confessing to everything on that tape.

It was so incredibly satisfying seeing Kate walk through those doors and seeing the complete shock on Bracken’s face. Kate had the honour of arresting Bracken for conspiracy, fraud and murder of her mother Johanna Beckett and all in front of the media. Bracken was going down and it was Beckett who got to deliver the final blow. What a moment for Beckett. Finally! That part of her life can be put to rest.

A perfect ending to an amazing episode. I just can’t believe the whole thing. The recording was in the elephant the entire time! I am in shock. Mind blown. The Castle team has done it once again. I must add “Veritas” to the list of all time favourite Castle episodes. Let’s be honest, that list is really crowded, but this one will definitely go down as one of the Castle greats.

I’m just so glad we got to hear LT say a couple lines of dialogue. Go LT!

I’m going to definitely savour this episode a lot more before I think about next week’s finale. I can’t believe the season is almost over. It has been an incredible season, and I’m confident Milmar have an epic finale planned for us.

From the moment I saw the promo for this episode I was ecstatic that Salli Richardson-Whitfield was guest starring as Gates’ sister Elizabeth. I’ve been a huge fan of Salli’s since she was on Eureka and these two incredible women were fantastic together. Polar vortex didn’t even begin to explain how Gates and Elizabeth were to each other at the beginning of the episode. You definitely sensed something big happened between these two.

We got some indication early on that something definitely went down between these two and that it was job related.

Gates: “I am not stuck anywhere. I will not apologize for doing my job to the letter of the law.”

We learned later on when Beckett was talking to Gates about Elizabeth, that Gates screwed up one of Elizabeth’s investigations. Back when Gates was the head of Internal Affairs, Elizabeth was trying to make her case and she begged Gates not to mess with her case. Gates chose her job because that’s who Gates is and we love her for it. Things haven’t been the same between the sisters since. I felt so bad for Gates because she seemed genuinely sad about the rift with her sister. Gates was only doing her job, but I could see where Elizabeth would have resentment towards her sister. They were the dynamic duo for goodness sake. Could you imagine the good they could have done together?

I just loved that Beckett and Gates scene so much. Such a beautiful bonding scene between them. Stana and Penny have such great chemistry together. This whole cast does. That’s what I love most about this show. All the actors have such amazing chemistry together and they really do love their jobs and it really translates on the screen.

The scene that really got to me was short but it packed quite a punch. When Gates was working late she opened up her desk drawer to reveal a picture of her and her sister. So much emotion in that moment. If you didn’t already love Gates, I’m sure after this scene you will. Yeah, she’s a hard ass sometimes, but she’s just trying to do her job. Even though she probably wasn’t talking to her sister, she was always thinking about her.

In the end, the team got their murderer and it was someone I didn’t even suspect. Turns out, our victim Peter Cordero took the 25 million from his boss and was going to run away. Stephanie, who was working with Elizabeth at the U.S. Attorney’s office listened to Cordero’s last recording and heard he was going to leave town. Stephanie couldn’t let Cordero do that and shot him. Such a shame. At least Peter donated a large portion of the money he took to rebuild his hometown that was destroyed by the earthquake that killed his parents.

I was so happy when Elizabeth thanked Gates for doing her job so well. The same thing that got between them in the first place. I was glad the sisters could put the past behind them. I really hope we get to see them work a case together again. I thought Penny and Salli really nailed it this week. I just loved how Elizabeth kept on calling her Victoria. Such a change from Captain Gates, or Sir.

Other than the case, we got to enjoy more wedding planning. We learned that Kate will not get married up in space, on a slide or on a ride. I’ll admit, getting married on the Cyclone at Coney Island would be pretty awesome. I kid I kid. Castle and his crazy ideas always make me laugh.

They already have a song, and now they needed to make their list. The amount of people just kept on growing, but to be fair, Castle is world famous-ish. I absolutely loved Aunt Theresa getting mentioned and Castle commenting about what she wrote on Facebook. Hilarious throwback Castle writers. I love when they do that.

How many names did Castle and Beckett have? Like 500? Well, Martha had her own list! Things were getting a little out of hand but Castle and Beckett being who they are and this amazing communication thing they’ve got going on decided to figure this out once and for all. Kate asked, “Why are we having this wedding?” They are having the wedding for them, not for anyone else. I thought it was brilliant to write down everyone they wanted to be there in a minute. After about 2 seconds they stopped to reveal they both wrote “YOU” on their piece of paper.

Okay, everyone on the count of 3 say, AWWWWW. How adorable was that? I can’t even count how many incredibly sweet moments we’ve got between the two of them. Of course after this they started to actually make their list together. I’m not going to make any predictions about this wedding. I’m just going to sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride.

I’m always game for Castle’s crazy theories and this episode provided us with yet another classic from Castle. I loved how adamant Castle was that the killer was a ninja and even I was starting to believe his crazy theory. I was happy I didn’t decide to make a drinking game out of this episode because if I had to take a shot every time somebody said ninja I would have gotten plastered.

I could go on and on about the ninja action but I’d rather talk about all the other Castle goodies this episode offered. First of all, Kate in the opening scene was hilarious. She was supposed to get together with an old friend named Carly and Kate said something I never thought would ever come out of her mouth.

Kate: “Last thing I need is to watch someone from my past trying to seduce my fiancée while talking about the goddess that lives in her hoo-ha.”

Hoo-ha! Kate Beckett, why I never! Stana was awesome tonight. In fact, she’s always awesome. She was definitely on fire with her great lines and facial expressions. I rarely comment on this, but how amazing did Stana look? I love when Stana’s hair is down, but she looked absolutely amazing with her hair up in that ponytail and I loved that blazer she was wearing towards the end of the episode and those leather pants! Hot damn!

Other than the hoo-ha moment, Kate and Espo eating cronuts was awesome and it made me really want one. I just love scenes where characters are eating. To me it makes them even more human. It drives me nuts on shows when we never see characters eat. I can never accuse Castle of doing that.

How great was the Japanese Hostess Club scene? Kevin doing karaoke was hilarious and I loved how uncomfortable he was when they first got there and made sure to tell the ladies that he was married. He even pointed to his wedding ring. Things got quite interesting when one of the ladies took Castle back to a private room to give him information about Jade. Unfortunately Castle was busy and ignored his reminder to call Beckett. It wasn’t for nothing, but the evening did cost him $6,000!

I nearly laughed myself off my bed when Castle tried to expense the $6,000 bill and Gates crumpled the bill right in front of his face.  Did Castle really think Gates would allow him to expense that?

After getting the death stare from Gates, Castle was treated to a pissed off Kate. Kate was mad at Castle because he didn’t call her when he was supposed to. He was too busy having his little private session. Obviously Kate’s frustration wasn’t all about Castle not calling. Beckett was expecting her friend Carly to have these amazing stories but instead she was boring. Carly said she was bored in her marriage. She was complaining there was no romance in her marriage. Kate was afraid marriage would change them. Kate didn’t want to get bored with Castle, and she didn’t want Castle to get bored with her. Castle was so adorable telling her they could put it in their vows. “Even though we’re married it doesn’t mean there’s no more romance and we will never ever be boring.”

Kate: “We’re not gonna become one of those couples that go to the same two restaurants and only have sex on national holidays.”

I love how they’re having such realistic conversations with each other. What a difference a season makes. Last year, Beckett had no idea where their relationship was going and they hardly ever spoke about the future. Now that they’re engaged they communicate and voice their concerns. Castle and Beckett are just too adorable together and we are so lucky to get the cutest Caskett kisses. Moonlight curse be dammed! This show has gotten a million times better since Castle and Beckett have gotten together. Just because a couple gets together doesn’t mean everything is all puppies and rainbows. They now get to face adversity together and work through their problems the way real couples do.

So, back to the ninja goodness. It turned out Jade, our victim was hunting down the Green Dragon that killed her family. Ah, your classic revenge story but unfortunately things didn’t end well for Jade. The woman who was impersonating the consulate officer earlier in the episode was actually Jade’s sister, a police officer herself. Both Jade and her sister survived the attack that killed their parents.

From the moment we met Jade’s boyfriend Dean’s father I knew something wasn’t right with him and I was right. Randall Bedford was the Green Dragon.

I have to say, it was quite the episode. Intriguing case and great character moments. This show has so many layers, it’s what makes it so great. That’s what I love about this show. It’s never one thing. You can have an intense moment followed up by a funny one and then a sad one. There’s not too many shows I can go from laughing to crying. Castle is definitely one of a kind.

The intensity factor in this week’s episode was off the charts. I was on the edge of my seat the second Beckett was kidnapped. We all knew things weren’t going to go according to plan, but I never thought the episode was going to go the way it went.

The episode really hinged on Stana’s performance and she killed it in every single way. Stana’s fear looked so real when Harden was scanning her for a wire while she was in the van. I could almost hear her heart racing. Or maybe it was my heart racing a mile a minute? My fear pushed aside, I couldn’t help but smile when we were treated to Beckett’s sexy Russian accent. That wasn’t the only thing from the past we were lucky to get this episode.

I will definitely not repeat what I screamed out loud when it was revealed who Lazarus was or who we thought he was, but I’m sure some of you could guess. Never in a million years did I think  it was going to be Vulcan Simmons. As he kept on talking, I was getting closer and closer to my television till I realized who it was. The last time we saw Vulcan Simmons, Beckett was slamming him into the mirror in the interrogation room at the precinct and accusing him of murdering her mother. Mind incredibly blown! I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. The Castle writers are geniuses.

Not only did I freak out a million times this episode, but my heart also broke a ton of times. When Beckett was writing that letter for Castle, my heart was actually hurting. Beckett was such a genius for leaving the blood that would lead to the letter for Castle in case things got bad. As much as things looked like they were going wrong I never once doubted things wouldn’t turn out good for Beckett.

That was until they started water boarding Beckett.  Things turned bad fast but I knew Beckett was strong and would get out of it. It didn’t stop my heart from racing so incredible fast. My hands were on my face the entire time. I just kept on getting flashbacks of Ryan being water boarded.

Beckett was strong and was even threatening Vulcan. I just didn’t know how much of the torture I could take. That scene alone proved that Stana deserves all the awards in the world. I could feel the pain she was going through. This episode will stick with me for a very long time and it’s up there in my favs category.

This was quite the episode for Beckett, but it was also a great one for Castle. I felt so horrible for Castle when he heard about Beckett. He was so helpless in this situation. I just loved that Javier was reassuring him that things were going to be okay. He was right, it was Beckett. Never ever count her out.

“This is Beckett we’re talking about. She might be your fiancée, but she’s also a damn good cop. So don’t sell her short.”

This being Castle, things are always bigger than what they seem. I couldn’t believe it but Elena, the woman Beckett was pretending to be actually saved Beckett in the woods. But why? Well, Lazarus sent Elena to save Beckett. I’ll ask the question again, why? Things were about to start making sense.

Beckett being the incredible detective she is, remembered an account name for the money laundering scheme. Future Forward turned out to be a political Super PAC. Someone higher up was behind this whole thing. Somebody that needed Beckett alive. I was with Beckett, no way was Vulcan Simmons actually Lazarus. I’m sure you all freaked out when you realized Senator Bracken had to be Lazarus.

It all made sense now. Bracken owed Beckett for saving his life and now they are even. The next time they see each other, all bets are off. Now that Senator Bracken is going to run for President, things are going to get extremely interesting! I always wondered how they were going to bring Bracken back into the mix and this way was pure genius.

Other things I loved this episode was Gates telling Beckett she didn’t have to do the undercover assignment and she’d take the heat for it. They’re relationship has really blossomed into something great. Don’t get me wrong, I miss Captain Montgomery so much, but Captain Gates has really turned into such a great character. We need more of Penny Johnson Jerald.

How about when Beckett was told to kill Even Potter?! I really had no idea how Beckett was going to get herself out of that one. Good thing Mr. Potter had a ton of ketchup and beet juice in his house. It was also good that Harden didn’t see Beckett enter the house because those 2 bullet holes in the window wouldn’t have made much sense.

It was short moment, but Beckett giving herself a pep talk in the bathroom mirror was great. “You’re getting out of here alive.” I love that Castle and Beckett’s future is what kept her going.  Beckett isn’t alone anymore. She has someone who loves her so much and she has so much to live for. Character development has always been what I love most about this show. It’s natural, people change, people grow, so why shouldn’t television characters? Kate Beckett has changed so much since the start of this show, it’s amazing. Definitely my favourite character on tv and Stana Katic continuously brings it week after week. I could never picture anyone else in this role but her.

I am always in awe how this show just keeps on getting better and better. This team is truly incredible and I’m enjoying this wild ride they put us on week after week. We have to wait 2 weeks for a new episode but it’s alright, because I’m pretty sure I’ll still be freaking out about “The Belly of the Beast” for a while.

This episode definitely belonged to Beckett and so did the best lines.

“What we both need is a good font.”

“If I don’t make it, I need you to know that our partnership. Our relationship is the greatest thing that has ever happened to me. You’re an amazing man, and I love you with all of my heart. Always.”

“The only thing that kept me going was thinking about you.”

Castle

Seamus and Juliana Dever stole the show for me. Kevin and Jenny made me laugh and they made me cry. They were constantly calling each other to test their system. Jenny was past her due date and could give birth at any moment. It was so heart wrenching having to watch Beckett tell Jenny what happened to Ryan. Here they were awaiting the birth of their little one and Ryan gets trapped in an explosion. Stana was great in this episode. The look on Beckett’s face at the sight of the fire was heart breaking. Stana definitely deserves all the awards. Stana doesn’t even need to say a word. She says it all in her facial expressions.

I did find Castle quite subdued with his theories about the case, which was perfectly fine for this episode. I love Castle and his crazy theories but this episode didn’t really call for it. Nathan’s performance in this episode was great. I also thought Penny Johnson Jerald was fantastic in this episode. I loved Captain Gates addressing the rest of the precinct. I loved seeing everyone band together. Bad ass Gates emerged in the interrogation room and I loved every minute of it.  I had to smile at the thought of how far Gates and Castle have come. Not too long ago she couldn’t stand him and here they were theorizing together. I loved it!

I had the biggest smile on my face when Mr. tech Ryan was able to get through to Beckett using the phone he saw in the rubble. (Land line!) My smile turned to sadness though when Ryan was talking to Jenny while she was in the ambulance about to give birth. It was just so heartbreaking. The look between Lanie and Beckett and Beckett shaking her head brought tears to my eyes.  Tamala Jones shined in this episode. When she rushed over to the warehouse knowing Javier was trapped broke my heart. As if my heart wasn’t hurting enough, Castle comforting Beckett set my heart aflutter. The waterworks really started to pour out of me when Jenny said to Kevin they needed to name the baby together. I know sometimes real life couple’s chemistry doesn’t translate on screen, but Seamus and Juliana definitely shine on screen together. I did have a little chuckle when Ryan wanted to name the baby Javier.

The look of joy on everyone’s face as Ryan and Esposito emerged from the building brought more tears to my eyes. Happy tears though. (Finally!) The tears didn’t stop as Ryan saw Jenny and his new daughter, Sarah Grace. The look on Ryan’s face told me he’s totally ready to become a dad. Beckett, Castle, Javier, and Lanie standing by the ambulance watching over Ryan, Jenny, and the baby was just perfection. They are definitely a family. What a great episode to start the new year. I cannot wait to see what Marlowe & Co. have in store for us for the second half of the season. Next week looks amazing. Castle’s dad is back! Bring on the Brolin.

The case this week was great, but to be honest, I felt like it was the B plot and I didn’t mind one bit. I just wanted to see everyone interact with baby Cosmo. Yes I know, his name was really Benny, but I just adored the fact that Castle named him Cosmo, and dressed him up in the cutest turkey onesie. Castle was really adorable holding the baby, and even more adorable after he dubbed himself having a RHD in child care, “Ruggedly handsome dad.”

There were so many amazing lines and moments from “The Good, The Bad and the Baby” I’m surprised my head didn’t explode. I do have to say, Alexis totally won the episode. Her line, “How long have I been gone?” after walking into the loft and seeing Martha feeding Cosmo and Castle and Beckett passed out on the couch had me in stitches. I’m smiling like a little school girl just thinking about that scene. Castle volunteering to take in baby Cosmo was the best idea he’s probably ever had.

Kate reading a baby book, and Castle bribing baby Cosmo to stop crying were two things I thought I’ d never see. Cosmo puking on Castle and then Kate holding the little one was hilarious. I really loved while Kate was holding Cosmo, a version of Caskett’s theme played in the background and Kate had this amazing smile while looking at Castle. You could totally tell she was thinking, “Hey, maybe I can do this whole baby thing with Castle.” I just found that moment so sweet. Kate was so not a baby person but she definitely grew to be one by the end of the episode. I do have to say, the way Castle and Beckett changed Cosmo’s diaper was awesome. They were doing it like they build theory together. Castle and Beckett make such an incredible team. I love watching earlier episodes and then recent ones just to see how far they’ve both come as individual’s and as a couple. Let me point out how adorable it was that Castle and Beckett had probably their most important conversation to date while Beckett was standing in a dumpster.

I really felt for Castle when he was telling Beckett how Meredith wasn’t around and he pretty much raised Alexis on his own. Castle thought taking in Cosmo was a good way of getting Kate comfortable around a baby. My heart really melted when Kate told Castle, “When the time comes, there is no way I’m gonna let you take care of our baby on your own.” I really did love that Kate didn’t shy away from the baby talk with Castle even though she wasn’t really a baby person. Beckett has grown so much as a character since the beginning. It really is fantastic. They are going to make great parents, if they do have children. Just thinking about it is making me giddy.

Other then Castle and Beckett’s adorableness with baby Cosmo, we got to see Ryan interact with the little one. It was both adorable and hilarious. Ryan really believed he was ready for fatherhood, but freaked out every time Cosmo would start to cry. I loved that Esposito had to talk Ryan down. Javier told him that no one’s really ready for parenthood. Ryan’s just going to have to learn as he goes along. Ryan cares and he’ll be just fine.

I loved that Lanie got to spend a little time with Cosmo. Her baby talk while holding him was too cute and she seemed like a natural with baby Cosmo. Captain Gates even got to spend time with Cosmo. There’s something really incredible about a baby and the way even the toughest adults turn to mush around them.

Ryan was absolutely hilarious this episode with his obsession with the huge lottery jackpot. I would even say it helped with the solving the murder of Cameron Ducane. It looked like Cameron and his crew fixed the lottery but that wasn’t the whole story. Cameron’s boss pressured Cameron into the plan because he found out about Cameron’s criminal past and threatened to fire him and jeopardize everything him and his wife were trying to build. Even the head of security of the building was in on the plan. They took Miranda Vail, the lottery announcer’s baby, Cosmo/Benny and her husband Paul as hostages. They made her switch the briefcase with the briefcase with the fixed balls. Cameron ended up saving Cosmo/Benny’s life by taking him and running. Thus sacrificing his own life for Benny’s. The families reunion with Benny was heartwarming.

Another hilarious moment belonged to Alexis when she told Castle and Beckett if they have a baby in a few years, and she has one also, both babies could grow up together. Thus ruining that whole moment. I couldn’t help but laugh out loud. As if the whole episode wasn’t already cute and funny, the last scene with Beckett dressed up as Pocahontas took the cake. Castle was only kidding about the whole dressing up thing but Kate was prepared and made Castle dress up as a pilgrim. “Better put this on, Pilgrim.” Kate seriously rocks! Gotta love that high five she gave Martha. Just an all around fantastic mid season finale episode.

Terri Edda Miller is an absolute genius. She knows exactly what the fandom wants and delivers in spades. In fact, the whole writing staff, directors, actors, everyone involved with this show have been absolutely amazing. Castle is in its 6th season and I see no signs of it slowing down. Monday’s episode proved just that. I have liked every episode this season so far, (some more than others) but I’m going to say “The Good, The Bad and the Baby” is my favourite this season. It definitely has earned a purchase on iTunes and a permanent spot on my iPod so I can watch it over, and over and over again. I just have to survive till the show comes back in January 2014.

Like many times this season, there were so many other things to deal with, that I really didn’t care about the case of the week. It’s not to say it wasn’t good, because it was. I was just so focused on Castle and Beckett, that I really didn’t care about anything else. The case did bring out guest star Mekenna Melvin, another Chuck alum. She had a small scene, but it was so great to see her on television.

The interactions between the characters tonight were just amazing. Castle and Alexis moments are always a personal favourite of mine and tonight they didn’t disappoint. Alexis wanted to go to Costa Rica for a school program and Castle didn’t want her to go because of Paris. Alexis, always so brilliant and strong, didn’t want to stop living her life because of her kidnapping. She didn’t want fear to win. It’s truly amazing how she’s grown over the years into this strong, intelligent woman. She’s right though. You can’t let fear dictate your life. Maybe there’s an underlying theme there. It seems like maybe Castle is letting his 2 failed marriages wreak havoc on his relationship with Beckett. Sometimes you just have to let go and not live with the fear of screwing things up, because that will in fact be it’s undoing.

I personally loved Gates confronting Beckett about her job interview in Washington. I never for one second thought Gates would be mad at Beckett. Gates in fact gave Beckett her highest recommendation. Gates believed this was an incredible opportunity for Beckett and wished she herself would have had an opportunity like that. Beckett is a smart, tenacious, and innovative thinker and is headed for bigger things and even Gates knows that. Things have never been perfect between these two, but I really like where their relationship is at now. Who knows what’s going to happen in the future, but I’m glad they shared this moment.

One of my favourite moments of the finale belonged to Kate and Lanie. I’ve always said we need more scenes like this with these two. I’m so happy we got this scene during the finale. I was just so happy Kate finally opened up about her interview with someone. I actually got a bit angry when Kate said to Lanie, “We never talk about where we’re going” in regards to Castle. Yes, Castle has never brought it up, but Kate hasn’t also. She’s in this relationship too, and if she wants to know where things stand, she should have brought it up to Castle. She really needed to just talk to Castle about the interview already. I really hated the fact that she was constantly lying to him. The guy stood around for hours while she was on a bomb. She owed him that much.

Another scene I totally loved was Esposito talking to Ryan about noticing something weird going on with Beckett. I laughed when Ryan immediately went to thinking Beckett was pregnant. I have to say though, it was the perfect transition to announcing to Javier that Jenny was pregnant. I sort of forgot Ryan hadn’t announced it to anyone yet. I love these kinds of moments between these two guys.

Now let’s talk about the scene that first broke my heart. First of all, how cute was Beckett making dinner with Castle? Well, the cuteness faded away real fast when Castle saw the boarding pass that fell out of Kate’s Jacket. Hallelujah! She finally told him about the interview. Although, it didn’t come out because she wanted to. It came out because she was caught. It seems like this is a pattern. Should I bring up the fact that Kate didn’t really come out and tell Castle Mr. Fantastic tried to kiss her. Castle kept on questioning things and then Kate came out with the truth. Castle was clearly upset with Kate because she lied and hid the job interview from him, and to tell you the truth, I didn’t blame him one bit. Yes Kate, it is about your life and I agree, you do have a chance to do more, but it would be without Castle. Castle was really hurt that Kate didn’t include him. I would feel the exact same way if my boyfriend went for a job interview in another city and didn’t even bother to let me know. Kate, you’re in a relationship with Castle now, you owed him the truth. By her keeping this from him, she made it a million times worse. Beckett had to have known deep down this would hurt Castle and yet she still hid it from him. This thought crossed my mind. If the boarding pass didn’t fall out of her jacket, when would have Beckett told Castle about the interview? I don’t hate that Beckett went for the interview. I just hate that she hid it from Castle. She has this amazing opportunity and she didn’t even tell the man she loves. I would say it says more about Beckett than her relationship with Castle.

One of the many things I love about this show is the relationships between parent and child. Whether it’s Castle and Alexis, Castle and Martha, or Kate and Jim, all of those scenes are always so amazing. Tonight was no different. I loved that Richard went to Martha for advice. Martha was right in telling Richard that Katherine deserved this opportunity. I think deep down, Castle knew that. He just needed to get past his anger first. Always the voice of reason, Martha told Richard he’s holding back with Beckett for some reason. Maybe deep down, he doesn’t believe his relationship with Beckett is going to really work?

“I know you, you don’t hold back, except this thing with Katherine. It took you what, 3 years to tell her how you felt about her, another year to act on it and now the first sign of trouble you run… why?” – Martha

Then the moment came when we found out Beckett got the job. I never doubted for a moment she wasn’t going to get it. Just like Castle, Beckett went to her father for advice. You could see how conflicted Beckett was. As much as I was annoyed with Beckett lying to Castle, I really felt horrible for her. Her and Castle have never discussed their relationship (which they are both to blame IMO) so she doesn’t know what her and Castle have. “We’ve been doing this dance for the past 5 years and what happens when the music stops? What if all we were in love with was the dance?” It just really saddened me that Beckett was afraid Castle was going to hate her. As much as Castle was angry that she lied to him, I would hate to think he would ever hate her.

When Beckett was looking around the interrogation room, I really got the sense she was feeling like it was her last time and she wanted to make it count. It was quite depressing seeing her walking down the hall and looking around at the desks. Did she make her decision already and chose the D.C. job? We all have to be realistic. With Beckett in D.C. would we really have a show?

I literally jumped for joy when Beckett called Castle to talk. The moment I saw that swing set I burst into tears and my heart was racing so fast it could have competed in the Indy 500. I loved that Kate apologized. She was wrong, she knew it. Then came Castle’s turn. He wanted more, they both deserved more. The screams you heard next was from me, and I’m not apologizing. Castle proposed!!!!!! I honestly had no idea where that scene was headed. I truly thought Castle was going to tell Beckett to take the job in D.C. because he didn’t want to hold her back from this amazing opportunity that she clearly deserved. Now we must wait this long hiatus for Kate’s answer. Will Kate say yes? What was Kate going to tell Castle? How will this proposal affect her decision? How long has Castle had this ring? Did he buy it after his conversation with Martha? So many questions! This will seriously be the longest hiatus ever! Is it September yet?

This whole season has been incredible and I for one cannot wait to see what tricks Marlowe & Co. have up their sleeves for season 6.

This episode will always hold a special place in my heart because my friends and I were on location one of the days they were filming. I thought it was so cool that I saw many of the extras multiple times that day walking up and down the street and to then see them on screen was just incredible. It’s experiences like that, that really heighten your love for a show. To see how hard the cast and crew works to put out an episode makes you appreciate them even more.

Beckett had to protect billionaire hottie Eric Vaughn because his life was in danger. Castle was so jealous of Vaughn it was quite amusing. This also brought out a little nutty case solving Castle. At one point he was quite high off caffeine. After Castle pretty much chose a video game over Kate, it was good to see someone show an interest in her. Maybe shake Castle up a bit. (Seriously Castle? You were ignoring Kate while she was trying to seduce you. Are you crazy man?) I thought the whole Castle taking Kate for granted storyline was quite realistic. It has been a year since they first got together. They still haven’t had “the talk” so this isn’t so out of left field.  I had to chuckle at Castle noticing Kate swooning over Eric Vaughn. Why wouldn’t she? He’s gorgeous, rich, and I’m pretty sure he wouldn’t choose a video game over her. I was even swooning over him! Damn that smile and accent. And ladies, I saw him while on location… really gorgeous in person.

We all know Kate Beckett would never cheat on Castle, but the moment after Vaughn hit himself in the eye with the cork from the champagne was a little too close for comfort for me. Maybe Kate was feeling like Castle wasn’t appreciating her and here’s this amazing billionaire obviously interested in her. It actually hurt me a little when Beckett hesitated when asked by Vaughn if her and Castle were serious. I’ve analyzed this “almost” kiss more times then I’d like to admit and you can disagree with me if you want, but Beckett totally let Vaughn come in for a kiss then she pushed him away. Good thing she did because someone shot at Vaughn through the window.

I loved Castle running into the hotel room to see if Beckett was okay after the assassination attempt on Vaughn. Despite Castle being a dope sometimes, he loves Kate and would do anything for her, so my heart totally sank at the sight of Castle’s face when he saw the champagne bottle. I know a lot of people are saying Kate told Castle the truth about the kiss, but it was only after Castle was prodding her story that she told him the truth. I don’t think she was going to lie to him, but she didn’t tell him the truth right off the bat.

I have to say, I really enjoyed the case of the week. I loved how both story lines were intertwined. Just when you thought Mr. Fantastic wasn’t so fantastic, we got a nice little twist. Vaughn’s attorney ended up being the one trying to kill Vaughn. I really did think Vaughn was behind the attempt on his own life. It would have been too easy though. It would make the audience be justified in hating this guy hitting on Beckett if he were the bad guy.

Now to the nitty gritty. That ending! I was absolutely done after that scene. I didn’t like that facial expression Kate made and the change in music. It made me so nervous. You could see the doubts building. In my heart, Kate has loved Castle a lot longer than she has even admitted to herself. Even though she hasn’t said the words, every one knows she loves Castle. Then you  have this handsome billionaire who has expressed interest in her, and on the other hand you have Castle who obviously loves her but could chose a video game over her. They’ve never had the “where are we going?” conversation. I could see why Kate was conflicted. I’m just really happy she didn’t let Vaughn kiss her. It could have been real easy to kiss him. That would have just caused more harm than good. I just hate that she said her and Castle’s relationship is complicated. That statement hurt my heart. Of course Mr. Fantastic came back with:

 “Kate, there’s nothing complicated about meeting a woman like you and knowing what to do.”

All I’ve got to say is Castle better step up his game. I welcome angst, and in this situation it was totally warranted. Nothing is perfect. No relationship is perfect. It’s real. This is what real couples go through. Castle and Beckett are just going to come out of this even stronger. While I understand Kate’s side of this, there’s Castle’s side also. He’s had 2 failed marriages. He has his walls that he’s put up. He’s with this woman whom he loves undeniably and doesn’t want to screw it up. As my genius friend said, it’s easy for an outsider to come in and say it’s simple. Vaughn doesn’t know Castle and Beckett’s history. As a matter of fact, this was less about Vaughn and more about Castle/Beckett. Vaughn was just a tool to facilitate them having these conversations going forward. Obviously Castle is it for Kate. Kate just needs to know Castle is in it with her.

So let me begin with the case. Santa was last seen falling from the sky to his untimely death. Castle, the big kid and traditionalist he is obviously was quite upset Santa was dead. Beckett on the other hand is a realist and didn’t believe in all this Santa stuff. Santa otherwise known as James Edmund Smith was shot and fell out of a helicopter. Edmund had an epiphany one night after watching A Wonderful Life, and he left his wife and comfortable life and started a new journey as Santa. The truth was, back in Edmund’s previous life the company he worked for scammed families out of their homes. He was trying to redeem himself so he moved next door to one of the families he destroyed. He came up with a plan to work the Case Commerce holiday party as Santa so he could get the unaltered loan documents that were in the storage room. The murderer ended up being Edmund’s ex wife. She couldn’t let Edmund take away her lifestyle if his swindling came out into the open.

I was so happy we got a Lanie and Esposito scene. I love these two characters and I’m really hoping they find their way back to each other. You really had to feel for Espo. He was alone for the holidays and tried to get with Lanie, but she already had plans. She told him she didn’t want one of those sad desperate holiday hookups. If after the holidays he still wanted to get together, he should call her. It was just so incredibly sweet when Esposito showed up to the Cabot’s with their clock. His face totally lit up when the Cabot’s invited him to spend Christmas Even with them.

We learned Jenny wants to try for a baby and Ryan is scared about it. We got such a sweet moment with Espo and Ryan. Esposito reassuring him he’s ready to have a baby just reminds us how great friends these two are. I can’t wait to see Kevin as a dad.

The funniest moments had to belong to Captain Gates. Her mother in law is staying at her house during the holidays and she makes it quite clear she’s not happy about it. “Detective, if you happen to receive a report of a homicide tonight at my address, do me a favour ignore it.” I almost fell off my bed laughing when Gates saw Esposito holding up lingerie meant for Jenny. Gates said something I thought I’d never hear on television let alone from her. “Let’s finish up this hoochie-coochie thing and get on with it.”  We’re really starting to see a playful side of Captain Gates and I’m loving it. Penny Johnson Jerald is so funny in real life and I’m just so happy we get to see this side of her character.

I’m obviously saving the best for last. Kate told Castle she couldn’t come over to his house for Christmas Eve because she had to work. Castle was obviously upset, which I didn’t blame him. He later learned from Gates that Beckett was the one to volunteer to work that night. I got a little worried how Castle would handle the news. If you recall last season when Castle found out Kate actually remembered everything from her shooting, he didn’t exactly handle things well. I still get upset watching those episodes because I didn’t believe for a second Castle wouldn’t confront her. This time though Castle confronted Kate and she opened up to him. Christmas doesn’t mean the same thing for her as it does for him. Kate associates Christmas with her mother’s murder and it’s hard for her. Stana just killed this scene and Nathan was so great just soaking in all her words. I love these heartfelt scenes between the two of them. It shows me how much these two characters have grown and how much they truly do love each other. I honestly don’t need to hear those 3 little words from Kate just yet. Don’t get me wrong, I’d love to hear them soon but she loves Castle, I just see it by her actions. It torn me up to have Castle and Beckett standing underneath the mistletoe at the precinct and not being able to kiss.

Everything turned out amazing though when Beckett came by Castle’s loft just as he was going to rush out to see Kate at the precinct. She knew how much the holiday’s meant to him and wanted to start a new tradition. That kiss near the huge Christmas tree was just perfection! For a split second when Kate started to whisper something I thought she was going to say those 3 little words. It ended up just being “Merry Christmas” but it was just as sweet. Of course Castle had to tell her he didn’t buy her anything which added humour to the scene. In Castle’s defence, Kate did tell him to not buy her anything. Since when does Castle listen anyways?

Usually by a 5th season of a show starts to go in this downward spiral. Not Castle! I feel as though I’m watching a whole new show. This is a true testament to everyone who works on this show. The cast and crew love this show as much as the fans and they want to make it the best show possible. I’m just so happy I’m along for this wonderful ride.
