However, the news isn’t all bad, as the show will close its doors after a super-sized 16-episode final season that will be broken up into two eight-episode chunks. This will be Lost Girl‘s second extended season following its 22-episode second season, only the fifth and final season will be broken up, possibly in the same manner that Breaking Bad aired its final season (e.g. two eight-episode chunks that aired a year apart).

Lost Girl tells the story of Bo (Silk), a Succubus who feeds off of sexual energy. Since realizing that she’s apart of the Fae, she’s done everything she can to protect those she loves and keep herself unaligned in the on-going war between the Light and the Dark. In addition to Silk, Lost Girl stars Kris Holden-Ried (The Tudors), Ksenia Solo (Black Swan), Zoie Palmer (The Guard), and Rick Howland (Bon Cop, Bad Cop).

The fifth season of Lost Girl is set to premiere December 7th on Showcase in Canada, with its status on Syfy as yet undetermined. While the network picked up fellow Canadian drama Bitten for a second season, no announcement has been made regarding whether the fifth season of Lost Girl will air on American television. You can check out a recap of the fourth season finale of Lost Girl here.

Will you be watching the final season of Lost Girl? Are you disappointed that the show will be ending so soon? How would you like to see Lost Girl conclude Bo’s journey and the journey of those in her inner circle?

Rainer pledges that he’ll fight until his last breath and brings a weakening Bo to the Dal, where he and Trick clash and Bo tells her grandfather about the white-clad cult-like group who worships a horse god they believe is her father. She then feels her father trying to cross the bridge into this world in order to bring her back to serve as queen. Meanwhile, Lauren watches as an increasingly manic Massimo digs a grave outside; ironic, since by the looks of his face, he’s lost the power of the Twig of Zamora and is no longer immortal. He’s also having difficulty digesting the power of the Papyrus Seed, but he still wants to make his mother proud by bringing her Bo’s severed head.

Back at the Dal, Trick tells Bo that he doesn’t have any leads as to the identity of her father, though he does inform her of her hybrid blood (the kindness of her mother and the manipulative nature of her father) and how he gave Aife up to the Dark to set an example of the sovereignty of the blood laws. Once she was caught, of course, she spent centuries being tortured and used by the Dark, which led to her losing her mind and any grip she had on reality. When Bo goes to leave the Dal and head to the portal, Trick stops her and tells her that she wouldn’t be safe if she did that and that she needs to get Lauren back from Massimo before tangling with her father. Dyson finds Kenzi looking for Bo at Evony’s and the Morrigan soon joins them; not only do Dyson and Kenzi find out that Evony is now human, and subject to the horrors of a changing body temperature, they learn that Massimo is her son, a factoid which nearly causes Kenzi to attack.

While Dyson, Kenzi, and Evony set off to the Dark archives, where the latter claims her son would be, Massimo arrives at the Dal and unleashes an energy blast he took from a Thunderbeast, knocking Trick and Rainer over. Bo tries to fight back, only to be tossed around the room due to the Seed’s impact being felt by Massimo, and when Rainer attempts to attack, Massimo breaks his arm before snapping his neck. Though Bo has some broken bones, she can’t let go of her desire to save her friends, lamenting that she wasn’t able to save Hale, Rainer, or anyone else important to her. Tamsin tells her to get her shit together and start acting like the chosen one, causing Bo to feed and note that Tamsin tastes differently than usual, with Dyson and Kenzi coming shortly after. Dyson gives Bo a hug, though Kenzi is reticent about showing affection to the woman she blames for Hale’s death; Tamsin tries to talk to the latter about life being too short to carry around grudges like this and confesses that she took Rainer’s soul, possibly her ticket out of Valhalla exile. Kenzi then produces a book that Rosette carried into this world with her and notes a page that said the daughter’s (Bo) heart would be enough to close the portal.

Before heading out to save Lauren, Bo rips up her Dark contract in front of Dyson, who tells her that he found his purpose in serving her. All his life, he felt like he was wandering and now he pledges his fealty to Bo, saying that he’ll be by her side forever and telling her he loves her. When she mentions that she would like him to serve with her rather than for her, Tamsin interrupts and the trio go to where the portal is. Three revenants saunter out of the portal and Bo nearly overdoses when she feeds off them, having to be pulled back by a kiss from Dyson. After taking care of the three former soldiers, the two note that it was more difficult than they expected, especially since there could be millions of revenants pouring through the portal at any moment. Bo feels great due to channeling the energy from her father’s impending arrival and she enlists Dyson to contain the portal so she can go save Lauren. He happily agrees, just as Evony gets drunk for the first time at the Dal; she flirts with Trick and informs him that he knows the one way to close the portal. They both then leave to meet Bo and save the world – reluctantly, in Evony’s case.

Bo puts on her necklace before battle and Tamsin and Kenzi come in to see her. Kenzi gives her a hug and a sword, assuring her friend that she’s going to be fine, while Massimo still has bursts of pain from the power of the Seed. He does have Rainer’s foresight now, but that doesn’t stop Bo from being able to sneak into the lair he’s holding Lauren captive. She’s in for a surprise, though, when he tells her that the Una Mens can deflect power and uses Hale’s siren song to blast her off her feet. He then trash talks the succubus, provoking her about Rainer’s death, and after Lauren assures her that everything’s going to be okay, Bo tries to feed from Massimo to no avail. She gets an assist from Evony, who appears from the shadows; Bo holds a knife to her throat and taunts an increasingly angry Massimo before feeding from Evony and saying that she tasted the contempt the Morrigan has for him. When Massimo unwittingly begins feeding from his mother’s chi, Bo tells him that she learned how to stop overly feeding due to the love from her friends and that if Massimo loves Evony, he would be able to stop and save her life. He does stop, only it’s too late – Evony collapses into a heap.

Bo bargains a life for a life with him and uses some of his chi to bring her back. However, Lauren brings out the Twig of Zamora and crushes it before Bo gets in a few blows on Massimo, dedicating the finishing one to Kenzi’s broken heart. Speaking of, Kenzi walks out into the field of revenants where Dyson, Tamsin, and Trick are battling for their own fates and the fate of the world itself. She informs Dyson that she figured out how to shut the portal – she has to walk into it, seeing as how she’s Bo’s heart. Kenzi’s okay with the thought, as it would give her a part to play in Fae society and allow her to go out the warrior that she is, even when Dyson warns her that the portal is concentrated energy and there’s no telling what it could do to her. She tells him that Rainer knew this would happen and that Tamsin has a Valhalla ticket in the form of Rainer’s soul that could help bring her back; she then pledges to wait outside Valhalla for Bo to come rescue her.

After leaving Lauren to tend to Evony, Bo feels her father’s presence at the doorway of the portal and just as she comes running in to help, she witnesses Kenzi looking back right before she walks into the portal. Once Kenzi crosses the threshold, every revenant dies and the portal itself closes, leaving her body crumpled near the entryway. As Tamsin takes Kenzi to Valhalla, Bo breaks down in tears, having lost her heart. While Tamsin returns from Valhalla and warns Dyson about the horror that could come from Bo acquiring the second Hell Shoe, Bo brings flowers to Kenzi’s grave and pledges that no one else is going to die on her watch.

Additional thoughts and observations:
-“First of all, I goosed her sweet berries. Right where you’re sitting.”
-“Relax, you’re going to wear out your big boy pants.”
-“I’ve got your epi-pen right here.”
-“Yeah, it’s called the coming apocalypse, dick.”
-“Ugh, terrible. Who taught you to threaten?”
-“Kenzi Malikov. Friend. Warrior. Heart.”
-All of my tears. All of them. Life is meaningless. Love is empty. The world is sadness.
-But seriously, what kind of Buffy-circa-season-5 realness was Kenzi’s death? Even though I was spoiled on the development when this episode aired in Canada and thus was able to pick up on the clues the writers left that it would be happening, I still spilled more than a few tears as Kenzi figured out the role she was meant to play and sacrificing herself for the good of the Fae. Let’s hope that season five has at least some focus on Bo going to Valhalla to bring her back, because Lost Girl without Kenzi is not Lost Girl.
-That being said, this season has easily been the worst of the show’s first four. It still had plenty of really strong moments and episodes (the stretch from the Groundhog’s Day episode through the mermaid episode was very strong), but for the most part, it was extremely muddled and confusingly plotted, its head seemingly trapped in the ass of its mythology. Don’t get me wrong, I like shows with deep, rich worlds to explore and I think the show had done a fair job in keeping things balanced before this season, but Lost Girl is a show that works best when it doesn’t take itself too seriously and when it has the wiggle room to throw in some stand-alone episodes along with the mythology. All mythology all the time is not the show I fell in love with and when the stuff they attempt to set up falls flat (what was the point of Rainer besides reminding us how hot Kyle Schmid is?), it all just feels like a waste of time.
-So, anyone who consumes the Papyrus Seed acts like Gollum? Because the guy who played Massimo was half an inch (or centimeter, since this is Canada) from muttering a “my precious” and I’m not sure if that was a case of bad acting, bad directing, or bad both.
-Confession: I did not care about Hale dying. At all. If this were two seasons ago, absolutely, but he’s felt like such a minor part of the show for so long that it was hard to be too emotionally impacted by what happened with Massimo. Plus, it turned Kenzi (irrationally) against Bo and anything that busts up one of the best friendships on television today is not okay with me.
-Drunk Evony is the best Evony. Well, any Evony is the best Evony, but I’d like to see a show about Drunk Evony and Drunk Mellie-from-Scandal just shooting the shit. Because that would be amazing.
-Did anyone else find it a touch sad when Dyson told Bo he loved her and she didn’t say she loved him back? I know succubus monogamy blah blah blah, but this man just laid his heart out on the floor for you and pledged to spend the rest of his life by your side and you can’t even say you love him? C’mon.
-The Bo of “And this is for breaking Kenzi’s heart” is the Bo that I adore and the Bo that keeps me watching this show. The Bo of most of the rest of the season, though, wasn’t my favorite. Too much emphasis on her school girl crush on Rainer, too much of her being selfish at the expense of everyone else in her life.
-Good for Tamsin for telling Bo to get her shit together. Too often, the show can feel a little hero worship-y when it comes to Bo and it’s nice to have somebody to knock her off her pedestal now and then.
-Thank you guys for keeping up with my coverage of Lost Girl‘s fourth season. Though the season was on the whole disappointing, it was still good enough to keep up with and as long as the show can keep the mythology sleek and understandable, I have a feeling that season five will be a notable improvement.
-Take us out, Katy Perry.

As a result of feeling like a freak unworthy of love, she retreated from the mainstream and shut off certain parts of herself, one of which being her desire for companionship. That all changed, though, when she met Kenzi and, later, Dyson, Trick, Lauren, and Tamsin, all of whom stuck by her through the worst and never wandered too far from her orbit.

On the season finale of Lost Girl, Bo enlists Dyson to help contain the portal that sprung up at the end of the last episode. As much as Bo wants to do things on her own and keep her friends out of harm’s way, there’s no chance that she would be able to fight back the undead armies that will be coming through the portal while also defeating the Pyrripus, fulfilling her role in the prophecy, and saving the world as we know it. With Hale gone, Trick a non-factor, Lauren working against the Dark, Kenzi an emotional wreck, and Tamsin still not her old self, it’s up to Dyson to hold the fort and be Bo’s rock, his loyalty to the succubus preventing him from backing away from such a daunting task. If Dyson can hold back whoever tries to enter through the portal long enough, Bo might be able to take care of her other business and have enough left in the tank to close the portal for good, thereby saving her friends and the world as a whole.

Elsewhere on Lost Girl, Massimo strives to please his mother by beheading Bo and using her heart to close the portal to the underworld.

Lost Girl airs Mondays at 10:00 on Syfy.

Will Dyson be able to contain the portal? Should Bo lean into her role in the prophecy and serve as queen? Could we get a glimpse of Bo’s father by the end of the season?

Gone were the tyranny and fear tactics of their rule and it was all thanks to the previously unaligned succubus. However, the Fae haven’t seen the next evolution of their world just yet; even with Trick as acting leader of the Light, he’s just a placeholder for what comes next. And it looks like Bo might have bit off more than she could chew when she decided, along with Rainer, to free their world from the Una Mens once and for all.

On tonight’s episode of Lost Girl, Bo is paid a visit by a knight while at Hale’s wake. The reason? Since Bo was the one who delivered the finishing blow to the rule of the Una Mens, she’s become the Queen of the Order of Rainer and has the opportunity to assume her role in a prophecy foretold centuries ago. However, this all comes after a season of change for Bo, who went from being the vaunted unaligned succubus, whose journey thus far has been all about choice and agency, to having her future mapped out for her thanks to her connection with Rainer and this very prophecy. Bo agreeing to live her life according to what other people say goes against the very essence of who she is, especially considering that those in her life need her now more than ever, but considering her duty to Rainer and her sense of duty toward the greater good, she might not have a choice this time around.

Lost Girl airs tonight at 10:00 on Syfy.

Will Bo assume her role in the prophecy? Is this latest development enough to push Kenzi away from the Fae world for good? Should Bo trust Rainer as much as she has been?

However, thanks to her innate power and the assistance of her team of friends, she’s been able to keep her head above water and figure out why she’s being attacked and what she needs to do in order to emerge on top. It can be tough to make it in the Fae world, particularly for someone unaligned and with few ties, but Bo has made it work for this long and, even if she chooses to stay Dark, has proven that it is possible to stay unaligned.

On tonight’s episode of Lost Girl, Bo gets attacked by a Fae, but it’s a different situation in that she has no clue who sent it and why she was even targeted in the first place. Bo’s profile in the Fae world has been fairly low recently and she’s not really done anything to warrant someone coming at her like this; she’s spent much, if not all, of her time since she arrived back from Rainer’s train trying to piece together what happened between being kidnapped and arriving home and coming to terms with the physical, mental, and emotional impact that the kidnapping had on her. Bo of earlier seasons was not shy about mixing it up with the other Fae and being unafraid of showing the others what she could do and who they would be messing with her if they came for her. This Bo, though, has been decidedly introspective, meaning that whoever sent a Fae after her has a preexisting vendetta against her or is someone looking to making a splash in the Fae world by taking out the famed succubus.

Elsewhere on Lost Girl, Bo’s feelings for someone she loves begin to waver, while Kenzi receives a surprise visitor.

Lost Girl airs tonight at 10:00 on Syfy.

Who do you think sent the Fae to attack Bo? Will Kenzi’s surprise visitor be a good thing or could she be in danger?

You never know what type of creature you’ll be interacting with or whether your safety is guaranteed on a day-to-day basis, but that’s the price the Fae pay in order to do things their way and live (mostly) without the threat of human detection or being smothered by rules that confine them to an extreme degree. However, while the gang might be ready for any type of fight to arise and openminded to the seemingly unending array of Fae that they’ve encountered recently, they hadn’t exactly prepared themselves for Bo proclaiming Rayner to be her soul mate, not after she spent the entirety of her time since returning from the train viewing him as her enemy.

On the next episode of Lost Girl, the gang deals with the fallout of Bo’s decision while out on a mysterious undercover mission. They know that Bo has a certain way of doing things and that she needs the space to be able to figure herself out, especially after her experience on the train and the revelation that she was Dark, but there’s no way they would allow her to run off with Rayner, seemingly on a dime. Aside from the fact that monogamy isn’t exactly Bo’s strong suit, something that the gang accepts and loves about her, they know nothing about this Rayner – what he’s capable of, whether he manipulated Bo into thinking they were soul mates, why he drew her to him in the first place. All they have right now is what Bo says to them and given how lovestruck she sounded when she returned from her second trip to the train, perhaps her word on the subject is not the most valid or impartial.

Elsewhere on Lost Girl, Bo retraces steps that may lead to her destiny and goes up against the Una Mens alongside Rayner.

Lost Girl airs tonight at 10:00 on Syfy.

Why do you think Dyson is so concerned about mermaids being involved in the gang’s mission? Is Bo’s true destiny to be with Rainer or has he manipulated her to believe that? What will Bo find when she retraces her steps after her recent epiphany?

In order to find the answers about herself that she’s so desperately seeking, it’s got to be her that sniffs out the identity of the Wanderer and it’s got to be her that uncovers the circumstances behind her newfound allegiance to the Dark. Bo might have learned how to let people in since Lost Girl began, all by coming to terms with who she is and the fact that she didn’t have to be a killer, but the growing distance she feels from her friends will only motivate her to push harder toward self-actualization.

On the next episode of Lost Girl, Bo’s quest for answers has led her to a murder of crow Fae that inhabit a nearby woods. She’s faced down many a Fae in her day, but the trip into the woods is less about cleaning house and more about using their power to fill in even part of her memory. As much as Bo would like the part of herself that’s missing to magically return, giving her the sense of self and feeling of control that she’s been missing for quite some time, even a tiny lead from her newfound friends would be better than nothing; after all, she was a private investigator for some time and has proven capable of doing detective work far beyond the reach of many Fae, so all it could take for her to uncover the truth behind the Wanderer is one name, one location, one tiny clue that she could magnify into something much greater.

Elsewhere on Lost Girl, Kenzi makes it her mission to find out what Trick’s hiding.

Lost Girl airs Mondays at 10:00 on Syfy.

What do you think Trick is hiding about the Wanderer? How will the jar that Bo found in the last episode play into this? Is Bo truly ready for whatever turns up regarding the Wanderer and her place in the Dark?

After being abducted by the Wanderer and having to dig into the black hole that is her memory, where her recollection of signing herself over to the dark is hiding, Bo hasn’t been able to be the succubus that she’s used to being; rather than acting as the sole protector of her loved ones, an untouchable entity in Fae society who has control over any situation and self-assurance in her abilities, she’s been a bit adrift, unable to come and go as she pleases and at a loss as to her place in the Fae world.

On the next episode of Lost Girl, Bo will get the chance that she needs to save her friends and find some semblance of normalcy when a time loop develops. Along with Tamsin, she’s the only hope in breaking the loop and restoring the status quo, except that when she approaches Trick, she receives a warning that he’s too afraid to help her find the Wanderer. As much as Bo needs to focus on finding the seam in the time loop, which will help her locate the sense of self that’s not been as readily available recently, there’s no doubt that this piece of knowledge about the Wanderer will stick with her and inform her actions for the rest of the season. For Trick to not want to divulge the Wanderer’s identity, it has to be either someone close to her or someone she doesn’t want to be involved in, but once Bo figures out a way to restore time to its normal state, she’s got to go after the Wanderer and find the answers to the questions that have haunted her since her return from the train.

Elsewhere on Lost Girl, Kenzi and Hale prepare to spend their first night together, while Lauren and Dyson disagree over what to do with a mysterious package.

Lost Girl airs tonight at 10:00 on Syfy.

How will Bo be able to stop the time loop? Will Kenzi and Hale’s first night together come to fruition? Who do you think the package will be from?

After fighting her way out of a Wanderer-induced captivity and beginning the search into what caused her to sign over her allegiance to the Dark, Bo’s already been through quite a bit this season on Lost Girl, meaning that her support system has become all the more important. She’s always needed Kenzi, Dyson, and Trick to be the best succubus that she could be, but they’ve been the blood that flows through her veins during season four, the very reason that she’s able to get up in the morning and keep pushing forward even when things aren’t looking so hot. But can she find a way to free Dyson from the clutches of the Una Mens?

On the next episode of Lost Girl, Bo gets inside Dyson’s memory as a way of digging up the evidence necessary to exonerate him from the murder charges. Along with Tamsin, she’ll be going back to the time that the murder supposedly took place in order to get Dyson’s side of the story, seeing as how there’s a good chance that the accusations aren’t based on fact and that the Una Mens are only pursuing them due to her connection with Dyson. Bo has made it her mission to protect her friends by any means necessary and while she might be able to get Dyson off without facing any punishment for the trumped-up charges, the fact that she’ll be going up against the Una Mens against can only mean that a bigger target will be placed on her back going forward.

Lost Girl airs Mondays at 10:00 on Syfy.

Will Bo be able to find enough evidence to exonerate Dyson? Who do you think has brought up the murder accusations? Is Bo’s journey into Dyson’s mind going to help her search into the whereabouts Rainer?

After years of confusion about her true identity and trying to conform to the way society wanted her to be, she decided to throw away convention and live the way she wanted, which served her well through her abduction by the Wanderer. However, once she returned back from the alternate plane of existence and learned of her newfound loyalty to the Dark, she was no longer Bo, the unaligned succubus who doesn’t adhere to the structure of Fae society; she’s now selectively amnesia sufferer Bo, who must figure out the identity of who got her to sign her allegiance to Evony while rebuilding the part of her memory that was destroyed when she leapt off the train.

On the next episode of Lost Girl, Bo rescues an opera singer whose voice may be the key to restoring her memory and renouncing her allegiance to the Dark in favor of her previously unaligned state. While part of her annoyance at being aligned is in being told what to do and having someone to answer to, where it could really hurt her is in situations like this, where her status of a Dark Fae might not allow her the same ins and social movement that she would have in her previous incarnation. The reason Bo was such a successful private investigator early in the run of Lost Girl was her ability to blow through the Fae bureaucracy that those who were aligned had to adhere to; now, though, she’s one of the masses, wrapped up in red tape and personal biases based on who she’s pledged her allegiance to. Once Bo brings the singer to safety, will she be able to unalign herself once more? Or are more obstacles to loosening Evony’s grip on her going to pop up instead?

Elsewhere on Lost Girl, someone from Hale’s past seeks to harm Kenzi.

Lost Girl airs Mondays at 10:00 on Syfy.

Who do you think got Bo to sign her allegiance over to the dark? Why would somebody be looking to harm Kenzi? Is there a chance that Lauren renounces her loyalty to Evony and comes back to the Light?
