Each poster carries no tag line, there is nothing written at all on any one of them, just this deep blood red and misty look which depicts the darkness and the depth of vampirism in the series. Does that mean that The Originals is even cynical than the Vampire Diaries? New Orleans is headed towards deep trouble! Although, Julie Plec who is the Executive Producer of the series, has declared that The Originals is more adult that VD, where the characters are just entering college, this season.

All the eight characters are led by Klaus, played by Joseph Morgan, his former apprentice Marcel, portrayed by Charles Michael Davis and two members of the Original family, Rebekah and Elijah, played by Claire Holt and Daniel Gillies, respectively. Other important characters on the individual posters are Hayley (Phoebe Tonkin), Camille (Leah Pipes), Davina (Danielle Campbell) and Sophie (Daniela Pineda).

Julie also said that the purpose of The Originals is completely different from VD as the show is not about fighting against vampires or besieged to become one, it’s all about acceptance & welcoming Vampirism and celebrating it. The series is all about the communities of families and of supernaturals of a whole city. The characters in series are mature, they are already graduates and pursuing their master’s degree.

This Vampire Diaries spin-off is programmed to premier after the leading series on October 3^rd. till then, have a look at these posters of not one, but a team of eight deadly vampires.

They thought it would be easy to stop the mauling, after all, the town was awash in verain – a rather cunning plan, I might add.

To tackle her great desire to a) nibble on some flesh and b) have a good time doing it, Elena rejoined the cheerleading squad with disastrous consequences. After she ate some of the competition and donned her hair ribbon as a trophy, she decided later it might be fun to throw a party at the Salvatore mansion to get everyone else off her back.

All of this started because of a love triangle between Stefan, Elena and Damon. Damon’s blood turned Elena and in odds that cannot even be described, she formed a sire bond with him. During this incredible trip, we learned it was Damon who met Elena first, but compelled her to forget him. She could have easily fallen in love with him first, but his actions prevented it. The triangle was much deeper than we were lead to believe. Even Stefan thought that Damon’s desire for Elena relied heavily on leftover feelings for Katherine, Elena’s doppelganger  than it did for Elena herself.

Interestingly, the same could be said for Stefan, but since he had tossed his badassery aside for emotions and a more humanistic approach to vampirism, it was forgiven. You catch more flies with honey than you do with vinegar. Elena saw through the stinging side of Damon over and over again to form a friendship with him that nobody understood. Damon himself had a difficult time believing that a girl as sweet as Elena could see through his armor to the man he had hidden so deeply inside.

So when she fell so deeply in love with him after being turned, at first it was chalked up to her new found freedom of thought as a vampire. She had lost the ties that bind humans to to the more strict moral code and understood Damon more than ever. Elena and Damon reveled in each other. They flourished. Until Stefan decided there was nobody on this earth, human or vampire, who could possibly love his brother so deeply. It had to be a sire bond.

Stefan is the worst brother in the world.

It was Stefan’s great idea that by breaking the bond, Elena would be free to choose between the brothers and find her own way again. Except it backfired. It hurt. Damon remembered how much it hurt the first girl who was under his sire bond to lose him, but he went along with it. For his brother and because he wanted to do what was best for Elena. He also didn’t want Elena’s love under false pretenses. When you’re in love, the last thing you want is someone loving you back because of a spell. You want the real thing.

Just because Damon told Elena to walk away from him, didn’t mean the bond was entirely broken. She was just set adrift. Until Jeremy died. Then Stefan demanded even more from his brother. To tell Elena to turn off her emotion so she could stop hurting. So Elena turned off her emotion, and it turned out emotion was the string holding her to Damon. Without emotion the bond was truly broken.

Thank you, Stefan, for completely tossing Elena to the wind. No love, no emotion, no protection from herself. She’s lost and doing whatever she wants whenever she wants. Damon saw in her a bit of himself and took her to New York under the guise of finding Katherine and the cure. We’ll pick that story up tonight. They’ll party, feed, paint the town red – literally.

The real question lies in just how far gone Elena is. I believe a good portion of her behavior is an act, to teach the brothers Salvatore a lesson that they can’t play with the lives of others without consequences. It wasn’t Stefan’s decision to make whether she was happy due to a sire bond or not. She was happy. He should have let her stay that way. It was selfish of him to question. He was unaware of how close she and Damon had become pre-vampire, so he had no frame of reference for her feelings. Deciding that not feeling instead of feeling too much – also not his call to make. Stefan has been playing her like a puppet on a string, and if she’s in there, she should be pissed.

My call is a lot more of her behavior is an act. She’s torn between her love for Damon and Stefan and has chosen to stuff her humanity as far into her psyche as possible. Can she pull it out? Yes. Whether she chooses to and what she’ll do with it when she brings it out will be the most exciting part of Elena’s journey. Will she be more angry with Stefan for pulling the strings or with Damon for going along with it? With the right skill, this could be the biggest story The Vampire Diaries has ever played out.

Klaus and Hayley spent the night doing the nasty and apparently setting up storyline for CW’s upcoming pilot, The Oirignals, while Tyler left the deed to his house to Matt and told Caroline goodbye – for good. Caroline was left to clean the Salvatore mansion after Elena’s big party. Not a fun task to begin with, it was interrupted by a visit from the man who sent her love running. Watch this clip to see how Caroline reacts when she sees Klaus.

Meanwhile, Damon thought getting Elena out of Dodge (er..Mystic Falls) and into the Big Apple might be good for her. They can look for Katherine who is harboring the vampire cure they procured after resurrecting Silas and munch on unsuspecting New Yorkers without anyone noticing. In the city that never sleeps, they can slip in and out with hardly leaving a whisper behind. Or can they? Even in a city that size, Damon is bound to run into someone he knows. The clue is in the photo above (featuring guest star, Arielle Kebbel), not the clip below.

In the clip, Stefan reminds Damon that without her humanity, Elena is ruthless, but that doesn’t seem to stop them from a sexy romp above the NYC skyline (like you do). While they’re getting it on, Stefan tries to convince Klaus that his brother knows what he’s doing.

I’d say the odds on Caroline forgiving Klaus are far better than Damon and Elena leaving New York City unscathed, or the city making it through a night their unholy coupling without a scrape or two of its own.

Other than that whimsy, pretty much everything went wrong.

I don’t even know what the hell was going on, to be honest. Professor Shane and Hayley had some sort of a plan to do something. We knew that, but learned tonight that it was to find Hayley’s parents. I didn’t know her parents were missing. It all came down to some sort of a sacrifice of 12 hybrids. We never did learn the purpose of the sacrifice (to revive Silas?), but it didn’t matter, because Klaus got wind of what was going on with Tyler’s plan to kill him ( different plan, also involving the 12 and I missed how Klaus sniffed out the plan) and slaughtered the lambs himself. To ensure Tyler felt as alone as he did, he also killed Carol Lockwood.

So, two plans, two complete failures.

Also, Damon was supposed to de-sire (he already desires) Elena. He waited a little too long, and Caroline opened her big mouth and told her new BFF Stefan. Now Stefan thinks Damon went against his word, so any mending of fences they had done has collapsed as well.

Speaking of idiotic things Caroline did – she played dead in front of April and then compelled her to forget. But April has been wearing Jeremy’s vervain bracelet and can’t be compelled. Now she knows something ain’t quite right with Mystic Falls and being Miss Mystic Falls has a few drawbacks.

Elena and Damon are still in love, but her body just thinks it should be elsewhere. What the hell good does that do for anyone? If I were Stefan, Elena is the last person I would want under the circumstances. Forcing someone who loves you to stay away is torture, and doesn’t make them love someone else. I don’t understand that plot line and I hope it becomes clearer when the show returns.

Who am I kidding, I hope a lot of things become clearer when Vampire Diaries returns. This was a horrible mid-season finale. There. I said it. It was confusing, relatively pointless and showed just how alone each and every character on the show has become. Most of them through their own lame actions. Caroline is a bitch, Stefan is a control freak, Klaus is a cold blooded killer, Tyler was just enjoying being an Alpha, Hayley trusted the wrong person and Bonnie and Jeremy are trusting him now, too. Elena and Damon seemed like the only people who were in a sane place, and he just compelled her to stay away from him.

Aaaaaack. Frankly, I was loving this season until this whole sire bond thing happened. And this….this holiday tripe was just awful. I can only hope we see a change for the better in January. Please.

I suppose it’s all kinds of exciting if you’re a giant Tyler fan that he’s a pack master. Frankly, I find the whole plot line beyond boring. They’ve given me no reason to care. They keep breaking the sire bond between hybrids and Klaus. To what end? What’s their end game? To …. break away from Klaus? They aren’t going to kill him, even in a pack, so they can give up that notion. If they aren’t forced to act upon his wishes, why do they even care? As long as Elena is a vampire, Klaus can’t make more hybrids so they’re pretty much free to do as they please.

Of course, there is the big super secret plan that the Nutty Professor has up his freshly starched sleeve, but since he’s managed to make Phoebe Tonkin an unwelcome character when I was so hoping she would be something more, he’s yet another player that can scoot along. He’s ruined what could have been in Hayley and further destroyed an already greatly diminished Bonnie. They are sidelined, at best.

Klaus thought he had this wicked secret to share with Caroline that would rock the house to its core – Damon sired Elena and that’s why she was doing everything he said. It was a one in a million freak occurrence  Caroline said. But it could happen! They had to find out!

Nothing like another incredibly annoying jaunt back in time to determine that it’s not only happened before, but it’s happened to DAMON before. Seriously? One in a million? Are we to believe Damon has sired two million vampire babies? Yeah, I didn’t think so either. To go that route was a terrible miscarriage of storyline justice and to use Madeline Zima, who destroyed Hank Moody’s life on Californication as the sired vampire was even more insulting.

What good came of “We’ll Always Have Bourbon Street?” Damon proved, yet again, that he really loves Elena and doesn’t want her if he can only do so through nefarious methods. He learned siring a vampire doesn’t mean you control what they are feeling, only the way they act upon those feelings. Elena loves Damon. There is no longer a question about that. But – would she still choose to act upon that love if he wasn’t somehow pulling invisible marionette strings to keep her by his side?

Elena doesn’t want to find out. She is happy and doesn’t want him to tell her to go away. She knows she will continue to love him, but will act according to his wishes to leave his side. Damon knows he’s the bad guy, but he knows the only person he has ever wanted to do right by, who he has HAD to do right by, was Elena. And the story ended there. With Elena begging of him to think about whether they felt right together and Damon fighting every urge to do the right thing.

Why isn’t there a happy medium here? They do love each other. Surely there is some magical way to phrase what Damn needs to say to Elena that will allow her to choose to follow her heart, without forcing her to stand by his side. ‘Elena, you are in love with two men. It is up to you to follow your heart and choose where it takes you.  They choice is yours and yours alone. No man can tell you what choice to make, you may only listen to your heart. You are free from the bond I have provided you, but if your heart desires, you may return. Or you may choose another.’ Why wouldn’t that work? It sounds very hoodoo (whatever that means), but certainly doesn’t plant a seed requiring her to be any one place for any one reason. It requires no action on her part but to act according to her own wishes.

And so I have written. Let it be done.

What are the odds anything like that will happen next week? The promo didn’t even hint upon where that scene lead. What are your thoughts?

Can anyone blame him for thinking Stefan is grasping at straws to prove Elena has gone batty rather than just fallen for Damon? Stefan sure has his head shoved up his own arse, doesn’t he? As well as the rest of Mystic Falls. It truly amazes me that not one person in that town can bring themselves to see any of the good Damon has done over the years, by temporarily removing their blinders, if even more a minute.

It was Stefan who went totally off the rails only a year ago, kicking around with Klaus on a wild killing spree, but nobody even remembers that any longer. He’s saintly, Damon is a demon. Aptly named, as well. There is a part of Damon that allows himself to question whether Stefan is right, and Damon has somehow manipulated the situation without any intention. That has to hurt.

If things go down such that it turns out Damon has had an impact on Elena’s decisions by becoming the inspiring the sire bond in vampire history, then I hope like hell everything else that has happened between them and between Stefan and Elena causes her to pause before running back to Stefan and truly examine the situation she’s in. She has had doubts, she has been torn between the brothers, even as a human.

No matter what the result of the potential sire bond, let’s see the adult Elena has become rule the teenage heart.

I really need to understand something, and I don’t. Who the hell is that Professor Shane? Hayley is working with him. To what end? I admit I didn’t expect Hayley to be a bad girl, but we don’t really know if Shane is a bad guy, do we? I want to speed up the clock on him and find out some answers. I admit, I love spoilers, so if you have any, please don’t  hesitate to tell me. Just don’t tell me in the comments and ruin the mystery everybody else loves! Damon was cozying up to him searching for information, but even thought various press outlets said we might learn something through their talks, I sure didn’t.

Whatever her true purpose for being in town, whether some hidden agenda with Professor Shane or working with Tyler to free all of the sired hybrids from Klaus, I have to thank her for bringing in Kim, the next to the last hybrid played by none other than Alyssa Diaz, effectively making a little Nine Lives of Chloe King reunion, with Grace Phipps, in Mystic Falls! Now, if they would just have a scene together. Who knows how long she’ll be sticking around though. Diaz has been popping up all over the place, even on Revolution a few episodes back. Good for her!

Long before Elena confronted Stefan about using Jeremy to cure Elena, even if it means Jeremy’s life if ruined, I was already thinking it. Stefan has been incapable of loving Elena as a vampire. He’s made it very clear by his incessant pursuit of a cure for her vampirism. I find it rather annoying that everybody thinks just because Elena might be in love with Damon she must be under his control somehow. Caroline’s wild accusations of a sire bond at the end really got me. They’ve definitely played it to make us wonder. Every time Damon says something, Elena agrees. The thing is, what Damon says usually makes sense. People just hate Damon.

Damon is the one who loves Elena for who she is, no matter what. That goes back to to the first time they met on the side of the road. He could have forced her to love him, but he didn’t. He never even let on that they met before she and Stefan did. If he was going to take advantage of her, he had his opportunities to do so. If she is under some sort of a sire spell, nobody will be as hurt as Damon, because his feelings for her have always been true.

The other problem with rushing to judgement on the issue of a sire bond being the reason Elena loves Damon is she has always been conflicted about Damon, and she’s only recently become a vampire. Becoming a vampire heightens feelings you already have. Of course her feelings for Damon would be driven to the forefront. She was remembering when they danced. Nothing vampy about that.

The other thing that has been heightened since she’s become a vamp is her ability to notice how others treat her. Like a child. Most people in Mystic Falls think she’s incapable of caring for herself. Caroline’s rant about Damon didn’t hold much weight when she’s so smitten with Klaus. Frankly, I’m sick of everyone treating Elena with kid gloves. She’s very strong. More than most of the people in Mystic Falls considering she was one of the last humans left in town.

If Vampire Diaries decides to pursue the sire bond between she and Damon, and use it as a reason to make her question her strength, I’m going to be angry. It’s time to let her stand on her own and make decisions just like every other character has been allowed to do. All of the vampires in town are scurrying to find a cure to make Elena a different person again, but we’ve only heard from Stefan and Klaus about their thoughts on taking the cure. I guess everyone else is fine without their humanity, and only Elena’s is worth saving.

Caroline puts all of her money on Klaus without a sire bond about Elena position, but Elena can’t do the same with Damon for love. Hmmm. Think about that Caroline.

Yes, a lot happened on “We All Go A Little Mad Sometimes.” Elena killed Jeremy. Oops. She saw Connor about 30 times (which is why she killed Jeremy). The Brothers Salvatore went to Bonnie to ask for her useless witchy woman help. A bunch of Klaus sire pack stuff went down and Phoebe Tonkin continued to be greatly underused. When it all came down to it, none of that mattered. Let’s talk about why.

Something has  happened to Damon since Elena became a vampire. He realized that on equal footing, he didn’t want to fight with his brother for the love of the same woman. He was willing to accept that Stefan loved Elena, wanted what was best for her and even started telling Elena the truth about Stefan. In the past, when given the opportunity, Damon might have stretched truth, misguided Elena around the truth or even downright lied to keep her from knowing that Stefan was doing things in her best interest. Not any more.

Damon loves Elena enough to allow her and Stefan to be in love. Unencumbered with his interference. I don’t know if it’s because there is an eternity ahead and things could change at any moment, or if he’s really learned something, but it’s very attractive to behold. This Delena fan was more impressed with the possibilities of them as a couple than ever.

To top it off, Elena doesn’t trust Stefan right now. I knew last week that would come back to bite him in the ass. She’s been lied to so many times, the truth is what she craves. That the one person giving it to her is the one from whom she least expects it, at the time when her senses are most heightened? Earth to Stefan! You’re not thinking like a centuries old vampire, my friend. I loved the conversation Damon had with Elena, saying he was going to regret telling her the truth and Stefan would be pissed, but he had to let her know everything Stefan has done lately has been for her. There is a cure.

None of it stopped Elena from being driven by her hallucinations to the river, visiting with her dead mother and attempting to kill herself. Damon knew her well enough to find her (third time’s a charm!), even if it was Stefan who sent him knowing Elena no longer trusts him, and Damon saved her life. It wouldn’t be The Vampire Diaries if Stefan and Damon weren’t conflicted and loving and hating each other at the same time.

Nothing prepared me for Elena telling Stefan what she was feeling for Damon and breaking things off with him. The kicker is I don’t think Damon is going to be able to just pick up and start things with Elena. His conscience has taken hold of him. I imagine him questioning whether Elena knows what she feels, whether he will end up hurt, what it will do to Stefan.  A whole host of things the Damon we knew two years ago would have never done. Of course, I could be completely wrong.

If ever there was a time when Damon could use his best friend Alaric, it’s now. I have a feeling that need is only going to intensify as he realizes what Elena feels for him and how difficult it would be to push it aside. What do you think? Will he grab at the opportunity or try to do the right thing and give her time to understand what she’s really feeling?

Apparently killing a Hunter has its consequences, which include little things like hallucinations. Elena’s are pretty awful. We saw the beginning of them last week when she stumbled into the bathroom and it was covered in blood. That would be bad enough, but coming face to face with the doppelganger who has given you nothing but heartache in the past, and who you now have essentially become must be frightening!

I love the dynamic we’re seeing with Damon and Stefan in the second clip. They aren’t letting the fiasco of the killing get between their normal brotherly love. Damon always knows the right thing to say to make Stefan feel calmer in the face of adversity, “It’s time to face the music, and the piper, and dance with the devil.”

Klaus has no idea that Jeremy is the next Hunter, yet. How long until he figures that out and what will it mean to Jeremy’s future? We know he’ll be safe from death, but not from harm. I could easily see Klaus wanting to cage him up, but he’ll still need to feed him vampires to kill if he wants that tattoo to grow to lead to the cure. So much to ponder. I’m disappointed that after everything Caroline has been through with Tyler she still thinks the worst of him when it comes to Haley. Tsk tsk tsk. I hope Phoebe Tonkin has more to do with breaking the sire bond now that she’s in town, because just standing around isn’t doing her acting skills justice. She needs to find someone to pair up with. My gut says Damon, because they would be so smoking hot, but Damon will remain in love with Elena for quite some time to come. I don’t want Haley used as a plaything.

April, on the other hand, looks adorable with Matt. They are the last two humans left in Mystic Falls. Could there be hope for them? I don’t know what Jeremy put on her wrist, but I’m guessing it’s some sort of protection bracelet. I’m enjoying Grace Phipps and April.

Before we jump into the good stuff, let’s touch briefly on Bonnie. Sorry folks, She’s still a pointless character. She hasn’t had a good story for years and this Professor Shane stuff is just crap. She’s only summoned when needed for a spell. Can’t someone else learn spells? She’s not Elena’s friend. She’s not Jeremy’s lover. What purpose does she serve? If you can tell me otherwise, I’ll go with it.

Onto the good stuff.

Stefan and Damon fighting had such potential, but Stefan killed that by riddling Damon with Vervain. Stefan thinks he’s protecting Elena by saving Connor for a cure, but he was so wrong to think that Damon wouldn’t want to save her I wanted him dead. Not Stefan, Connor. How could Stefan really be so blind not to have figured out by now that everything Damon does for Elena he does for the best of her? He wasn’t teaching her to feed so that she would lose herself and become a bloodthirsty beast, but because he knew she couldn’t survive without human blood. What was her choice? She could run around starving, refusing to eat because of how it made her feel to feed on humans, or Damon could try to make her see some of the fun in being a vampire, even if every ounce of his being wanted her to life to go differently.

Stefan’s lack of judgement in that area worries me. He’s so wrapped up in his own ideas of how to serve and protect Elena that he thinks anyone else who dares must be doing it for impure reasons. That’s why I can’t support their relationship. He thinks he’s putting her first, but it’s what he thinks of her that he considers before he worries about the girl, the woman, Elena. How brilliant was it that Damon told Stefan he loves Elena whether human or vampire and questioned Stefan’s own intentions? It still surprises me how many people ship Stelena. The only thing they seem to have in common at the moment are their Vampire Diaries.

Elena surprised them both by ending Connor’s life herself, didn’t she? By keeping his stupid secrets, Stefan did everything wrong again. He’s his own worst enemy. Even Damon standing up for his brother didn’t make up for the fact that it was Stefan’s inability to be truthful with the woman he loved that caused her to do the one thing he was trying so woefully to stop. In her first killing being Connor, Elena unwittingly made Jeremy the next full time Five member. Now he has to kill vampires, and a lot of them, for the tattoo to take over his body. Who’s going to create them for him to kill? Somebody has to do it, especially if that’s the only way to find a cure. Wait – does a cure even work if you’ve already killed? Or was Stefan just trying to stop Elena from losing her humanity from killing prior to receiving the cure?

Thank you last 15 minutes, for making up for the first 45 uneventful ones that I had to rewatch several times. I daresay it was worth the effort. Next week is going to kick ass. We will have not one, but to vamps to enjoy. Elena and Katherine! Mark your calendars and I’ll see you then!
