An experience like that will change anyone, no matter how emotionally hardened they consider themselves, and Linden will have to deal with the inner turmoil of taking a life while investigating the murder of a family, possibly at the hands of their military student son. Can Linden keep her feelings about her own misdeeds locked up long enough to investigate the case and find justice for the victims? Or will that close a proximity to a grisly murder unnerve her to the point where she wants to confess?

Joining the fourth season of The Killing are Joan Allen (The Crucible) as Margaret O’Neal, the head of the military school Holder and Linden investigate; Sterling Beaumon (Red Widow) as deeply troubled Lincoln, a boy dealing with anger issues; Levi Meaden (Almost Human) as overachiever AJ, a student at the military school; Tyler Ross (V/H/S/2) as Cameron, the black sheep of a well-connected family; and Frances Fisher (Resurrection) as Linden’s mother.

The fourth and final season of The Killing will be released Friday, August 1st on Netflix.

Will you be watching the final season of The Killing? Do you think Linden will be able to keep the secret of Skinner’s death? How will the new case impact the dynamic between Linden and Holder?

The troubled crime drama, which was canceled by AMC twice over the course of two years, will finish out its run with a six-episode season that finds Holder and Linden investigating a murder at a military school.

It should be interesting to see not only how the show folds Linden back into the police world after she gunned down Skinner at the end of season three, but how Linden conducts herself out in the field. No matter how cold and jaded someone is, experiencing death on that level and being responsible for the end of someone’s life carries a great emotional impact and unless the show employs a time jump, Linden will be carrying her guilt throughout season four. With a case featuring boys about her son’s age, her obsessive tendencies could threaten to swallow her up, but if Linden is able to keep control and compartmentalize her feelings as best she can, this might end up being a good case for her to go out on, as she’ll be able to exorcise some demons and leave the field with her sanity and sensitivity still in tact.

Joining the cast of The Killing for season four are Tony winner Joan Allen (The Crucible) as Margaret O’Neal, the head of the military school Holder and Linden investigate; Sterling Beaumon (Red Widow) as Lincoln, a deeply troubled boy with anger issues; Levi Meaden (Almost Human) as AJ, an overachieving student at the military school; Tyler Ross (V/H/S/2) as Cameron, the black sheep of a well-connected family; and Frances Fisher (Resurrection) as Linden’s mother.

Will you be watching The Killing this season? How would you like to see the show end, considering the events of last season? Would you like to see Netflix rescue more shows on the verge of cancellation?

Ross is set to play Cameron, the black sheep of a well-connected family, while Beaumon will portray Lincoln, a deeply troubled boy with anger issues, and Meaden AJ, an overachieving student.

The fourth season of The Killing will find Holder and Linden looking into a murder at a military school, though what will be most interesting to see is Linden’s mental state after killing Skinner at the end of season three. Her obsessiveness with cases and need to see justice served has gotten her into trouble in the past and nearly cost her everything that she holds near and dear, but she has never had to deal with something like what happened in the woods and there’s no doubt that it will impact both the way she does her job and the way she lives her life for a time to come. Will Linden be able to keep it together for the duration of this latest investigation? Or will we see her unravel at having to put herself into such a bad place again?

Ross’ television credits include Major Crimes, Boss, and NCIS, while Beaumon has appeared on the likes of Lost, Criminal Minds, and Kickin’ It. Meanwhile, Meaden’s television work includes The Secret Circle, Behind the 8 Ball, and an upcoming episode of The 100. The trio join previously cast Joan Allen, who will be playing the head of an all-boys military academy in the six-episode season.

The fourth and final season of The Killing is set to premiere later this year on Netflix.

Will you be watching the final season of The Killing? How do you think the journey of Holder and Linden will ultimately come to a close? Is there any chance that the two detectives will find a sense of peace while trapped in an occupation where they deal with murder, grief, and injustice on a daily basis?

She’s set to play Margaret O’Neal, the head of an all-boys military academy based outside of Seattle.

When we last left The Killing, Linden killed Skinner in the middle of the woods after finding out that he was the one responsible for the recent string of abductions and murders. As such, it seems likely that she won’t be a member of Seattle PD when season four picks up, if only for the psychological damage she suffered once she pulled the trigger on her former lover. But Linden is a cop to the core and someone who cannot get her mind out of that type of mode, so it’s no surprise that she eventually finds her way into the latest investigation, set to take place in and around the military academy headed by Allen’s character. Can Linden find a way to hold it together long enough to complete the investigation into the latest high-profile murders to happen in Seattle? Or is her psyche too bruised and battered to be able to withstand the emotional turmoil that cops go through in cases like this?

In addition to her Oscar nominations for Nixon, The Crucible, and The Contender, Allen has appeared on the likes of Luck, Frasier, and The Twilight Zone. Additional casting for the fourth season of The Killing should be announced in the coming weeks.

The fourth season of The Killing will premiere later this year on Netflix.

Will you be watching The Killing this season? Where do you think the show will go following the events of the third season finale? Is it possible for Holder and Linden to, if not have a happy ending, find the peace that has thus far eluded them?

Reportedly set to feature six installments and billed as the final season, season four will feature the return of Mireille Enos and Joel Kinnaman, as well as showrunner Veena Sud, whose four-person writing staff will convene shortly. There’s been no word released on when the season would premiere.

The Killing was cancelled for the second time this past September, despite improved reviews for its third season and okay ratings. The numbers, though, were in line with where the show ended its second season, numbers that got it cancelled the first time. The show was only able to make it back for said third season due to Netflix agreeing to take on part of its licensing cost, but with AMC having two new dramas in the pipeline and renewing Hell on Wheels after a surprisingly strong showing on Saturdays, it won’t be returning to television for its final go-around.

It’s very rare for an original scripted series to be resurrected by another network, considering how much red tape has to be cut through and how the financials have to be in perfect alignment, so for The Killing to be brought back from the dead twice in the span of less than two years is nothing short of remarkable. Though Netflix is billing the fourth season as the final installment in the journey of Sarah Linden and Stephen Holder, the fact that it does well enough on the streaming service to even get another season after a second cancellation makes me think that a (currently hypothetical) fifth season isn’t such a stretch.

Do you think that Netflix made a good decision in renewing The Killing for a fourth season? What type of case would you like to see Linden and Holder pursue next season? Would you like to see more cancelled cable dramas be resurrected by Netflix?

The third season of the crime drama, which wrapped up early last month and drew improved reviews over the first two seasons, was essentially flat with the ratings for season two, though Netflix agreeing to take on part of the licensing cost helped make the financials work.

“We have made the difficult decision not to move forward with a fourth season of The Killing,” AMC said in a statement to Deadline. “We want to thank our great partners at Fox Television Studios, creator Veena Sud, an extraordinary cast and the dedicated fans who watched.”

While The Killing‘s situation likely made the series profitable for the network, it couldn’t stand up to AMC’s upcoming programming, which includes period piece Halt & Catch Fire, spy drama Turn, and sci-fi pilot Line of Sight, the latter seemingly on track for a series pickup of its own. The Veena Sud-created series may be a known commodity and coming off its most positively received season, but the network seems to be going for bigger swings and a higher audience ceiling than what The Killing could offer, deal or no deal.

What will be intriguing to watch is how the chances of Low Winter Sun and Hell on Wheels will be impacted by the cancellation of The Killing. The former has not been able to get out of Breaking Bad‘s shadow enough to carve out an audience, while the latter has held up modestly well in its move to Saturdays, which coincided with a change in showrunner. If AMC happens to believe deeply enough in their upcoming series, there’s a chance that at least one, if not both, of the remaining unrenewed dramas could see themselves join The Killing in the AMC graveyard.

Did AMC make the right decision in cancelling The Killing for a second time? Is this good news for a show like Low Winter Sun, which has struggled to find an audience thus far? Will we see either Kinnaman or Enos on television again in the near future?

While Linden wasn’t able to find the other person in the Seward apartment the night that Trisha was murdered, that minor hole would have to be acceptable because without Ray (or any other leads to follow), there was no way for her to continue the investigation. However, on the third season finale of The Killing, there’s a chance that both the Pied Piper and Trisha Seward cases aren’t as closed as Linden thinks they are.

That’s because another body has been found, this one dead for two weeks and with its ring finger cut off; it couldn’t have been Mills that moved the body, seeing as how he’s locked up, so he would have to be working with someone. Attention turns to Seattle PD, who were crawling all over the Mills storage unit and already had access to the files on the Pied Piper case, but there’s not one person who stands out as being the likely accomplice to Mills. With no lead to go on, Holder and Linden will have to deftly look into who they’ve been sharing close quarters with over the past few weeks and see if there’s any way someone from their office could have been involved in the crime that they themselves were investigating. If so, they’ll have to overcome Linden’s tarnished reputation and Holder’s grief over losing Bullet in order to see that the right people are brought to justice and peace is rendered unto the parents of those deceased. But in the process of closing the case, what will they discover of Kallie’s whereabouts?

Elsewhere on The Killing, someone dear to Sarah goes missing, while the detectives pick up a new assignment and deal with the aftermath of the Pied Piper case.

The two-hour third season finale of The Killing airs Sunday, August 4th at 9:00 on AMC.

Do you think there’s somebody at Seattle PD who could be involved in the abductions and murders? Who would you say is responsible for the murder of Trisha Seward? What type of assignment will the detectives pick up next?

On paper, it seems as if they’re making the wrong choice, since Danette found her daughter’s cell phone in Joe’s bag and it was his voice on the tapes made in the motel, but rather than looking strictly at the evidence, they went over what Angie told them and found something that could link Mike to the crimes. All the talk of “saving” Angie led them to look at a possible religious/moral aspect to the murders, which circled them back around to unassuming Pastor Mike, who makes his living giving food and shelter to those without either.

But by dedicating his life to helping the street kids of Seattle, Mike has the perfect set-up to commit acts against those like Ashley, Kallie, and Angie; he has a sterling reputation and tangible proof that he’s doing good for the kids, while he interacts with enough of them to gain their trust and have his pick of the bunch in terms of who he wants to “save”. No one would think to look into the pastor-with-a-heart-of-gold, not when he’s so entrenched in the street kid community and beloved by those within it, but until Joe Mills can be apprehended and questioned, Linden and Holder need to check every possible suspect that could have had something to do with the murders.

Elsewhere on The Killing, Seward battles his own mortality as his hanging draws nearer, while Bullet assumes the role of protector. Has she struck up a friendship with Danette, founded on their loneliness without Kallie, or did the kiss with Lyric bring the two closer together, to the point where Bullet has made it her goal to protect the working girl?

The Killing airs Sundays at 9:00 on AMC.

Do you think that Pastor Mike is the mastermind behind the murders? Is Kallie still alive, wherever she may be? Should Linden and Holder be diverting their attention from Joe Mills at this point, since they haven’t had a chance to bring him in for questioning?

After years of investing her mind, body, and spirit into each case, to the detriment of her relationships with friends and family, she finally had enough and quit Seattle PD following the closing of Rosie Larsen investigation. Now would be the time for her to repair the damage that her career had done to her physically and emotionally, as she had to shrug off the demons that clung to her and devote time not only to her son but to herself. However, on the season premiere of The Killing, Linden gets a double dose of nostalgia that will threaten the newfound stability she’s found in her life.

18 months after their goodbye, Holder has found her again and wants to ask questions regarding a case Linden thought she closed. Details of Holder’s case (working girl with a nearly severed head) match up with Linden’s former investigation and he thinks that they can pool their resources; however, Linden’s not necessarily convinced that there is a connection, as it would mean that she put away the wrong man. Whatever doubts she may have about Holder and the validity of the similarities between the two cases are turned upside down once she returns to her victim’s home and sees that her son has been drawing again. The same drawing of barren trees and a coffin that she had last season. Is Linden going to have to come to terms with the fact that her time as a detective hasn’t quite ended yet?

The two-hour third season premiere of The Killing airs tonight at 8:00 on AMC. You can check out additional sneak peeks here.

Are you looking forward to seeing Linden join Holder’s murder investigation? Is her participation here going to exorcise the demons she’s been carrying around from her past case? Do you think that the man they’ve pinned the killing on actually did it?

Holder has stayed on with Seattle PD despite the absence of his partner and cleaned up his act to become something resembling a “normal” detective, while Linden made good on her promise to quit the force following the resolution of the Rosie Larsen case. Her life has become a different shade of normal than Holder’s, in that she’s developed a low-key but ultimately beneficial routine that allows her to live the life she didn’t get to while working as a detective. Linden’s been able to get her mind right, reconnect with her son, and take better care of herself, but what happens when she’s confronted with something from her past that could drag her back into the eye of a murder investigation?

On the third season premiere of The Killing, Holder gets an assignment relating to a missing street kid and the more evidence he gathers, the more he connects it to a former case of Linden’s. Although they haven’t been as close in the 18 months following the events of season two, he pays her a visit, likely looking to question her about details of the closed case and get a sense of how he should proceed in the coming days. Linden thought she put her career as a detective behind her once the Rosie Larsen case was finished, choosing instead to focus on family and her own mental health. However, there’s a part of her that will always thrive in situations like this; the only question is, once she gets involved in Holder’s case, can she keep herself together and not lose all the progress she’s made toward bettering her life?

The third season of The Killing premieres Sunday, June 2nd at 8:00 on AMC. You can check out a behind the scenes look at the season here, as well as an additional promo here.

Will you be watching The Killing this season? How do you think Linden will react to Holder’s presence after the two lost contact? Is she going to be able to emotionally handle another case after tasting what life is like off the force?
