In total, the network is going to have four series conclude their runs this season before May sweeps begins, as already renewed Mom ends April 14th and The Crazy Ones gets a one-hour finale April 17th. Also of note, Survivor will be concluding on a Wednesday rather than a Sunday for the first time in a decade. while CBS Tuesdays will be the rare night where every show ends the same date (May 13th) and The Amazing Race gets a one-hour finale rather than a typical two-hour edition.

Finale dates for the likes of Friends with Better Lives and Bad Teacher have yet to be released, likely due to the fact that they’ll be running into the summer. You can get a look at the full list of CBS 2013-2014 finale dates below.

Do you think CBS should have allowed How I Met Your Mother to air into May? Will any of the currently unrenewed shows (The Crazy Ones, The Mentalist, Intelligence) be renewed for next season? Should more networks allow full nights of programming to end on the same date?

On the drama side, NCIS, NCIS: Los Angeles, Person of Interest, CSI, Hawaii: Five-0, Blue Bloods, Criminal Minds, Elementary, and The Good Wife will be returning next season, with The Mentalist, Intelligence, and Hostages left of the renewal flurry.

On the comedy side, 2 Broke Girls, The Millers, Mike & Molly, Mom, and Two and a Half Men will join The Big Bang Theory on the network’s slate for next season. Not receiving a renewal at this time was The Crazy Ones, which has noticeably softened in the ratings in recent weeks. CBS will be premiering two additional comedies (Friends with Better Lives and Bad Teacher) before the end of the season.

In the world of alternative programming, The Amazing Race and Undercover Boss got picked up for next season, joining already renewed Survivor, while 60 Minutes and 48 Hours will also be returning.

Last season, CBS cancelled every series that didn’t receive a renewal in March aside from those that were embroiled in contract negotiations (Criminal Minds and Two and a Half Men), so it’s not a good sign for those that didn’t receive a renewal this go-around. They’re not necessarily dead, but shows like The Crazy Ones and The Mentalist are going to have to overperform for the rest of the season if they have any hope of earning a shot on the schedule.

CBS will be unveiling its schedule for next season, which will include Thursday Night Football, on Wednesday, May 14th.

Do you think CBS made wise decisions regarding what to renew this early? Should they give something like The Crazy Ones or The Mentalist another season? How do you expect the CBS fall 2014 schedule to look?

Debuting in season three, de Pablo’s tough as nails character of Ziva David has been a fan favorite almost since her introduction, with some viewers even openly wondering if her leaving will end up being ‘NCIS’ “jump-the-shark” moment. Still, fans shouldn’t forget that this wasn’t a case of executive meddling. In fact, CBS and the show’s producers wish she would stay. It’s not their fault that Cote wanted out. In that spirit, ‘NCIS’ brass has decided to try to fill Ziva’s void in the cast as quickly as possible.

As first reported by TV Line, ‘Sopranos’ alum Emily Wickersham (she played A.J.’s girlfriend in the mob drama’s final season) has signed on to play a fresh-faced, well-educated, and somewhat socially awkward new agent named Bishop. Bishop will join the team about a month after Ziva’s exit, and will appear in at least three episodes of the long-running procedural’s eleventh season. If Wickersham is well received by fans and gels well with the cast, CBS then has the option to bump her up to series regular status. Four to five episodes will air in the weeks between Ziva’s final bow and Bishop’s debut, with each installment featuring a different guest actor assisting the team.

Emily Wickersham can currently be seen in the recurring role of Kate Millwright on FX’s ‘The Bridge.’ ‘NCIS’ eleventh season premieres next Tuesday, September 24th. Bishop will make her debut during November sweeps.

-HBO Films will produce a documentary about the recent victories for gay marriage activists, including the overturn of Prop 8 in California. The currently untitled film will be directed by Ben Cotner and Ryan White and debut sometime in 2014.

-NBC has ordered eight episodes of Wall of Fame, an hour-long comedic game show where one family can win big money if they can not only answer pop culture trivia questions correctly, but can also guess whether members of our celebrity “Wall of Fame” delivered the correct answers to those same questions.

First out of the gate is the 27th edition of Survivor, set to bow Wednesday, September 18th with a 90-minute premiere. The following week is when the CBS debuts kick into high gear, with September 23rd – September 29th seeing every series the network will be airing in the fall making its season/series premiere. Interestingly, the “premiere week” strategy hasn’t been as utilized the past couple of seasons, due to falling broadcast ratings and the need to give their programming as much room to breathe as possible; the networks tended to shoot themselves in the foot by trying to premiere so much in such a short window, cutting off the number of people who could feasibly sample series and allow them time to grow, so seeing CBS revert back to that is moderately surprising. Either they’re counting on the other networks spacing out their fall premieres, thus making them the only game in down during their premiere week, or they’re confident enough in their schedule to where they feel it’ll cut through the premiere week clutter.

Currently unscheduled are new comedies Bad Teacher and Friends with Better Lives, new drama Reckless, and Mike & Molly, which was pushed to midseason for the first time but will have 22 episodes this season.

(So if you don’t want to spoil yourself on the events to come, it might not be wise to continue reading.) From potentially compromised election results to missing terrorists loose on the island to flashbacks into the downfall of a detective, the finales promise drama, resolution, and insight into characters we spend 22 episodes with every season. Given two-hour finales were Criminal Minds and Elementary, in addition to the bi-annual two-hour season finales of Survivor and The Amazing Race, each of whom will name their respective winner during their tense final minutes.

Which finale do you think sounds the best? Of the guest stars listed, who are you most looking forward to seeing? Did CBS make the right decision in who they gave two-hour finales to?
