Presented during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, Private Violence spotlights the aftermath of Deanna’s attack, the circumstances that trap domestic violence victims in abusive relationships, and the legal roadblocks that keep victims from pressing charges against their abusers. In Deanna’s case, the attack occurred across state lines and where she didn’t have broken bones or internal injuries, the most her husband could be charged with was misdemeanor assault against a female, punishable by 150 days in jail. The documentary shows Gruelle trying to find a way to get Deanna the legal justice that she deserves, as well as working with other women in similar situations, including a woman in jail for killing the man who blinded her in one eye,

In addition to its initial run, Private Violence will air October 20th (4:40 a.m.), October 23rd (11:00 a.m., 5:45 p.m.), October 26th (2:00 p.m.), October 29th (12:30 p.m., 12:40 a.m.), and November 1st (12:45 p.m.) on HBO, as well as October 28th (6:00 p.m.), October 30th (10:00 p.m.), November 10th (12:45 a.m.), and November 22nd (11:10 a.m.) on HBO 2.

Based on the British series of the same name and adapted for American television by Mark V. Olsen and Will Scheffer (Big Love), Getting On follows the doctors and nurses at a Long Beach extended care facility. Not only must they acclimate themselves to an environment that is a constant reminder of their own mortality, but they must try to make the most with what little resources they have, as the unit is understaffed and filled with archaic medical equipment that serves no purpose other than taking up space. The series stars three-time Emmy winner Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne), Alex Borstein (Family Guy), Niecy Nash (The Soul Man), and Mel Rodriguez (Enlisted).

The second season of Getting On is slated to premiere Sunday, November 9th at 10:30 on HBO, where it will follow the final season premiere of The Newsroom and the return of The Comeback.

Deadline is reporting that Taylor Kitsch (Friday Night Lights) is expected to play one of the other two cop roles, while the hunt continues for someone to play female detective Ani Bezzerides. Rosario Dawson (Sin City), Kelly Reilly (Black Box), Jessica Biel (7th Heaven), Malin Akerman (Trophy Wife), Abigail Spencer (Rectify), Oona Chaplin (Game of Thrones), Jaimie Alexander (Thor: The Dark World), and Brit Marling (Another Earth) were said to be invited to read for series creator Nic Pizzolatto, with Rachel McAdams (The Notebook) and Keira Knightley (Pride & Prejudice) also in the conversation for a place on the series.

The first season of True Detective received mountains of critical acclaim for its direction by Cary Joji Fukunaga and the performances from Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson. Neither McConaughey nor Harrelson will be back for the second season of True Detective, while Emmy winner Fukunaga will be replaced by Justin Lin, as the Fast & Furious director will direct the first two episodes of season two.

The second season of True Detective will begin production later this fall for a summer 2015 premiere. Additional casting should be announced/confirmed in the coming weeks, as should more concrete information about the seasonal plot.

Season two of the series, which comes nearly a decade after it was first cancelled, finds Valerie working on an HBO dramedy written by Paulie G. Even though Valerie will be playing the worst version of herself on the show, she believes that this is the big break that she’s been looking for – the way to finally get back to the top after spending decades trying to become the woman she once was just one more time.

In addition to Kudrow, The Comeback stars the likes of Laura Silverman (The Sarah Silverman Program), Lance Barber (It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia), Robert Bagnell (Fetching), Damian Young (Californication), and Robert Michael Morris (Running Wilde), with Malin Akerman (Trophy Wife) and Kellan Lutz (Generation Kill) set to reprise their roles as Juna and Chris, respectively.

The 50 Year Argument is said to weave together archival material, original verite footage, contributor interviews, and portraits by photographer Brigitte Lancombe in order to illustrate the depth and scope of the paper. The documentary will feature interviews with the likes of Noah Chomsky, Jennifer Homans, and Yasmine El Rashidi, with the history of the establishment of the paper, how its writers approached the larger issues they covered, and the debate that its most memorable articles inspired being highlighted throughout.

Created by Emmy winners Lisa Kudrow (Friends) and Michael Patrick King (Sex and the City), The Comeback follows former TV it girl Valerie Cherish as she tries to gain the type of momentum in the entertainment industry that she hasn’t had in a long time. The first season of the show, which aired in 2005, was lavished with critical acclaim and awards attention for Kudrow’s fearless performance and the show’s satirical take on the inner workings of the entertainment industry.

Taking place a decade later, season two of The Comeback finds Valerie, who realizes just how right she had it all those years ago, having gotten a new career opportunity that could provide her with a new beginning. However, just as she thinks she’s gotten this whole entertainment thing all figured it, it becomes apparent that she still has quite a bit to learn.

Confirmed to be returning to The Comeback are Lance Barber, Dan Bucatinsky, Robert Michael Morris, Laura Silverman, and Damian Young, with Malin Akerman and Kellan Lutz set to appear as successful versions of Juna and Chris, respectively.

Gay rights groups don”t have the power to protest the lack of legal ramifications suffered by the attacks due to a number of ordinances preventing the mention of homosexuality in picket signs, while even straight allies have found themselves targeted by those who wish to do away with homosexuality in Russia entirely. Hunted features footage of homophobic Russians who casino have made it their mission to torment the country”s gay population, and those they suspect of being gay, with the reasoning behind the attacks being the supposed link between homosexuality and pedophilia.

“After such a triumphant collaboration with The Normal Heart, everyone felt that Open was not the right next step for all involved. However, we fully expect to work together again in the near future,” said HBO Programming president Michael Lombardo.

Described as a provocative exploration of human sexuality and relationships, Open centered on the romantic and personal lives of five thirtysomethings as they dealt with issues of intimacy, infidelity, and identity. The cast for the series included Michelle Monaghan (True Detective), Wes Bentley (American Horror Story), Scott Speedman (Last Resort), Jennifer Jason Leigh (Revenge), and Anna Torv (Fringe).

Even with all the drama turnover at HBO, including the planned final seasons of Treme, Boardwalk Empire, The Newsroom, and True Blood, the network has only ordered one drama to series in recent months – that being Utopia, an adaptation of the acclaimed British genre drama. Currently, HBO has two dramas with pilots ordered (Martin Scorsese-produced History of Music, which stars Bobby Cannavale and Olivia Wilde, and Westworld, based on the 1973 Michael Crichton movie), though there’s no word on when a decision will be made about either’s status.

At 9:00 will be the six-episode final season of The Newsroom, which ended its second season with the team from ACN staying and Will getting engaged to Mac on Election Night. There’s no word yet on what events from recent news cycles will be included in the third season of The Newsroom or whether the show will lean as heavily on that device, seeing as how they have a shorter episode order.

Following at 10:00 is the eight-episode second season of The Comeback, which takes place about a decade after the events of the show’s first and only previous season. Former TV it girl Valerie Cherish thinks that she’s figured everything out, but in reality, she’s as clueless about fame, celebrity, and the entertainment industry as she ever was. The acclaimed comedy, which gave Lisa Kudrow an Emmy nomination in 2006, will be returning much of its principal cast.

Closing the night at 10:30 is critically praised medical comedy Getting On, which stars Alex Borstein (MADtv), Niecy Nash (The Soul Man), and Laurie Metcalf (Roseanne) as workers in the geriatric wing of a Long Beach Hospital. The show premiered this past November and built an audience mostly by word-of-mouth, as it aired with a one-off Chris Lilley comedy and had one of HBO’s lowest rated dramas as the night’s lead-in. With the high profile return of The Comeback and the final season of a divisive drama acting as its lead-in, the show now has a better chance at being sampled.
