The series, which follows Chicago beat cops and the Intelligence Unit responsible for the city’s major offenses, stars Jason Beghe, Sophia Bush, Patrick John Flueger, LaRoyce Hawkins, Archie Kao, amd Jon Seda.

Grimm airs Fridays at 9:00 on NBC, with Chicago Fire airing Tuesdays at 10:00 and Chicago P.D. Wednesdays at 10:00. The network’s finales begin Thursday, April 17th with Community and Parenthood, both on the NBC bubble for next season, with Wednesday, May 21st being the only other night two shows conclude with Law & Order: SVU and Chicago PD. Otherwise, NBC has scattered its season finales through the May Sweeps period, with the likes of Revolution and Hannibal, both with current undecided futures, set to conclude after the network announces its schedule for next season.

Finale information for About a Boy, Growing Up Fisher, Believe, Crisis, and American Dream Builders will be released at a later date.

2014 May Sweeps extend from April 24th through May 21st, while NBC will unveil its 2014-2015 schedule Sunday, May 11th. The networks that have yet to reveal their season finale dates (ABC, FOX, and CBS) should be doing so in the coming weeks, likely around the same time summer schedules come out.

Which NBC finale are you most looking forward to? Are you surprised that nothing is getting a two-hour send-off? What do you think the network’s schedule will look like next season?

The show, which will be ran by Bridget Carpenter (Friday Night Lights), follows a sheriff struggling to keep his family together while simultaneously policing his hometown and the home of the Ramapo Mountain Indians.

-Renowned statistician Nate Silver has moved from the New York Times to ESPN in a role said to be multi-faceted. Included in his list of duties is serving as editor-in-chief of FiveThirtyEight.com, which will add a team of journalists, editors, analysts, and contributors in the coming months, and television contribution to the likes of Keith Olbermann”s new show Olbermann and ABC News.

-International recording artist Labrinth will be performing “Beneath Your Beautiful,” his single with Emeli Sande, July 24th on America”s Got Talent. The song hit the top spot in the UK and Ireland, went Top 10 in twenty countries, and has almost 52 million VEVO views.

-Yet another cable net is throwing its hat into the increasingly difficult scripted arena, as WE tv ordered The Divide to series today. From Oscar nominee Richard LaGravanese (Behind the Candleabra, The Fisher King) and co-created by Tony Goldwyn (Scandal), the one-hour drama follows a woman with The Innocence Initiative who works on having an inmate released that she believes was wrongly convicted of murder. Along the way, she tangles with a morally gray district attorney and how her past has colored her present viewpoint. Once in contention for a pickup from AMC, the series will star Marin Ireland (Homeland), Damon Gupton (Prime Suspect), Clarke Peters (Treme), and Paul Schneider (Parks and Recreation).

-In addition to the pickup of The Divide, WE announced three scripted series in development: All American Woman, which follows three generations of women whose lives unfold against the backdrop of a magazine; Dirty, where a financier is forced to live and work with her maid; and Headhunters, examining women”s attempts to confront the ambiguity and conflicting choices that surround their lives today.

“On the verge of our 2013 fall scheduling decisions, we’re pleased to renew five drama series that will be important to our new season line-up,” Jennifer Salke, president of NBC Entertainment, said. “We’re proud and very appreciative of all of the actors, producers, writers and directors who work so hard to deliver such high-quality work week in and week out. These complex shows represent a broad range of genres and tones, and all of them stand out for us in a television landscape now filled with one-hour series. We’re especially pleased to be renewing Revolution and Chicago Fire — two first-season successes — and there will be more returning series announcements made in the next couple of weeks.”

None of the renewals are surprises, as NBC has been much stronger this season with their dramas than their comedies, even scoring the two aforementioned freshman successes in Revolution and Chicago Fire. While Grimm continues to put up solid numbers on Fridays, solid enough to get a Tuesday tryout following the demise of Ready for Love, Parenthood has only continued to rise in its Tuesdays at 10:00 slot, the next season (its fifth) being an upgrade from the 18 episodes it had two seasons ago and 15 this season. Meanwhile, Law & Order: SVU has proved to be a solid performer for the network, launching Chicago Fire and giving NBC a strong utility player capable of handling a tough Wednesday time slot.

The only non-canceled/ending dramas that NBC didn’t extend a renewal to are mystery Deception, which is unlikely to return, and Bryan Fuller’s Hannibal, coming off another steep drop in the ratings last night.

NBC will be the first network to reveal its 2013-2014 schedule, having its upfront presentation the morning of Monday, May 13th.

Are you glad that Parenthood will have a full season for once? Do you think that Grimm should be used during the week rather than saved for Fridays? Is Chicago Fire strong enough to move away from SVU and be put to use elsewhere?

When we last saw Shay and Dawson they were being T-boned in the middle of a Chicago intersection in their rig. Thankfully, Shay is alright barring a head injury, and somehow it seems Severide is taking the brunt of it. He seems more worried about himself than Shay, and it annoys me that even after almost losing his best friend, he can”t see how close he is to the edge of losing absolutely everything in his life.

The saying goes that you have to reach rock bottom before you have the power to drag yourself back to the top, and it seemed Kelly would need to scrape the very far reaches of the blackest part of his soul before he could walk the road to recovery. It ain”t gonna be pretty, but he reached to Dawson for help. It seemed a bit too easy, and I wouldn”t be surprised if he slipped again before really making the commitment. I really don”t want he and Shay to lose their incredible friendship, so I”m really pulling for him.

Casey”s talk with his sister didn”t give me any indication for the bombshell he dropped while visiting his mom – that she killed his father. How can he be such an incredible person after the absolute crap he must have suffered in his life? I must know more. There are so many layers to the characters on Chicago Fire and we”ve barely begun to scratch the surface of any of them.

How clever was it to pair Mills phpaide.com with Dawson while Shay is unable to work? It will add an entire new dynamic to Dawson”s feelings for Casey, because she genuinely doubts he has any for her. She”s wrong, of course, but the attraction between she and Mills is real, as well. I loved when he mentioned how nice it smelled, like vanilla candles or something, and she said it was her body lotion. Whew! Thank goodness they”re familiar with fire, because they almost started one right there. With the last scene of the episode, they have created a genuine love triangle, and one that I am genuinely interested in watching.

If you”ve been following the news lately, you have probably noticed the overwhelming number of police killing dogs just for living in their own homes. They bark and protect as they are supposed to, and instead of attempting to subdue the animal and get on with their job, they end up in the national news because they have shot a loving family pet. Mills using a sedative to fill a tasty snack and knock the dog out when he and Dawson responded to a call was brilliant. It seems very simple, doesn”t it?

Why does every business venture Herrmann enters into have to contain some horrible catch? How on earth would such a great guy and family man unwittingly end up practically a partner in a call girl business? His wife was so incredible with it. She didn”t even have to ask why the guy wasn”t someone he didn”t want to work with, because she loves him enough to know with as hard as he has worked to find a way to get them back on their feet, it had to have merit.

The only story I”m having a hard time getting on board with it the Cruz debacle. He knew what he was doing was wrong from the very beginning. He was pissed at his brother for being involved with the gang in the first place and he fell in to the same damned trap he was in and came out worse in the end. How am I supposed to support a character with that motivation? Personally, I just can”t.

So great to have the show back. What did you think? Highest season ratings so far, so things are going well!

That’s right! Chicago Fire. I’ve previously likened it to Parenthood with a super extended family of families, and that was generally the theme of the episode. The closeness they feel for one another because of the work they do gives them two families. One at the firehouse and one at home.

It was pretty apparent just how often they spend holidays together when we learned about their Thanksgiving rituals; the chief carves the turkey, but only after they name it. The clincher was naming it after someone they want to carve up. That was a pretty good idea, and if I wasn’t so thankful for the turkey for giving its life for my dinner, I’d think about giving mine a name, too. Peter’s sister Elise was helping with the turkey and they had one hell of an impressive dinner. Of course, every time they got ready to eat, there was another call. Did you notice by the end of the episode the turkey was different? They had cooked it so many times it should have been near burnt, but it was less cooked than the second time they took it out of the oven. Oops!

We learned a bit about Boden through a potential teenage arsonist he took under his wing. He had a son, who doesn’t live with him and who he apparently can’t talk to any time he wants. Maybe a bad marriage and he lost his parental rights? We never did learn if the kid, Ernie, was a firebug, but I’m guessing it’s not the last we’ll see of him. Watching Hermann use his fatherly skills to try to draw information out of him was endearing, and made his scene of heading home to his own family holding Thanksgiving dinner down right tear inducing.

Thanks to a meth fire, the entire team needed to take a drug test and Kelly came ever closer to losing his battle to keep his addiction silent. Shay was feeling generous, because although she’s made it clear she was done helping him, she couldn’t let him tank right in front of her. But when he said he had no idea what his plan was if he would have had to give his sample, she’d had enough. Now that Clarice is back in her life, it will be interesting to see how close she keeps Kelly, because she’s going to need a someone to listen to her own fears as she reinvests. I don’t think Dawson will be there this time around.

Casey and Hallie seemed to be getting on really well until his jubilation at assisting a woman in an accident give birth melted over into his marriage and Hallie finally admitted she’s only ever said she wanted kids because he did. There’s no way he can continue a life with a woman whose life goals are so different than his own. He ended the episode doing shots with Dawson. It’s not like we didn’t see that coming mile away.

There isn’t another show that started this season where I feel as invested in the characters and their happiness as I do with Chicago Fire. That I do is a testament to the hard work the writers have done in proving what can be done with a show with low expectations. Sometimes the best surprises come in the smallest packages.

I didn’t. My bad! Silly me thought her job was to rescue people. My inclination, given her position, would be to save someone if they were 30 seconds from death and there was no other help in sight. It appears I, too, would be losing pay and written up repetitively.

Considering the number of time it’s necessary for either Dawson or Shay to do a trach to save someone’s life while in the field, wouldn’t it behoove the Chicago Fire Department to teach them how to do it rather than consistently write them up for doing it? Especially when, to date, they haven’t killed anyone, but have saved people by using the procedure? As a civilian, if I were in the street and someone wasn’t breathing and they were nearing death, I’d go all MAcGyver, beg for a pocket knife and a Bic pen (do people still carry them??) and perform one myself if I thought it would keep someone from dying right in front of me.

I’ve really enjoyed how the CFD has been portrayed in Chicago Fire so far, so I’m hoping they go the message loud and clear that what they are doing out there isn’t just lifting people onto a bed and rushing them to a hospital, but saving them in the process. The next story I expect to see if a class where every one of them learns how to perform that procedure should the need arise. Heed me NBC!

Hallelujah! Casey saved the life of one of Voight’s future minions and his mom. Sure, Voight could keep him out of jail some day, but the kid can do that himself by steering clear of crime. Can he rescue himself and his mother from a burning building without dying? Not so sure about that. Who’s the hero now Voight? Sadly, now he and his son can share adjoining cells. Although, realistically, the judge may just go easy on his son for having such a crap father. If his son plays his cards right, cries and says he wanted to turn himself in for what he did, but his bully of a father wouldn’t allow him, Voight could take the entire wrap himself. It’s such a shame to think of the lengths people will go to to get themselves out of trouble when they could have avoided it in the first place.

We received a bit of a break from this week from Kelly’s addiction. Thank you! Seeing him go off the rails can only be experienced for so long before you want to reach in and take him into your arms and smack the hell out of him. When you see what everyone was willing to do for Dawson to make sure she didn’t lose too much pay, imagine what they would do for him if he got his much-needed surgery.

A few other thoughts:

**I don’t think Hallie and Casey are long for this world. They have so little in common.
**Did anyone else notice a hint of something in Shay’s eyes as she asked on behalf of Cruz if Peter’s sister was in the restaurant? New love interest?
**Mouch really came through for Dawson. He had me worried for a while, but it was a proud moment when the family showed up as support.
**Chief Boden has to be the best Chief ever to grace a firehouse on television. Eamonn Walker just nails it.
