Currently, the two are staying at an anonymous motel and planning their next move, now that they’ve made contact with Nate and know of the existence of the Kellian manuscript that could go a long way to explaining the messages embedded in the show. But things will be much more difficult now that they’re on Stuart’s radar and closing the investigation might prove to be deadly. Will Jeff and Skye be able to find the answers they’re so desperate for during the series finale of Cult? Or is there something lurking in the shadows, just waiting to cripple the progress they’ve already made?

Listed below are the dates, times, titles, and descriptions of the final two episodes of Cult.

Friday, July 12th – “1987” (8:00)
Stuart (guest star Jeffrey Pierce) tasks Nate (guest star James Pizzinato) with deciphering the copy of Kellian’s manuscript but Cameron (guest star Eric Lange) remains skeptical that Nate can uncover the answers about the Moon Hill parents. Nate asks Allegra (guest star Sheila Vand) to get a message to Jeff if she makes it out alive. Nate reveals to Stuart that 32 followers disappeared from Moon Hill, and gives Stuart a phone number that he found repeated in the manuscript’s code. Jeff and Skye remain in hiding from the True Believers, now that Stuart knows that they know his true identity. Meanwhile, on the inside show, Billy (Robert Knepper) has tracked Henry (guest star Frank Cassini), the killer of Kelly (Alona Tal) and Meadow’s (guest star Shauna Johannesen) parents, and holds him captive. Kelly begins to unravel emotionally as she wrestles with unresolved feeling about her parents’ murders.

Friday, July 12th – “Executive Producer Steven Rae” (9:00 – Series Finale)
Jeff (Matt Davis) promises to help Skye (Jessica Lucas) keep looking for answers about her missing father. Nate convinces Jeff that they need to see this mystery through to its conclusion. The Cult production team prepares to film a live scene that will air online after the show’s season finale, but only the actors know how it will end. Meanwhile, on the inside show, Kelly follows a lead on the whereabouts of her parent’s killer, Henry and tracks him to hidden catacombs. There, Billy ambushes Kelly, and taunts her to kill Henry.

Cult airs Fridays at 8:00 on The CW.

Have you been watching Cult since it came back this summer? How would you like the show to end? Had the show hit and been renewed for a second season, where could the show have gone?

The ratings-challenged drama had already survived a move from Tuesdays to Fridays, but it won’t be able to air all 13 episodes – at least not yet. There are no immediate plans to air the remaining six installments of the show, which will be replaced by repeats of The Carrie Diaries and Oh Sit! in the coming weeks.

With only a few weeks remaining in the season, it looks like The CW would bite the bullet and air the rest of Cult unimpeded. They didn’t have any fresh material to put in its place and with the summer season about to kick off, they didn’t have the time to launch anything new. However, Cult‘s numbers proved to be too much to ignore, as its last original episode was watched by 620,000 people and noticeably fell from its Nikita lead-in. But what was the downfall of Cult? Was it unclear marketing? A complicated pilot? An incompatible Tuesday lead-in that didn’t allow for sampling? Or the intense Friday competition that led to it facing off with fellow genre show Grimm?

Cult starred Matt Davis as investigative report Jeff Sefton, who begins looking into the popular CW show Cult after his fanatical brother disappears. Once he joins forces with Skye Yarrow (Jessica Lucas), a production assistant on the show, he gradually uncovers a complicated, seedy, dangerous world the show has inspired its followers to create. The show featured Alona Tal as Marti Gerritsen, an actress playing Kelly Collins on Cult, and Robert Knepper as Roger Reeves, an actor playing Billy Grimm on Cult, as well as Aisha Hinds as corrupt Detective Sakelik, whose involvement in the mystery of Nate’s disappearance went even further than Jeff had imagined.

Do you think that The CW made the right decision in pulling Cult? What do you think would have happened in the remaining episodes? Ultimately, what was Stuart planning with the kidnapping of Cult fans?

However, they couldn’t continue in their investigation unimpeded, as word of their progress has surely spread throughout the Cult fandom; those who have taken to the show like Nate did now know that there are people hoping to get a look into their world and frankly, this isn’t the type of fanbase that wants attention. They want to continue what they’re doing without having to deal with law enforcement, which means that sooner or later, Jeff and Skye are going to face some serious resistance. Will they be able to handle an increasingly unhinged Sakelik and the darkness lurking in the Cult underworld?

Listed below are the dates, titles, and descriptions for the next two episodes of Cult.

Friday, April 12th – “The Devil You Know”
Jeff (Matt Davis) and Skye (Jessica Lucas) struggle to find evidence against Sakelik (guest star Aisha Hinds, “Weeds”) to use as leverage to gain information on Nate. Stuart invites Roger (Robert Knepper) to a weekend getaway at his Santa Barbara estate. Skye has lunch with her mother (guest star Erica Gimpel) and the two discuss the past. Meanwhile, on the television show, Kelly (Alona Tal) strikes a deal with Billy (Robert Knepper) to get her sister Meadow back.

Friday, April 19th – “Off to See the Wizard”
Jeff and Skye learn about a new initiates meeting of the True Believers. Skye plans to infiltrate the meeting with Jeff following close behind. While Skye and her fellow newbie’s are being driven to the meeting location, Jeff unknowingly follows a decoy vehicle. Meanwhile, on the television show, Kelly suspects that Billy’s followers kidnapped Andy (guest star Christian Michael Cooper).

Friday, April 26th – “The Prophecy of St. Clare”
On the set of the television show “Cult,” Skye consoles Edie MacDonald (guest star Shauna Johannesen), the actress who plays Meadow, after she confesses to being spooked by a pair of figurines she recognizes from her childhood. Jeff and Skye pay a visit to Edie’s mother (guest star Teryl Rothery, “Kyle XY”). Peter (guest star Ben Hollingsworth) continues to spy on Skye. Meanwhile, on the television show, Billy nears his breaking point.

Cult airs Fridays at 9:00 on The CW.

Do you think that Sakelik could be responsible for the decoy vehicle? How close will Jeff and Skye get to Cult before their investigation puts them in danger? Will Skye learn anything from her talk with her mother?

They’ve busted up a dangerous ring of collegiate Cult LARPers and cracked the meaning of “true believers” from earlier in the season, all the while closing in on the reason that Cult fans have gotten so enmeshed in their show’s mythology. But how close can Jeff and Skye get to the show without putting themselves in harm’s way? When will they hit the wall between what they’re feasibly able to do without being caught and what they’re going to have to be creative to find out?

Listed below are the date, title, and description of the next three episodes of Cult.

Friday, March 22nd – “The Kiss”
Jeff (Matt Davis) receives news that one of Nate’s friends might be planning something at an upcoming “Cult” fan costume party, so Jeff and Skye (Jessica Lucas) attend the party dressed as Billy and Kelly. At the party, Skye’s drink is spiked with a hallucinogenic drug similar to a drug used on the television show “Cult.” Sakelik (guest star Aisha Hinds “Weeds,” “Hawthorne”) warns Jeff that he might be in over his head. Also, at the party, Roger (Robert Knepper) meets mysterious stranger named Stuart (guest star Jeffrey Pierce). Meanwhile, on the television show, Kelly (Alona Tal) marries Billy (Robert Knepper) in a flashback scene.

Friday, March 29th – “The Good Fight”
Skye collapses the morning after the “Cult” fan party, suffering a serious reaction to the drug she was slipped. The doctors urge Jeff to locate a sample of the drug so they can find a way to reverse its effects in order to save Skye’s life. Detective Sakelik arrives at the hospital but refuses to help. Jeff suspects that the drug might be hidden at her place so he takes matters into his own hands. Meanwhile, inside Skye’s hallucinogenic state, Billy, Kelly, and Skye’s father Quentin (guest star Obba Babatunde) encourage Skye to give up and stop searching for the truth.

Friday, April 5th – “Suffer the Children”
E.J. (guest star Stacy Farber, “Degrassi: The Next Generation”) slips Jeff a copy of Sakelik’s police personnel file which reveals that Sakelik was taken into custody by Child Protective Services 25 years ago after being found with other abandoned children at a house in Arrowhead. Jeff and Skye locate the house and question the owner, Annabelle (guest star Brigid Brannagh, “Army Wives”). Sakelik tracks Jeff and Skye to the house and they barely escape with their lives. Stuart (guest star Jeffrey Pierce, “Alcatraz”) continues to befriend Roger. Meanwhile, on the television show, Kelly finds a lock of Meadow’s hair in the trunk of Billy’s car (Valiant).

Cult airs Fridays at 9:00 on The CW.

What will Jeff and Skye find out about Sakelik’s past? Will Skye learn anything about the truth behind Cult in her hallucinogenic state? Is Stuart a danger to Roger?

They’ve seen LARPing gone wrong and heard stories about the things that the show has inspired its viewers to do, in addition to opening several fan sites that are a bit too in depth to be normal, but they don’t know how the show has spread throughout the rest of the country. Granted, their focus has thus far been on finding Nate rather than bringing down the show or exposing the increasingly dangerous fandom, but what will they think when they see that the Cult following has taken the show’s gore and action into real life?

On tonight’s episode of Cult, Jeff has a surprise visitor in Nate’s college girlfriend; she informs him of “Being Billy”, an on-campus game that has become big among Cult fans. In the game, groups of collegiates re-enact scenes from the show; however, this isn’t a monitored, safe roleplaying exercise meant to bond together people with a common interest. It’s turned deadly, with the show’s kill scenes producing at least one dead body, and Jeff and Skye have to figure out the next scene that they’ll be recreating in order to stop them and prevent further loss of life. This could be an eye-opening moment for the two, as they face the fact that, ironically, Cult isn’t negatively influencing a tiny group of people or simply those with pre-existing mental instability. It’s causing normal, healthy adults to give in to their baser instincts and perform acts of violence on one another in the name of entertainment. Is there a way for them to bring down the show before its fan base is past the point of no return?

Elsewhere on Cult, E.J. finds out that Nate’s been active online and send an e-mail to a hidden contact list, while Kelly confronts Billy and Roger continues to be chased by Kirstie.

Cult airs tonight at 9:00 on The CW.

Do you think that Nate was the one to actually send the e-mail? How creepy do you find the concept of the Being Billy game? What exactly is Kirstie looking for from Roger?

Repeats of other CW dramas will fill the Tuesday slot that Cult leaves behind, beginning with Beauty and the Beast on March 5th, the final new episode of Hart of Dixie before a month-long hiatus.

Although uprooting a new show this early could be cause for concern, the move makes a lot of sense. Cult hasn’t gotten enough sampling for the move to be truly damaging and it meshes better with the similarly dark Nikita than it does with Hart of Dixie, the closest thing The CW has to a comedy. Genre fare has managed to carve out a decent niche on Friday nights, particularly on The CW with Smallville and Supernatural thriving on the night, and Cult could take advantage of that to potentially thrive or even grow. With Nikita getting a little stronger after moving to 8:00, it’s not a stretch to think that Cult could do okay business at 9:00 and even if it doesn’t, all 13 episodes will be airing.

A potential upside to the move is that the network will be able to see how different shows perform with Hart of Dixie and away from their original nights. The CW needs as many data points as they can to parse out renewals for their bubble shows and if something like, for example, Beauty and the Beast can show that it can make it on a night without The Vampire Diaries, it could greatly help its case for renewal. The Tuesday at 9:00 slot has been a tough go for the network for years and now is a good time for them to see which of their shows have a loyal live audience and if any of their current crop could survive there. If not, look for one of the more hyped pilots to be slotted there and doused with promotion come fall.

Will you be following Cult to Friday nights? Do you think that it’ll do better following Nikita and, potentially, have a chance at getting a renewal? Should the network have premiered it there to begin with?

There’s something not quite right about Nate’s favorite show and after making a contact on “Cult”‘s production staff, he’ll stop at nothing to piece together what exactly happened to his brother. Just where will Jeff’s journey take him? Can he go about his investigation unnoticed by the rest of the “Cult” staff, all of whom would rather the action behind the curtain stay that way?

Listed below are the dates, titles, and descriptions for the next two episodes of Cult.

Tuesday, February 26th – “In the Blood”
Jeff (Matt Davis) enlists tech-savvy E.J. (guest star Stacy Farber “Degrassi: The Next Generation”) to help in his search for his brother Nate (guest star James Pizzinato “Alcatraz”). Skye (Jessica Lucas) finally reveals to Jeff that she took the researcher job on “Cult” to learn more about Steven Rae. Meanwhile, at the production office, associate producer Peter Grey (guest star Ben Hollingsworth) brushes off Skye’s concerns that some of the “Cult” fans believe there are hidden messages embedded in the show. On the television show, Kelly (Alona Tal) and Paz (guest star Kadeem Hardison, “A Different World”) discover a body buried vertically, and Kelly believes that this might be a message from Billy (Robert Knepper).

Tuesday, March 5th – “Being Billy”
Jeff finds a surprise visitor in Nate’s apartment who tells him about a dangerous on-campus game that Nate had been hosting known as “Being Billy,” which involves role-playing scenes from past “Cult” episodes. Jeff and Skye follow clues that might explain the next scene the players will try to recreate. Meanwhile, E.J. searches Nate’s laptop and finds that he’s been active online and sent a cryptic email to a hidden recipient list. On the television show, Kelly confronts Billy.

Cult airs Tuesdays at 9:00 on The CW.

What did you think about the Cult pilot? Will you watch any more episodes? How close can Skye get to the truth about “Cult” before her life gets threatened?

The latter has become the latest fodder at the pop culture water cooler and inspired group watching parties all across the country; it also has a dark side that its rabid fanbase has yet to be exposed to, a side that Jeff becomes painfully aware of the more he looks behind the curtain. Is Cult more dangerous than even its stars know? Can Jeff find his brother before it’s too late?

Listed below is the date, title, and description for the series premiere of Cult, as well as a link to watch the full episode.

Tuesday, February 19th – “You’re Next” (Watch Here)
Investigative journalist Jeff Sefton (Matt Davis) has learned to live with his younger brother Nate’s (guest star James Pizzinato) relentless string of obsessions, especially his latest rant that a hit TV show called “Cult” intends to harm him. When his brother mysteriously disappears, Jeff enlists Skye Yarrow (Jessica Lucas), a young research assistant working on “Cult,” to help with his investigation into the dark underworld of the TV show and its rabid fans. Meanwhile, in the parallel worlds of the show-within-a-show, the cult’s ruthless leader, Billy Grimm, is played by actor Roger Reeves (the double role of Billy/Roger is played by Robert Knepper), a man whose primary agenda is winning back his former follower and lover, Kelly Collins, played by actress Marti Gerritsen (the double role of Kelly/Marti is played by Alona Tal). Since escaping from the cult, Kelly has become an LAPD detective who finds herself drawn back into an investigation of the group’s activities as she struggles to keep Billy at a safe distance. As the television show grows in popularity, cast members Roger and Marti begin to feel the effects in their “real” lives.

The series premiere of Cult airs Tuesday, February 19th at 9:00 on The CW.

Will you be watching Cult this season? How do you think it will do airing with Hart of Dixie? Do you like networks putting pilots up early?

The CW has revealed the premiere date for the final show it’ll be launching this season. Cult, starring Matt Davis, is set to debut Tuesday, February 19th at 9:00 following Hart of Dixie. The show will be the second mid-season offering from The CW, as The Carrie Diaries makes its debut on Monday, January 14th at 8:00.

Cult follows investigative journalist Jeff Setton as he looks into the disappearance of his brother Nate, an obsessive fan of the hot new CW series Cult. Before vanishing, Nate had told Jeff that the show had intended to harm him, but Jeff chalked that up to his brother becoming a little too wrapped up in the show. However, now Jeff has to check out the show and the people behind it to see if there’s any truth to what Nate said; it’ll be tough to find out any information with the executives, cast, and crew all writing off Jeff like Jeff did to Nate. Except someone behind the scenes has become suspicious of the show and may be able to provide the insider knowledge that could help Jeff bring his brother (and all those like him) home.

It’s an interesting choice for The CW to put Cult on Tuesdays when all signs had been pointing to it landing on Thursdays with The Vampire Diaries. Davis is a former star of the latter, Beauty and the Beast hasn’t lived up to its strong premiere ratings, and Cult would thematically fit on the Thursday night lineup. However, with Emily Owens M.D. being canceled recently, the network had a hole to fill and opted to make the easiest move. As a result, Nikita will be airing with Arrow repeats for the rest of the season, Beauty and the Beast will get an opportunity to grow, and the network will try to recapture a little WB magic by airing a light small town dramedy (Hart of Dixie) with a genre show (Cult), a’la Gilmore Girls and Charmed/Smallville.

In addition to Davis, Cult stars Jessica Lucas as research assistant Skye Yarrow, Alona Tai as LAPD detective Kelly Collins, and Robert Knepper as Cult leader Billy Grimm.

Will you be watching Cult? How do you think it will pair with Hart of Dixie? Would you have scheduled it for that time slot or do you think it’d have a better chance somewhere else?
