“Suits continues to fire on all cylinders, delivering provocative storytelling and complex characters that viewers can’t get enough of,” said Chris McCumber, President of USA Network. “With some of the best writing on television, and a brilliant ensemble cast, we anticipate a spectacular fifth season for a series that has become a marquee property for USA.”

Having stayed in the top 10 of summer scripted series in the 18-49 and 25-54 demographics, as well as total viewers, the renewal for Suits was a fairly easy decision to make for USA. However, the network still has quite a ways to go in terms of renewal decisions, as veterans Graceland, Covert Affairs, and Royal Pains are all currently without a renewal. Also looking for word on their fate are new comedy Playing House, which has already finished its first season, and new dramas Rush and Satisfaction. While there will be a delay on the latter two as the network continues to look at time-shifted viewing, a decision on the veteran dramas should come sooner rather than later.

Suits joins a 2015 lineup that includes comedies Benched, co-created by Michaela Watkins (Trophy Wife) and starring Eliza Coupe (Happy Endings), and Sirens, which was renewed for a second season earlier this summer.

Finally, the network is utilizing an unusual maneuver by pairing new dramas Rush and Satisfaction on Thursdays beginning July 17th. The former tells the story of Dr. William Rush (Tom Ellis), a medical fixer charged with catering to the Los Angeles elite. In addition to Ellis, the series stars Rick Gonzalez. The latter, meanwhile, is said to delve into the unusual choices a married couple (Matt Passmore, Stephanie Szostak) make in the name of preserving their marriage and keeping their connection alive. The series also stars Blair Redford, Katherine LaNasa, and Michelle DeShon.

The eighth season of Psych is set to premiere Wednesday, January 8th at 9:00 with an episode that finds Gus and Shawn traveling to London and coming face-to-face with Despereaux. Other episodes this season include “A Nightmare on State Street” and a remake of season one episode “Cloudy with a Chance of Murder,” while season eight guest stars include Mira Sorvino, Anthony Michael Hall, and Phylicia Rashad. Season five of White Collar returns from hiatus on Thursday, January 9th at 9:00 with four new episodes. While Neal continues to be blackmailed by Curtis Hagen, he, Rebecca, and Mozzie get closer to cracking the Mosconi Codex and a dangerous secret gets revealed.

The third season of legal drama Suits returns Thursday, March 6th at 9:00 with the firm’s future in doubt after the murder trial and Louis threatening to expose Mike. Guest stars will include Zeljko Ivanek, Jamey Sheridan, Damon Gupton, and Patrick Fischler. Sirens premieres Thursday, March 6th at 10:00 with back-to-back episodes. The series follows three Chicago EMTs (sports nut Johnny, outspoken Hank, and new recruit Brian) as they balance their unruly personal lives with successful professional lives. Additionally, they often intersect with Theresa, a Chicago PD officer who’s also Johnny’s ex-girlfriend. Guest stars for the 10-episode first season include Jean Smart, Loretta Devine, Bill Nunn, Lenny Clarke, Nora Dunn, and John Scurti.

-The ninth season of Nicklodeon’s The Fairy Oddparents is slated to begin Saturday, May 4th at 9:30 a.m. In the season nine premiere, “Turner & Pooch,” Mr. Crocker realizes that Timmy’s dog, Sparky, has magical powers. Eager to use the fairy dog’s powers to fulfill his own wishes, Mr. Crocker hypnotizes Sparky in an attempt to turn him against Timmy.

-Upcoming episodes of Oprah’s Lifeclass will feature the talk show giant teaming up with Dr. Phil and Iyanla Vanzant. On April 29th, Phil and Oprah work together for the first time since the series finale of The Oprah Winfrey Show to uncover how to spot and stop the bad guys in your life. Meanwhile, on May 5th, Oprah and life coach Vanzant will speak with single mothers raising fatherless sons and help them to overcome the challenges of being an only parent. Phil returns on May 19th when he and Oprah talk about how to play big and “become the star in your own life” by defining success, spotting obstacles and harnessing the right tools to get what you want in life.

-Max Beesley (Hotel Babylon) has joined USA’s Suits in the recurring role of Stephen Huntley, Edward Darby’s charismatic right-hand man and Harvey’s British counterpart, who arrives in the New York office following the merger. Meanwhile, Sam Page (Mad Men), Sinqua Walls (Teen Wolf), and Kate Miner (Persons Unknown) will all be joining Necessary Roughness this summer. Page will play Sam Conte, a V3 agent who represents one of Dani’s clients, in two episodes, while Walls is set to portray Lana’s basketball star son Devon in an episode and Miner has been tapped for a four-episode stint as irresistible up-and-coming model Sheera, who catches TK’s eye.

Considering the extremely strong competition among cable networks over the last decade, I’d consider that a very considerable achievement. Among the shows that helped them reach that milestone were Suits, which was the number 1 scripted cable program on Thursday nights and Psych, leading the ever-growing social media market as the show with the most mentions on Wednesday nights.

There wasn’t a lot of scripted competition for Suits on Thursdays, but maintaining an average 5.5 million total viewers and about 2 million in their 25-54 demographic is nothing to sneeze about, especially when network television gives them a run for the money with favorites such as Grey’s Anatomy, Scandal, Person of Interest, Glee, Elementary, and The Vampire Diaries. Did you notice that Suits falls into no particular time zone? That’s because as a cable show, depending upon your time zone, it could go up against a different favorite show if you live in New York or Colorado. The same goes for CW shows, in case you were unaware.

Psych  is currently in its seventh, and likely second-to-last, season, yet still gained about 17% more viewers comparable to its 2012 numbers. If the cast wasn’t ready to move on, you’d have to wonder how long USA Network would let Psych rule the airwaves on Wednesdays. Depending upon where you live, Psych could be up against such powerhouses as Arrow, Supernatural, Modern Family, Nashville, CSI, Law & Order: SVU, Criminal Minds and Chicago Fire. TNT’s scripted cable drama Southland doesn’t see nearly the same numbers that Psych gets on Wednesdays.

WWE Monday Night Raw slams the rating on Monday nights and a duo of successful repeats, NCIS and Law and Order: SVU deliver outstanding numbers for the network.
