She’s set to play Stacey, a Pilates instructor who believes that her fling with Will helped inspire him to write his lone hit song, in an unspecified number of episodes.

Stacey’s appearance is possibly the last thing Will needs right now, as she reminds him of the man he once was – the Will that he’s been trying to distance himself from ever since he got serious with Sam and found himself unexpectedly connecting with Marcus. Will wants to get beyond the shallow womanizer he was once and become a newer version of himself, someone he can be proud of, and he might not be able to do that if he has a walking, talking remnant of his lesser days interacting with people who didn’t know him when. Can Will find a way to dispatch Stacey before she does any damage to the life he’s trying to build? Or will her presence get under his skin enough to where he sabotages the things that had been working for him?

In addition to her time on the Showtime drama, Garcia has appeared on the likes of George Lopez, Vegas, and Off the Map. She’s joins Episodes alum Chris Diamantopoulos in appearing on the romantic comedy, which stars Oscar nominee Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), David Walton (Bent), and Benjamin Stockham (Quarantine).

The second season of About a Boy is set to premiere Tuesday, October 14th at 9:30 on NBC.

Will you be watching About a Boy this season? Do you think Stacey actually inspired Will’s song or is she just fishing for a little slice of fame? How will Stacey’s reappearance in Will’s life impact not only his creative process, but his relationships with Sam, Marcus, and Fiona?

He’s set to portray Mr. Chris, Marcus’ charismatic new English teacher who hits it off with Fiona and experiences tension with Will, in at least two episodes of the NBC comedy.

The first season of About a Boy shied away from the idea of playing into the tension between Will and Fiona, though the former tended to be more protective over the latter than a friend or neighbor would. Will might still be in love with Sam, but he could be forced to confront his feelings for the eccentric single mother when Mr. Chris comes into the picture in a similar situation to what he went through during TJ’s flirtation with Fiona. He believes that he and Fiona are too opposite to work and that he wants to be with someone more in line with whom he thinks he’s supposed to be with, yet there has to be a part of him that looks at Fiona as being a possible match. If there wasn’t, he wouldn’t get jealous over her dating other men and, in his mind, squandering the insta-family he gained when she and Marcus moved into the neighborhood.

In addition to his role on the Showtime comedy, Diamantopoulos has appeared on the likes of 24, The Office, and Hannibal. Guest stars during the first season of About a Boy included Dax Shepard (Parenthood), Will Sasso (Justified), and Leslie Bibb (GCB).

The second season of About a Boy is slated to premiere Tuesday, October 14th at 9:30 on NBC. You can check out TVHackr’s reasoning for why you should catch up on About a Boy here.

Will you be watching About a Boy this season? Is Mr. Chris’ presence going to cause Will to reevaluate his feelings for Fiona? Should the show pursue a Will/Fiona romance or do you like them better as begrudging friends?

Now there are broadcast networks, innumerable cable networks, streaming services, and various other companies looking to make their mark in a crowded marketplace, so it’s understandable when something slips under the radar or when audience abandons a show that creatively stumbles.

Which is where TVHackr comes in – we’ve combed through the veteran shows returning in the fall and picked four that are worth the time to catch up on. Surveying the television industry is quite intimidating, so rather than forcing you, dear reader, to scour the internet for information about what’s worth your time or when something returns, we’ve gathered everything you need to know about each of the four shows we’re recommending. In addition to general information like premiere date, premise, and cast, we’ve provided reasons why you should catch up, which episodes you should watch if you’re crunched for time and can’t marathon, and the different avenues where you can catch up on any of these shows.

About a Boy (NBC)
Premiere date: Tuesday, October 14th
Premise: A man-child bachelor living off his past success finds his world turned upside down when a single mother moves next door with her pre-teen son.
Who’s in it: David Walton (Perfect Couples), Minnie Driver (Good Will Hunting), Benjamin Stockham (1600 Penn), and Al Madrigal (The Daily Show with Jon Stewart)
Why you should catch up: About a Boy is a show that effectively uses formula as a way of deepening character relationships. For the first half of the season, it’s a cute, fluffy little comedy that hits the beats that you think it’s going to, yet before you know it, you’re deeply invested in the main character’s personal progress and the lovably awkward friendship he has with the affable, big-hearted boy next door. It’s a comedy of self-acceptance and learning to let go, of finding healing through your relationships with others and forgiving yourself for a past that you might not always welcome, with the 13-episode first season is one that grew stronger and more assured as it went on. With Walton and Stockham sharing an extremely pleasant dynamic, Walton and Driver bypassing any hint of will they/won’t they in favor of an unlikely friendship, and the show itself unafraid to tackle emotionally complex ideas for a broadcast comedy, it’s a show primed to make the leap in season two.
Recommended episodes: “Pilot”; “About a Poker Night”; “About a Boy’s Dad”; “About a Hammer”; “About a Rib Chute”
How you can catch up: iTunes has the entire first season at $2.99 per episode. NBC.com has the last five episodes of the season available for a limited time. Hulu has the last five episodes of the season available. Amazon Instant has the entire first season available at $1.99 per episode, with the entire season at $19.99. The last five episodes of the season are available on demand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QK7JPt2UbSc

Reign (The CW)
Premiere date: Thursday, October 2nd
Premise: A Scottish royal moves to France to fulfill an agreement between the two countries and wed the man she was promised to as a child.
Who’s in it: Adelaide Kane (Teen Wolf), Megan Follows (Anne of Green Gables), Toby Regbo (Mr. Nobody), and Torrance Coombs (Heartland)
Why you should catch up: Reign is the messy, fearless costume drama that had been missing from broadcast television. Delightfully loopy and never meeting a plot twist it couldn’t turn on its head, the series probes issues of power, familial loyalty, and individual wants vs. the needs of many, all through the eyes and experiences of a teenage girl thrust into a position she never really wanted in the first place. Anchored by a searingly compelling performance by Follows as the misunderstood queen, Reign grew much darker with each passing episode while still able to find the light in the most seemingly dour of situations, its confidence growing the more it intertwined the CW-ness of it all with the trappings of its sister period dramas. From blood cults to trips to the Caribbean, from campy one-liners to the fall of one of France’s most powerful beings, Reign is a lot of fun and a refreshing stylistic change from the normally genre-obsessed CW.
Recommended episodes: “Pilot”; “Left Behind”; “The Consummation”; “Long Live the King”; “Slaughter of Innocence”
How you can catch up: iTunes has the entire first season at $2.99 per episode. CWTV.com has the last three episodes of the season, in addition to two earlier episodes, available. Hulu has the last three episodes of the season, in addition to two earlier episodes, available. Amazon Instant has the entire first season available at $1.99 per episode, with the entire season at $19.99. The last three episodes of the season, in addition to two earlier episodes, are available on demand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRpcOUiJJdc

Revenge (ABC)
Premiere date: Sunday, September 28th
Premise: A scorned woman moves to the Hamptons to seek vengeance on those who framed her father.
Who’s in it: Emily VanCamp (Everwood), Madeleine Stowe (The Last of the Mohicans), Gabriel Mann (The Bourne Supremacy), Nick Wechsler (Roswell), and Josh Bowman (Make It or Break It)
Why you should catch up: Revenge very much stumbled during its second season. Rather than continuing to mine the specificity of Emily Thorne’s quest for vengeance, it got too big, too bloated, and too boring, losing sight of the heart of the series in favor of Alias-like conspiracies and the vaguest shadow organization you can imagine. However, a showrunner change and some impressive soul-searching found the ABC drama at the top of its game during its most recent season; not only did Revenge allow Emily to, y’know, get some revenge through takedowns of the week and some serious progress against the Graysons, it allowed her to reexamine why exactly she’s doing this and reignite her determination to see things out for her father. In a season of katanas, mental institutions, and over-the-top deaths, it was a more cerebral way of looking at the very damaged psyche of a woman who lost her entire childhood due to the interests of the very people she’s trying to bring down.
Recommended episodes: “Secrecy”; “Exodus”; “Disgrace”; “Impetus”; “Execution”
How you can catch up: iTunes has the entire third season available at $2.99 per episode. ABC.com has the last five episodes of the season available. The last five episodes of the season are available through Hulu, though the entire 22-episode third season is available through Hulu-Plus. Amazon Instant has the entire third season available at $1.99 per episode, with the entire season at $39.99. The last five episodes of the season are available on demand.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AAqywOC3p04

Sleepy Hollow (FOX)
Premiere date: Monday, September 22nd
Premise: A resurrected Ichabod Crane returns to Sleepy Hollow and teams with a female police officer to prevent the apocalypse.
Who’s in it: Tom Mison (Parade’s End), Nicole Beharie (Shame), Orlando Jones (MADtv), and Katia Winter (Dexter)
Why you should catch up: Sleepy Hollow should not have worked. It had a ridiculous concept that was made all the more ridiculous by its high-octane trailer, but the commitment that the show had to its concept and the self-aware humor that quickly became an integral part of the show tied everything together beautifully. In a television landscape committed to creating the least offensive, more broadly appealing content possible, Sleepy Hollow was very much itself and never pretended to be anything else, highlighting the playful chemistry between Beharie and Mison while crafting a show that worked both as supernatural procedural and mythologically threaded serial drama. It was loud, it was visually striking, and it had more chutzpah than nearly every other freshman drama from last season combined – it was event television in every sense of the word and something that has the potential to become even greater going forward.
Recommended episodes: “Pilot”; “The Sin Eater”; “Necromancer”; “The Golem”; “Bad Blood”
How you can catch up: iTunes has the entire first season available at $2.99 per episode, in addition to a wealth of free bonus material. FOX.com has the last eight episodes of the season available for a limited time. Hulu Plus has the entire first season available. The first episode that will air in its time period will be Tuesday, February 25th at 9:00, but a special preview episode is set to debut Friday, February 21st at 10:30 following the NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage. In a similar situation is Growing Up Fisher (formerly The Family Guide), who will have a sneak preview episode airing after the Sochi Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, February 23rd at 10:30 before beginning its time on Tuesdays February 25th at 9:30.

J.J. Abrams-produced drama Believe, which tells the story of a young girl with special powers she can’t control, will have its own special preview Monday, March 10th at 10:00 behind a new episode of The Voice before moving into its Sundays at 9:00 time period March 16th. That same week, Crisis, starring the likes of Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney, will premiere at 10:00, with reality competition series American Dream Builders premiere Sunday, March 23rd at 8:00. The latter is set to be hosted by Nate Berkus.

Even with all the new premiere dates, NBC still has midseason series without a premiere date, as pirate drama Crossbones and medical drama The Night Shift are awaiting scheduling placement. While one or both of those could eventually be delayed until the summer, more pressing is NBC using the Olympics as heavily as they are in promoting their new comedies, a strategy that didn’t work last season with Go On and Animal Practice. A heavy wave of ads promoting the shows is one thing and something to be expected for every major event like this, but airing episodes after the closing ceremony is risky and something that could easily blow up in the network’s face like it did last time.

Which of NBC’s midseason series will you be watching? Do you think that either Crossbones or The Night Shift will be delayed until summer? Will any of the midseason series become the hit that NBC needs?

Today, they officially started ordering new shows for next season, beginning with two new dramas and a comedy adaptation of a Hugh Grant movie.

Believe becomes J.J. Abrams’ second pickup for next season, joining FOX’s robo-cop drama Almost Human. The show follows a girl in possession of a great gift/powers – which will come into their own in seven years – and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down. Among those starring are Delroy Lindo, Jamie Chung, and Kyle MacLachlan. From Rand Ravich, Crisis is a Washington, D.C.-set drama about an idealistic secret service agent who finds himself at the epicenter of an international crisis on his first day on the job. The show stars the likes of Dermot Mulroney, Lance Gross, Gillian Anderson, and Rachael Taylor.

On the comedy side, NBC’s first pickup is About a Boy, executive produced and adapted by Parenthood’s Jason Katims. The show, based on Nick Hornby’s book-turned-film of the same name, tells the story of the relationship between a bachelor man-child and the young boy who moves in next-door with his kooky single mother. The show features David Walton, Minnie Driver, Al Madrigal, and Anjelah N. Johnson. It has also given the greenlight to Sean Saves the World, a multi-camera comedy from Will & Grace‘s Sean Hayes, who stars as a father who must figure out how to become a full-time dad to his teenage daughter as well as navigate his temperamental new boss at work.

Finally, the network has picked up The Family Guide from D.J. Nash. In the comedy, starring Parker Posey and JK Simmons, a 14-year-old boy who watches his family come closer together post-divorce.

NBC is set to unveil its 2013-2014 schedule the morning of Monday, May 13th.

Are you looking forward to these new shows? Do you think that any of them will breakthrough for NBC? What type of shows should NBC be looking to pick up for the 2013-2014 season?
