“Time and time again, Ryan Murphy has transformed the medium of television by redefining genres and formats as he did with Nip/Tuck, Glee and the American Horror Story franchise, and we expect the same of American Crime Story,” said FX Networks CEO John Landgraf. “Scott and Larry have adapted Jeffrey Toobin’s book into a masterful 10-hour piece. I have no doubt that Ryan and his partners Nina Jacobson, Brad Simpson, Brad Falchuk, and Dante Di Loreto are going to make something very memorable here – and that it will be a spectacular first entry in what is destined to become a series of great true crime-based miniseries.”

Based on Jeffrey Toobin’s The Run of His Life: The People V. O.J. Simpson, the first edition of American Crime Story will focus on the O.J. Simpson murder trial that dominated the national conversation in 1994 on way to becoming the most infamous celebrity trial of all-time. The season is said to be told through the perspective of the trial lawyers and explore the circumstances that led to Simpson being acquitted. Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy will direct the first episode of the 10-episode first season, while Scott Alexander and Larry Karaszewski (The People Vs. Larry Flynt) are set to pen the script. No casting announcements have been made as of yet, though the lineup should be set over the next couple of months.

Filming on American Crime Story begins early next year, with the series likely to premiere that same year.

From Andrew Gurland (The Last Exorcism), Married follows Russ (Nat Faxon) and Lina Bowman (Judy Greer), a miserably in love married couple who can barely remember what life was like before the days of kids and responsibilities. The series, which averaged 1.96 million in Total Viewers and 1.35 million in Adults 18-49 over the course of its first seven episodes, also stars Jenny Slate (House of Lies), Paul Reiser (Mad About You), and Brett Gelman (Go On).

Starring Aya Cash (The Wolf of Wall Street) and Chris Geere (After Earth), You’re the Worst tells the story of self-destructive publicist Gretchen (Cash), who refuses to grow up and accept her adulthood, and arrogant author Jimmy (Geere), whose experience with love has left him jaded, trying to form a meaningful relationship. Created by Stephen Falk (Orange Is the New Black), You’re the Worst averaged 1.65 million in Total Viewers and 1.09 million in Adults 18-49 over the course of its first seven episodes and also stars Kether Donohue (Pitch Perfect) and Desmin Borges (Mr. Popper’s Penguins).

Both Married and You’re the Worst wrapped their 10-episode first seasons earlier this month. The latter will join an FXX lineup that includes The League and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia, with Jay Baruchel-starring Man Seeking Woman set to premiere this coming March.

Created by Mark Roberts (Two and a Half Men), Mike & Molly follows Chicago police officer Mike (Billy Gardell) and school teacher Molly (Melissa McCarthy) as they meet in an Overeaters Anonymous meeting and begin a romantic relationship. The series also stars Reno Wilson (The Hoop Life), Katy Mixon (Eastbound & Down), Swoosie Kurtz (Pushing Daisies), Nyambi Nyambi (Day Night Day Night), and Louis Mustillo (The Sopranos).

The pilot for Mike & Molly is set to air Tuesday, September 23rd at 5:00 p.m. on FX, with four episodes to air per weekday. The fifth season of the comedy hasn’t been scheduled yet, though with 22 episodes expected, it should premiere sooner rather than later.

“Zach Galifianakis, Louis C.K., and Jonathan Krisel have created an absolutely brilliant show,” said President of Original Programming for FX Networks and FX Productions Eric Schrier.  “To say Zach’s portrayal of the lead character Chip Baskets is hilarious/unique/riveting/fascinating would be an understatement.  We can’t wait for the world to meet him.”

Co-created by Galifianakis and executive produced by Louis C.K., Baskets follows a Bakersfield man (Galifianakis) as he pursues his dream of being a professional clown. After he gets thrown out of a Parisian clowning school, he decides to take a job with a local rodeo in order to build his resumee and give himself the chance to experience the life that he always wanted.

The series is the fifth comedy series order handed out by FX this year, joining The Tracy Morgan Project (FXX), Jay Baruchel-starring Man Seeking Woman (FXX), Denis Leary-starring Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll (FX), and Billy Crystal vehicle The Comedians (FX). What remains to be seen is what impact this recent glut of comedy orders will have on FX’s current comedy slate. After the cancellation of Chozen, Archer is currently without a lead-out, while Louie aired this past spring in order to become eligible for the Emmys and two new comedies were launched in Married and You’re the Worst. FX doesn’t have a comedy on in the fall due to the transition of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia and The League to FXX, so there should be space for all these shows, meaning that the series orders might not be bad news for Married and You’re the Worst.

FX will be premiering two new dramas this coming summer in Tyrant and The Strain. The former, to bow Tuesday, June 24th at 10:00, comes from Howard Gordon (24) and Gideon Raff (Homeland) and tells the story of Bassam “Barry” Al Fayeed (Adam Rayner), the younger son of the dictator of a war-torn nation. He decides to end a self-imposed 20-year exile from his home country and returns, this time with his wife and children, only to find that the culture clash his family experiences threatens to swallow them whole. The latter, set to become FX’s first Sunday drama with a July 13th premiere, is based on the best-selling trilogy of the same name and follows Dr. Ephraim Goodweather (Corey Stoll), the head of the Center for Disease Control Canary Team in New York City. When his team gets called in to investigate a viral outbreak with the hallmarks of vampirism, nothing will ever be the same.

In addition to Rayner, Tyrant stars Jennifer Finnigan (Monday Mornings), Justin Kirk (Weeds), Jordana Spiro (My Boys), Moran Atias (The Next Three Days), and Ashraf Barhom (The Kingdom). The Strain, which was created by Guillermo del Toro (Pan’s Labyrinth) and will be ran by Carlton Cuse (Lost), stars David Bradley (Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban), Kevin Durand (X-Men Origins: Wolverine), Mia Maestro (Frida), Regina King (Southland), and Sean Astin (The Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers).

Additionally, FX will be returning one drama this summer in the form of The Bridge, which underwent some upheaval behind the scenes with the departure of co-creator Meredith Stiehm. To debut Wednesday, July 9th at 10:00, the second season of The Bridge finds Marco reeling from the death of his son, Sonya encountering a mysterious man who threatens to come between her and Hank, and Daniel and Adriana continuing to follow the Millie Quintana Money House.

FX will also be debuting three comedies during the summer months, starting with Andrew Gurland’s Married on Thursday, July 17th at 10:00. Starring Nat Faxon (Ben & Kate) and Judy Greer (Archer), the series follows a married couple drowning in kids, debt, and suburbia, who are sometimes reminded of just how deep a connection they share. Following the premiere of Married is You’re the Worst, which debuts Thursday, July 17th at 10:30. From Stephen Falk (Weeds), the comedy tells the story of two self-destructive people (Aya Cash, Chris Geere) who fall in love despite themselves and attempt the impossible—a relationship. Finally, the network will be debuting its next 10/90 comedy, Partners, on Monday, August 4th at 9:00. Airing its first 10 episodes in 5 weeks, the series stars Martin Lawrence (Martin) and Kelsey Grammer (Frasier) as two Chicago lawyers from vastly different backgrounds who unexpectedly meet in court as they each face a personal crisis.

Meanwhile, at FXX, the final season of Wilfred is set to premiere Wednesday, June 25th at 10:00 with back-to-back episodes. The series, which barely managed to scrape a fourth season renewal after a third season collapse, will have 10 episodes in its final season and will serve as FXX’s lone summer scripted entry.

Also impacted by the Sochi Olympics is Justified, as the crime drama will be taking one-week off beginning Tuesday, February 18h. The show will return February 25th with an episode that finds Raylan pursuing a grifter and Boyd heading south with the Crowes.

Though it seems likely that the trio of shows wouldn”t share a whole lot of audience with the Olympics, it”s better to be safe than sorry in cases like this, considering that the first night of Olympic coverage netted nearly a 6.0 in the 18-49 demo last night, doubling up American Idol in the process. FX shows may see most of their audience through replays and DVR, but it wouldn”t be doing any of them a favor by throwing them in front of a buzzsaw, particularly in the case of Chozen. The comedy, featuring voice work from the likes of Bobby Moynihan, Method Man, and Michael Pena, garnered about 700,000 viewers its last original episode and regularly holds a little more than half of Archer“s numbers. As such, it needs all the momentum it could get, momentum that would be difficult to regain if it sustained damage airing against the Winter Olympics. A two-week hiatus isn”t ideal for a new show, but it”s the preferable option here and could give Chozen a better chance at renewal.

Archer airs Mondays at 10:00 on FX, with Chozen following at 10:30 and Justified airing Tuesdays at 10:00. The network”s premiere of The Americans season two will not be impacted by the Winter Olympics, as FX scheduled the return of Philip and Elizabeth Jennings for days after the Sochi closing ceremonies.

Meanwhile, You’re the Worst, from Stephen Falk (Orange is the New Black), follows two self-destructive people attempting a relationship and the chaos that results. The series will star Chris Geere (The Spa), Aya Cash (The Wolf of Wall Street), Kether Donohue (The Carrie Diaries) and Desmin Borges (The Good Wife).

“Married and You’re the Worst represent the continuing expansion of our comedy brand. They are smart, funny and adult. Married is a frank and honest portrayal of a marriage — both good and bad. You’re the Worst examines relationships — or lack thereof — of millennials and the uncertainty and anxiety that comes with those relationships. There is tremendous talent behind these shows and we couldn’t happier about the quality of these pilots,” FX original programming president Nick Grad said.

The shows will be subbing in for usual FX summer entries Wilfred, which will have its fourth and final season this year on FXX, and Louie, set to air this coming spring following a lengthy hiatus. They’ll be the second and third new comedies of the year for the network, which has already debuted animated comedy Chozen, a project that was originally slated to air on FXX.

John Landgraf shared with the reporters at the TCA that Justified is one of his favorite shows and he would’ve wanted for it to stay, although he has agreed to this decision taken by the showruner Graham Yost and the star of the show Timothy Olyphant.

The fifth season of Justified just kicked off earlier this month and now the next season will the final season of the show, which will be premiered sometime in 2015. Earlier the rumors quoted that the current season 5 is the show’s last season on FX but then after Landgraf’s statement at the TCA, it was confirmed otherwise. All rumors stating the fate of Justified were put to rest as the FX has made its official statement at the TCA. Although, we agree with CEO Landgraf on the fact that the show could have continued.

Along with Justified, several other popular shows are also getting over in the near future. FX would also be bidding adieu to its super hit dram Sons of Anarchy, which will be airing the final and seventh season during the fall this year. Joining the club are three other shows by HBO – True Blood, Boardwalk Empire and Newsroom, which are also saying goodbye by airing their finale seasons this year.

Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll will star Leary as Johnny Rock, talented singer of early ’90s New York-based band The Heathens.  Once on the cusp of stardom, Johnny’s habit of sex and drugs led the band to a break up on the day that their only record was released.

Now, 25 years later, Johnny is trying to get the band back together.

The half-hour single camera pilot will be filmed in New York City, likely this spring, and FX teases that the series could feature original music and guest appearances by real-life rock stars.

Said FX original programming president Nick Schrier in a statement, “Denis is a tremendous talent who played a major role in the growth of our network with ‘Rescue Me,’ which was one of the most groundbreaking series of the last decade. We’re thrilled to have him back home at FX.”

Leary added “I am very excited to be returning to FX where working with Nick [Grad of FX Productions], Eric and [FX boss] John Landgraf has been one of the best creative experiences of my life. Plus, I hear they have much better swag now.”

Chozen tells the story of gay white rapper Chozen, who has recently been released from prison. However, instead of coming out into the free world angry at his incarceration or looking to seek revenge on those responsible for his conviction, he’s hell-bent on spreading a positive message through his music and redeem himself for the sins he committed before going to prison. While on a quest to become the world’s top rapper, he uses the worldview wrought from time behind bars to poke at stereotypes associated with rap music.

Chozen features voice work from the likes of Bobby Moynihan (Saturday Night Live), Michael Peña (Shooter), Hannibal Buress (The Eric Andre Show), Nick Swardson (Just Go with It), Cliff “Method Man” Smith (How High), and Kathryn Hahn (Parks and Recreation). Tom Brady (Good Vibes, Home Improvement) serves as showrunner, while producers include Grant Dekernion, Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down), Jody Hill (Observe and Report), David Gordon Green (Pineapple Express), and Brandon James (This is the End).
