Netflix streams the first three seasons of Arrested Development and picked up a fourth as an original production and has borrowed the laffer’s opening bit as a treatment for Orange is the New Black.  The streaming service even got Ron Howard, executive producer and narrator of Arrested to voice the intro.

Season two of Orange is the New Black streams on Netflix on Friday.  It has also already been renewed for a third season.

The dramety was created by Jenji Kohan and is based on Piper Kerman’s memoir Orange is the New Black: My Year in a Women’s Prison.  The series stars Taylor Schilling, Laura Prepon, Jason Biggs, Kate Mulgrew, Laverne Cox, Pablo Schreiber, Danielle Brooks, Taryn Manning and Uzo Abuda.

“We have several of our strongest comedies by some of our best auspices being held for midseason, including the final season of ‘Parks and Recreation,’” said NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke.

The Amy Poehler-starrer has been on the Peacock net since 2009.  Despite Parks struggles in the ratings, it has long recieved critical acclaim, as well as passionate fan support.  The show has also garnered several Emmy nominations, and Poehler recieved a Golden Globe for her performance as lead actress in a comedy.

NBC has not yet released the length of Parks and Recreation‘s final season, and also confirmed that Parenthood‘s upcoming sixth season will be its last.

Veep, currently in its third season has garnered three Emmys: two for the show’s lead Julia Louis-Dreyfus – and the comedy’s renewal comes at no surprise.  Freshman series Silicon Valley has also premiered to strong critical review earlier this month.

While there is no guarantee that these three programs will stick together next season, however fans of the shows can now rest assured that they will all be back at some point.

Veep‘s current season will wrap on June 8th, while Silicon Valley concludes on June 1st.

Late Night

Meyers announced via Twitter this afternoon that he’s bringing his fellow Saturday Night Live vet with him to Late Night as his band leader.  Said the new Late Night host: “Fred will curate and lead the band, and continute to run it even when he’s off shooting Portlandia,” along with hashtag “8GBand.”

The announcement lands Armisen in the company of other late night talk show sidekicks including Letterman’s Paul Shaffer, Conan’s Andy Richter, and Craig Ferguson’s animatronic Geoff Peterson.

Late Night with Seth Meyers premieres Monday, February 24th.  Meyers will be stepping into Jimmy Fallon’s place as he is taking over The Tonight Show after Jay Leno’s exit last Thursday.

But as always on the ABC sitcom, it’s the effort that counts.

According to Entertainment Weekly, Key will be guest starring as Reverend Deveaux, described as ‘a charismatic preacher who is visiting the Hecks’ church through a minister exchange program.’  Deveaux, a former spiritual adviser to the Cleveland Browns, will offer his counseling services to the Hecks as he “knows a group in crisis when he sees one.”

And if that’s not an accurate description of the Hecks, I don’t know what is.

Key’s recent guest spots also include How I Met Your Mother, Wilfred, and The League.

Key’s episode has now definite airdate as of yet.   The Middle returns tomorrow night, January 8th at 8 PM on ABC.

The production of the upcoming season of this Sitcom will be done by Showtime and co-produced by BBC. Episodes’ Season 3 is all set to premiere in the next year on January 12^th at 10:30 p.m and will be a part or Showtime’s winter schedule, alongside House of Lies and Shameless. The new season of Episodes is going to be aired on Showtime almost after one and a half years, quite a wait for the fans! The previous and the second season of the sitcom was a hit, drawing a viewership of 1.66 million, across different platforms.

In the upcoming season of Episodes, we will see Beverly, played by Tamsin Greig and Sean, played by Stephen Mangan, getting back together and Matt’s (LeBlanc himself) career continues to see downfall, so does his ego. This season’s guest appearances on the show will include the 24 fame, Chris Diamantopoulos and Roger Bart (from Revenge), who will be seen in a total of four episodes, playing LeBlanc’s agent. Also the Revolution fame Tracy Spiridakos will be guest starring as a member of the actress, Morning Randolph’s (Mircea Monroe) family.

For thos who are not aware, Episodes is a creation of David Crane, widely known for his immensely popular comedy series Friends, along with Jeffrey Klarik, known for Mad About You. The award-winning writing duo and executive producers of the show are known to pen down every single episode without a writer room. Jimmy Mulville also joins them as executive producer through his company Hat Trick Productions.

…I mean the little boy who wants his Mom and Dad back together.

John Lithgow returned to the show to reprise his role as Barney’s father Jerry, who since leaving him behind as a kid has married and had more children.   Jerry hasn’t even seen Loretta in years – but that doesn’t stop Barney from jumping to conclusions and excitement as he does, and believing that his parents have somehow re-discovered their love for earch other.  Barney then goes all out trying to set his parents up again, sending Jerry’s wife away with Ranjeet, trapping the two in an elevator and sending down wine and candles, and the smooth jazz arangement of “Bang Bang Bangity Bang.”

But Barney’s not the only son playing matchmaker.  Sam (Ben Vereen), James’s father has also arrived in Farhampton.  In part to stand in to perform Barney and Robin’s ceremony…but also because he’s getting back together with Loretta.  James could not be happier, but Barney has to face the fact that his parents getting back together just isn’t going to happen.

Daphne, a pleasant addition to the show for this run of episodes, also saw some traction, as Marshall made sure she made it to her daughter’s school on time.  After getting completely fed up with The Proclaimers and their road tirp in general, Daphne broke down, spurring Marshall – who we all know is one of the nicest guys in the world – to go out of the way to get her to her daughter.  This was a great change to see; not only did Marshall realize that Daphne had been telling the truth the whole time, but Daphne also finally softened.  However, it seems that this marks the end of Daphne on HIMYM.

Elsewhere in the episode, Ted and Lily dealt with William Zabka attempting to undermine Ted as best man by fake-ruining a gift from Barney to Robin.  Detective Mosby arrived on the case, and ultimately ended up lying to give Zabka a chance to be the good guy (instead of the villian he so often portrays).

Overall, this was a great episode.  While nothing was necessarily earth-shattering in terms of the overall plot, it was great to see the true childlike dream of Barney’s.  And of course, there were great highlights: the aforementioned arrangement of “Bang Bang Bangity Bang,” the fantastic 1950s Stinson family musical bit, but most importantly, the Pineapple incident.

Yes, upon Ted beginning his investigation Lily revealed the case from “8 years ago you still haven’t cracked.”  Cut to a murder board-like situation of Ted investigating the mysterious Pineapple…and failing.

Personally, I can’t wait to see what happens in Farhampton after Marshall finally arrives with Marvin.

Davies will be venturing on television after his hit drama Queer As Folk was screened, almost fifteen years back. Channel 4 is said to also be screening Banana and Cucumber on its online channel, Channel 4, which targets the young audience. Both of the drama series will be showcasing the everyday gay life of the modern century, along with its passions and setbacks. The online web series, names Tofu will be more of an unconventional online guide for the targeted audience, majorly based on the facts shown on the shows, every week.

The first drama, Cucumber is centered on Henry, 46 and his long-term boyfriend Lance and is an eight-episode series of one hour each. Their life is peaceful and fine until a life-wrecking date night, following which Henry life is completely transformed. The other series to be screened on E4, Banana will be following the lives of Cucumber’s characters and consist of eight episodes of 3o minutes each. In a statement, Channel 4 said that Banana will have it all, from young lesbian love, family secrecy to 50 shades of gay and much more.  The Channel’s head of drama, Piers Wenger said that no one better than Russell can pen down the soul of relationships of the 21^st Century on the channel.

Gilligan will be acting for the very first time in this spot, playing a smooth-talking gold digger who ends up provoking a fight between Abed (Danny Pudi) and Annie (Alison Brie).  The episode, being filmed this week, will most likely air in the late winter or early spring stint of the season.

Gilligan won’t be the only Breaking Bad alum to appear on the comedy this season – Jonathan Banks will also be playing a criminology professor in 11 episodes.

Other guest faces in season 5 of Community include Nathan Fillion, Walton Goggins, Robert Patrick, Kumali Nanjiani, Paget Brewster, Brie Larson, and Arrested Development creator Mitchell Hurwitz, among many others. 

Community begins season 5 on January 2nd.

Fisher’s most recent TV credits include a guest spot on Entourage and Family Guy as Angela.

The second season of Legit airs in January 2014 on FXX.
