Having averaged 5.3 million viewers during its eight-episode first season, Black Sails will pick up its second season with Flint and Silver having had their backs pressed against the wall once the crew of the Walrus found out about their crimes. While the crew must decide whether they intend to go after the Urca or hold their captain accountable for what he’s done, Eleanor will be battling New Low, a blood-thirsty pirate who threatens her position as the head of Nassau. But the entire fabric of the island will be forever altered when its power players learn about a prize that was smuggled onto Nassau’s shores, something that could shift the balance of power and make one of them a very rich individual.

From Jonathan Steinberg (Jericho) and Robert Levine (Touch), Black Sails stars Toby Stephens (Die Another Day), Hannah New (Maleficent), Zach McGowan (Shameless), Luke Arnold (The Tunnel Movie), and Toby Schmitz (Griff the Invisible).

Black Sails joins a 2015 lineup for Starz that includes the second half of Outlander‘s first season, the third season of Da Vinci’s Demons, the second season of Power, and the first seasons of ballet drama Flesh and Bone and Seth MacFarlane comedy Blunt Talk.

Based on the Diana Gabaldon-penned series of novels and adapted for television by Ronald D. Moore (Battlestar Galactica), Outlander tells the story of newlywed World War II nurse Claire Randall (Caitriona Balfe) as she finds herself transported back to 18th century Scotland. Once there, she aligns herself with handsome warrior Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan) and soon enough, Claire begins developing feelings for him that go beyond the arrangement of convenience she thought she was getting herself into.

Averaging more than 5 million viewers through its first four episodes, with a series high 1.23 million L+SD viewers watching Jamie and Claire’s much-anticipated wedding, Outlander also stars Tobias Menzies (Rome), Gary Lewis (Gangs of New York), Graham McTavish (The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey), Lotte Verbeek (The Borgias), and Bill Paterson (The Killing Fields).

Based on the novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and written/directed by playwright Biyi Bandele, Half of a Yellow Sun follows sisters Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) as their lives diverge once they return to Nigeria from a stint in England. While Olanna defies her family by going to live with lover Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Kainene becomes a fiercely successful businesswoman who falls in love with an English writer. The two get wrapped up in the events of the Nigerian Civil War, with the film focusing on how the conflict between the Igbo and the Biafra changed the lives of Olanna and Kainene and how a single betrayal can change a relationship forever.

Half of a Yellow Sun, which first premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival before debuting in the UK, Lagos, and Nigeria this year, also stars Onyeka Onwemu (Mama), Genevieve Nnaji (The Mirror Boy), Joseph Mawle (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), John Boyega (Attack the Block), and Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails).

Created by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) and Jonathan Ames (Bored to Death), Blunt Talk stars Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Walter Blunt, an infrequently sober media figure who arrives in America looking to reach the peak of cable news. However, it”s not as easy a venture as online casino canada he might have expected, as Blunt must deal with overbearing executives, an unqualified news staff, and a messy personal life that will cause him to take his eye off the ball on more than one occasion. The series also stars Adrian Scarborough (The King”s Speech) as Walter”s manservant Harry.

In addition to her role in the 2010 crime drama, Weaver has appeared in the likes of Silver Linings Playbook, Stoker, and The Five-Year Engagement. She”ll be portraying mysterious Susan Wright on Gracepoint, FOX”s upcoming adaptation of crime drama Broadchurch, later this fall.

Blunt Talk is set to premiere on Starz next year. The series will be one of several 2015 debuts for the premiere cable network, including ballet drama Flesh and Bone, anthology The Girlfriend Experience, and farming drama One Percent.

Based on the 2009 Stephen Soderbergh film of the same name, The Girlfriend Experience will explore the relationships forged by exclusive courtesans, all of whom provide their clients with more than a quick trip to the bedroom. They get to know their clients on an intimate level, become quasi-significant others to some of the most powerful men in the city, and get paid handsomely for their time. Keough is the first piece of casting to be announced and will presumably be playing one of the Girlfriends, while the series will be executive produced by Soderbergh, Philip Fleishman, Lodge Kerrigan (Clean, Shaven), and Amy Seimetz (The Killing).

In addition to her role in the 2010 biopic, Keough has appeared in the likes of Magic Mike, The Good Doctor, and Kiss of the Damned. Her role in The Girlfriend Experience will be her first television credit.

The Girlfriend Experience is slated to premiere next year on Starz, along with Seth MacFarlane comedy Blunt Talk, farming drama One Percent, and ballet drama Flesh and Bone. Additional casting should be announced in the coming months.

One Percent is the latest series pickup from Starz, which has looked to expand its scripted presence in recent years. In addition to already renewed Black Sails, Da Vinci’s Demons, and Power, the network is responsible for Outlander, upcoming basketball comedy Survivor’s Remorse, and upcoming thriller The Missing. One Percent joins a growing list of 2015 newcomers for the premium network that includes ballet drama Flesh and Bone and Seth MacFarlane-produced comedy Blunt Talk, the latter of which stars Patrick Stewart.

In addition to Helms, One Percent is set to star two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry) as Alfred’s wife Laura and four-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris (A Beautiful Mind) as Murphy family patriarch Nathaniel. Harris also recently signed on to HBO drama Westworld, which, if it goes to series, could have an impact on the size of his role on One Percent.

Desperate to locate his son, Tony enlists the help of a local detective in his quest to bring those responsible for Oliver’s disappearance to justice, no matter the cost. Even if it means fracturing his marriage beyond repair and losing what sanity he’s managed to hang on to since Oliver disappeared.

The Missing will be the second fall series for Starz, as basketball comedy Survivor’s Remorse begins its six-episode run in October. The network has amped up their number of scripted hours in 2014 and should continue that well into 2015, thanks to the success of Power, Black Sails, and Da Vinci’s Demons and upcoming projects Blunt Talk and Flesh and Bone. Given the success of The White Queen and the fact that The Missing is a co-production with BBC, it seems likely that at least one international series will premiere on Starz sometime within the next calendar year, as well.

In addition to Hughes, The Missing stars Tcheky Karyo (Goldeneye), Frances O’Connor (Mr. Selfridge), Arsher Ali (Four Lions), Titus De Voogt (Any Way the Wind Blows), and Anamaria Marinca (4 Weeks, 3 Months and 2 Days).
