The first episode that will air in its time period will be Tuesday, February 25th at 9:00, but a special preview episode is set to debut Friday, February 21st at 10:30 following the NBC’s Winter Olympics coverage. In a similar situation is Growing Up Fisher (formerly The Family Guide), who will have a sneak preview episode airing after the Sochi Olympics closing ceremony on Sunday, February 23rd at 10:30 before beginning its time on Tuesdays February 25th at 9:30.

J.J. Abrams-produced drama Believe, which tells the story of a young girl with special powers she can’t control, will have its own special preview Monday, March 10th at 10:00 behind a new episode of The Voice before moving into its Sundays at 9:00 time period March 16th. That same week, Crisis, starring the likes of Gillian Anderson and Dermot Mulroney, will premiere at 10:00, with reality competition series American Dream Builders premiere Sunday, March 23rd at 8:00. The latter is set to be hosted by Nate Berkus.

Even with all the new premiere dates, NBC still has midseason series without a premiere date, as pirate drama Crossbones and medical drama The Night Shift are awaiting scheduling placement. While one or both of those could eventually be delayed until the summer, more pressing is NBC using the Olympics as heavily as they are in promoting their new comedies, a strategy that didn’t work last season with Go On and Animal Practice. A heavy wave of ads promoting the shows is one thing and something to be expected for every major event like this, but airing episodes after the closing ceremony is risky and something that could easily blow up in the network’s face like it did last time.

Which of NBC’s midseason series will you be watching? Do you think that either Crossbones or The Night Shift will be delayed until summer? Will any of the midseason series become the hit that NBC needs?

Created by Rand Ravich (Life), the series tells the story of Ballard High School, a place where the children of all D.C.’s elite figures receive their education. When the school’s field trip bus gets ambushed and both the students and the chaperones taken hostage, a national crisis breaks out and the country begins holding its collective breath that everyone can return safely and soundly. But the closer the authorities get to finding out who’s behind the abduction and what their terms of releasing the hostages are, the more it looks like the incident wasn’t random and the greater the possibility that someone on the inside is responsible for the incident.

Currently, Crisis is scheduled to air Sundays at 10:00 once the Winter Olympics are completed, where it will follow fellow newbies American Dream Builders and Believe, the latter from Gravity director Alfonso Cuaron and J.J. Abrams. Sundays are already increasingly difficult for broadcast networks to deal with, considering the glut of programming vying for the same audience, and while an entire night of new shows didn’t pan out for ABC Tuesdays this fall, Crisis might have an outside shot in getting the type of sampling necessary to survive. Granted, fellow shows of its ilk Zero Hour, Cult, and Hostages failed to find an audience, but the previews for Crisis are loud and frenzied enough to where it doesn’t look like a show that will be ignored upon its debut. With its broadcast competition decidedly limited (a weakened Revenge, a fading The Mentalist), this could be the crazy conspiracy drama that rises above a potentially limited premise and finds an audience for itself.

Crisis stars the likes of Dermot Mulroney (Enlightened), Gillian Anderson (Hannibal), Rachael Taylor (666 Park Avenue), James Lafferty (One Tree Hill), and Lance Gross (Tyler Perry’s House of Payne).

Will you be watching Crisis? Do you think the show will find an audience on Sundays at 10:00? How long can a show with this premise feasibly last?

Today, they officially started ordering new shows for next season, beginning with two new dramas and a comedy adaptation of a Hugh Grant movie.

Believe becomes J.J. Abrams’ second pickup for next season, joining FOX’s robo-cop drama Almost Human. The show follows a girl in possession of a great gift/powers – which will come into their own in seven years – and the man who is sprung from prison to protect her from those trying to hunt her down. Among those starring are Delroy Lindo, Jamie Chung, and Kyle MacLachlan. From Rand Ravich, Crisis is a Washington, D.C.-set drama about an idealistic secret service agent who finds himself at the epicenter of an international crisis on his first day on the job. The show stars the likes of Dermot Mulroney, Lance Gross, Gillian Anderson, and Rachael Taylor.

On the comedy side, NBC’s first pickup is About a Boy, executive produced and adapted by Parenthood’s Jason Katims. The show, based on Nick Hornby’s book-turned-film of the same name, tells the story of the relationship between a bachelor man-child and the young boy who moves in next-door with his kooky single mother. The show features David Walton, Minnie Driver, Al Madrigal, and Anjelah N. Johnson. It has also given the greenlight to Sean Saves the World, a multi-camera comedy from Will & Grace‘s Sean Hayes, who stars as a father who must figure out how to become a full-time dad to his teenage daughter as well as navigate his temperamental new boss at work.

Finally, the network has picked up The Family Guide from D.J. Nash. In the comedy, starring Parker Posey and JK Simmons, a 14-year-old boy who watches his family come closer together post-divorce.

NBC is set to unveil its 2013-2014 schedule the morning of Monday, May 13th.

Are you looking forward to these new shows? Do you think that any of them will breakthrough for NBC? What type of shows should NBC be looking to pick up for the 2013-2014 season?
