The strategy of waiting until later to premiere their shows worked fairly well for The CW and helped Arrow become the type of building block needed to sustain the network. While the wait can allow people to already set their viewing habits, it reduced the amount of reruns the serial-heavy channel had to air and allowed them to have a certain marketing space all to themselves in which to launch their series. This season in particular should be a test for The CW, since their fall schedule is vastly different than where they were last season and could either pop thanks to the reshuffling or fizzle due to the movement. The network’s midseason series, post-apocalyptic The 100 and fantasy romance Star-Crossed, have yet to be schedule, while the finale of America’s Next Top Model: Guys and Girls has yet to be announced. The Tyra Banks-hosted reality-competition debuts on Friday, August 2nd at 8:00.

You can check out The CW’s fall 2013 schedule here, as well as trailers and previews for each of its new series here, here, and here.

The duo join The Vampire Diaries, Supernatural, and Arrow on the 2013-2014 schedule, as the three genre shows have already been renewed.

Both Hart and Beauty were firmly on the bubble this season, though steadiness and continued streaming strength in the former and the latter’s dedicated fanbase, tonal fit with the network’s largely genre pilots, and flexible procedural nature put them over the top. While episode numbers weren’t revealed, each should find a place on the fall schedule; it’ll be interesting how they’re scheduled, though. Hart very much has its core audience, but it doesn’t make the best lead-in for new material, so the network could stick it in a problematic 9:00 slot and try to launch a new show in front of it. Meanwhile, Beauty has put up pretty respectable numbers this season, but it doesn’t hold enough of its Vampire Diaries lead-in to stay in its Thursday slot. Though it may seem destined to move to Fridays at 9:00 to join Nikita, stranger things have happened, so how The CW uses it next season is something to pay attention to.

The network also picked up The Originals to series following its debut last night. The show, a spin-off of The Vampire Diaries, takes place in New Orleans and features the likes of Joseph Morgan, Phoebe Tonkin, and Daniel Gillies. Its place on the fall schedule was a foregone conclusion from the time it entered development, with its name brand, marketable cast, and potential tie-ins with its parent show, in addition to possible (likely?) strong DVR, iTunes, and streaming numbers.

“As soon as we saw last night’s episode of The Vampire Diaries, we knew we wanted more of The Originals – Julie Plec and Kevin Williamson have done a fantastic job with The Vampire Diaries, which is as fast-paced and well-written as ever, and Julie has created an equally compelling world for The Originals,” said Pedowitz. “We’re also very excited to bring back Beauty And The Beast and Hart of Dixie for next season – both series continue to be creatively strong and compelling, and their fans are incredibly passionate. I’m very happy to have all three series on the schedule for next season.”

All three of these series see big lifts in Live+7 Day delayed viewing versus Live + Same Day, with The Vampire Diaries jumping 52% increase among adults 18-34 and a 56% gain among women 18-34 once all time-shifted viewing is included. Hart of Dixie averages a 53% increase among adults 18-34 and a 61% gain among women 18-34, and Beauty and the Beast seeing a 43% jump in adults 18-34 and a 45% bump in women 18-34 from the overnight Live+SD to Live+7.

Not receiving a renewal (yet?) were Nikita, which is rumored to be returning for a shortened final season, and The Carrie Diaries, whose poor live ratings could be aided by strong online numbers and iTunes sales.

Do you think that The CW made the right decision in renewing both Hart and Beauty? If you were in control of the network, how would you schedule The Originals next season? Will Nikita and/or Carrie receive a renewal?

Included in the chaos, mostly confined to the week of May 13th, are deaths, difficult decisions, and dangers that, if realized, could change the makeup of entire series. From the bayou of BlueBell to the ghostly haven of Mystic Falls, there will be a lot happening between now and the season finales of each CW show, but what exactly can we look forward to in the finales? Listed below are the season finale dates of each CW series, with the corresponding episode title and description.

Which CW finale are you most excited for? Will you be sad to see 90210 sign off one final time? What type of answers will we find in each finale?

Tuesday, May 7th
8:00 Hart of Dixie – “On the Road Again”
After having a rough time in BlueBell, Zoe (Rachel Bilson) decides a little time in New York City might be the perfect opportunity to give her some much needed perspective, but a medical emergency on the plane forces her to complete the trip with an unexpected companion. When Lemon (Jaime King) promises that the Rammer Jammer will be having a special concert with the band Gloriana, she must scramble to make it happen, with the less-than-enthusiastic help of Wade (Wilson Bethel).

Monday, May 13th
8:00 90210 – “We All Fall Down”
The series finale begins with the stars and executive producers bidding farewell to the famous zip code in a look back at the show’s many unforgettable moments. Then, in a memorable send-off, our favorite group from Beverly Hills will come together again after a traumatic event that makes them realize the importance of their relationships.

Wednesday, May 15th
8:00 Arrow – “Sacrifice”
In the episode season finale, Oliver (Stephen Amell) and Diggle (David Ramsey) race to stop the Dark Archer (John Barrowman) from unleashing his vengeance on The Glades. After hearing of the danger in The Glades, Thea (Willa Holland) races to find Roy (Colton Haynes), inadvertently putting herself directly in the line of fire for Malcolm’s (John Barrowman) devious plan.

9:00 Supernatural – “Sacrifice”
With Crowley (guest star Mark Sheppard) poised to undo all the good they’ve ever done as hunters, Sam (Jared Padalecki) and Dean (Jensen Ackles) find themselves cornered. But with Kevin’s (guest star Osric Chau) help, the Winchester brothers bound into one last play against The Demon King.

Thursday, May 16th
8:00 The Vampire Diaries – “Graduation”
On Graduation Day, Mystic Falls is overrun with ghosts intent on settling old scores. Damon’s (Ian Somerhalder) life is in danger after a ghostly encounter, while Matt (Zach Roerig) and Rebekah (Claire Holt) join forces to battle a ghost determined to find the cure. Finally, Stefan (Paul Wesley) discovers a horrifying clue to the mystery surrounding Silas.

9:00 Beauty and the Beast – “Never Turn Back”
When secrets about Cat’s (Kristin Kreuk) family are revealed, it will change everything Cat knew about her past. Vincent (Jay Ryan) finds himself staring his demise in the face; while Gabe (Sendhil Ramamurthy) takes drastic measures get some answers.

Friday, May 17th
8:00 Nikita – “Til Death Do Us Part”
