From Matthew Carlson (Malcolm in the Middle), Jennifer Falls starred Jaime Pressly (My Name is Earl) as Jennifer Doyle, a single mother who loses her high-paying job and is forced to move back in with her mother. Along the way, Jennifer looks to get in touch with the woman she used to be and figure out the next direction she would like her life to take. Originally developed as a multi-cam comedy before filming as a single cam, Jennifer Falls featured Jessica Walter (Arrested Development), Ethan Suplee (Wilfred), Missi Pyle (The Artist), Nora Kirkpatrick (Greek), and Dylan Gelula (Chasing Life).

The cancellation of Jennifer Falls comes after TV Land ordered single camera comedies Impastor and Teachers for next year. Additionally, the network has set Sutton Foster comedy Younger for a January premiere, as well as cancelled Kirstie after one season and renewed The Soul Man for a 12-episode fourth season.

The series finale of Jennifer Falls aired this past August on TV Land.

Created by Darren Star (Sex and the City), Younger tells the story of single 40-something Liza (Foster), who attempts to get back into the working world after taking time off to raise her child. However, she finds it difficult to find a position at her age, so she decides to give herself a makeover in order to appear younger and land a position that will help her support her family. In addition to Foster, Younger stars Hilary Duff (A Cinderella Story), Debi Mazar (Entourage), Miriam Shor (GCB), and Nico Tortorella (The Following).

Younger joins a growing scripted slate for TV Land, which includes Hot in Cleveland and The Soul Man. The network picked two new comedies – Impastor, about a man posing as a gay priest; and Teachers, which centers on six elementary school teachers – up to series yesterday evening, with both to premiere in 2015.

Created by Christopher Vane (Wings), Impastor follows pot-smoking gambler Buddy (Michael Rosenbaum) as he steals a man’s identity while on the run from a dangerous loan shark. He ends up posing as a gay pastor in a tiny speck-on-the-map town and decides to stay rather than steal the money and run when he sees that those in his congregation like him. The series also stars Sara Rue (Malibu Country), Mircea Monroe (Hart of Dixie), Aimee Garcia (Dexter), and David Rasche (Ugly Betty).

Starring Caitlin Barlow, Katy Colloton, Cate Freedman, Kate Lambert, Katie O’Brien and Katie Thomas (aka improv troupe The Katydids), Teachers revolves around six elementary school teachers who must shape the minds of the future of this country while trying to get their own lives together. The series will have Ian Roberts and Jay Martel (Key & Peele) as co-showrunners, with Alison Brie (Community) serving as executive producer.

Word on the renewal status of Jennifer Falls, which wrapped its first season this past August, has yet to be announced. TV Land recently cancelled Kirstie Alley-starring Kirstie and renewed Cedric the Entertainer vehicle The Soul Man, with Sutton Foster comedy Younger slated to premiere this coming January.

Created by Mark Reisman (Frasier), The Exes tells the story Stuart, Haskell, and Phil – three divorced men who end up living together in an apartment owned by Stuart’s divorce attorney Holly, who lives across the hall. The show, which has been the only TV Land comedy not related to Hot in Cleveland to make it past a second season, stars two-time Emmy winner Kristen Johnston (3rd Rock From the Sun), Donald Faison (Scrubs), Wayne Knight (Seinfeld), David Alan Basche (Lipstick Jungle), and Kelly Stables (Two and a Half Men).

Last season, the show added Leah Remini (King of Queens) as Nikki, Stuart’s divorced sister and a love interest for Haskell.

The fourth season of The Exes is set to premiere Wednesday, November 5th at 10:30 on TV Land.

–Touched by an Angel executive producer Martha Williamson is behind an upcoming Hallmark movie that could be turned into a series, should the ratings and buzz be high enough. Dead Letters, which stars Eric Mabius (Ugly Betty) and Kristin Booth (The Kennedys), follows a group of postal detectives whose mission is to deliver letters and packages  from the past, which arrive miraculously when they are needed most. It’s set to premiere Saturday, October 19th at 9:00 and would make its series premiere in 2014, should it be picked up.

-On Wednesday, July 3rd, TV Land will air “insider editions” of Hot in Cleveland, The Exes, and The Soul Man, where behind-the-scenes knowledge and factoids about the cast will pop on screen.

-The Big Brother live eviction episodes have been moved from Tuesdays to Thursdays, beginning July 11th. The show currently airs Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Sundays.

-GSN has renewed The Chase before its series premiere airs. The series, hosted by Brooke Burns, is a one-hour quiz show that finds teams of three competing to earn as much money as they can during 60-second quick-fire question rounds. They’re facing The Beast, a 6’7″, 370 lb. Oxford graduate who will be answering questions at the same time they are and attempting to pass them in number correct, thus preventing them from banking their money.

-FOX will be previewing its Animation Domination High-Def lineup in primetime on Sunday, July 21st, with showings of Axe Cop at 9:30 and High School USA! at 9:45 replacing an American Dad rerun. The lineup officially premieres on Saturday, July 27th at 11:00.

-HBO has made the first season of The Sopranos available on-demand following the death of star James Gandolfini. Subsequent seasons will follow each month.

-ABC has officially renewed Extreme Weight Loss for a fourth season, set to premiere next summer. Starting next season, each participant will spend the first 90 days of his or her weight loss journey  at the renowned University of Colorado’s Anschutz Health and Wellness Center in  Aurora, CO.
