Immediately after Forever comes Person of Interest, whose panel begins at 4:30. Jim Caviezel, Michael Emerson, Amy Acker, Kevin Chapman, and executive producer Greg Plageman will be answering questions about the CBS drama’s buzzed about third season and what to expect from the upcoming fourth season, which premieres Tuesday, September 23rd at 10:00.

Also slated for New York Comic-Con is a special screening of the second season premiere of CW drama The 100. The screening will take place Thursday, October 9th at 8:30, while the episode will have its television premiere Wednesday, October 22nd at 9:00.

Will you be going to New York Comic-Con? What other shows would you like to see paneled this year? How do you think broadcast genre shows will do this season?

With the show currently having a 16-episode order, it might be available on Netflix as early as February/March of next year.

“Gotham is the most anticipated new series of the fall season and we are thrilled to offer it to our members around the world,” said Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer at Netflix. “The Batman origin story is sure to have massive global appeal so it is fitting that, along with Warner Television, we have created a new model for distributing a show that international and domestic audiences will love.”

While certain series have their seasons uploaded to Netflix fairly quickly after their finales (e.g. the third season of Scandal was up on Netflix this past May), it’s quite unusual to have a Netflix deal in place this early in a show’s life. Gotham is the first series in recent memory to have this kind of deal before it premiered and one would think that this makes it a renewal certainty. If estimations of how much Netflix is paying per episode ($1.75 million) prove true, FOX has quite a bit of motivation to look over any flat ratings or middling buzz the show may generate, though it’s not quite a slam dunk for Gotham given that it’s not an in-house production for the network. Were Gotham a FOX production, this deal might as well have been a multi-season renewal; still, regardless of which company produces Gotham, if the show proves to be a success, look for more deals like this in the future, albeit only for “sure thing” projects.

Created by Bruno Heller (Rome), Gotham follows Detective James Gordon (Ben McKenzie) as he makes his way through the ranks at Gotham City’s police department. Along with partner Harvey Bullock (Donal Logue), Gordon begins looking into the high profile murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne, spurred on by his friendship with the couple’s son Bruce. In addition to McKenzie and Logue, Gotham stars Jada Pinkett Smith (Set It Off), Robin Lord Taylor (Accepted), and David Mazouz (Touch).

The series premiere of Gotham is set to air Monday, September 22nd at 8:00 on FOX. You can check out a series trailer below.

Will you be watching Gotham? Does this deal mean that you’ll wait to stream the show when it comes available through Netflix rather than watching it live? Do you think this deal means that the show is a lock for renewal?

Starring Ben McKenzie (Southland) as James Gordon, an idealistic rookie detective for the Gotham City Police Department Homicide Squad, the series begins with Gordon brought into the department to help work the murder case of Thomas and Martha Wayne. Along the way, and after meeting the Wayne’s young son Bruce, Gordon will have to deal with mob bosses and various future Gotham villains if he hopes to catch the killer and give Bruce the peace he deserves.

In addition to McKenzie, Gotham is set to star Donal Logue (Vikings) as Detective Harvey Bullock; David Mazouz (Touch) as young Bruce Wayne; Camren Bicondova (Battlefield America) as young Selina Kyle; Jada Pinkett Smith (Set It Off) as Fish Mooney; and Sean Pertwee (Elementary) as Alfred Pennyworth.

Gotham will air sometime next season on FOX. The series is one of several new dramas next season for FOX, joining the likes of character procedural Backstrom, comedic-leaning Red Band Society, and action-adventure romp Hieroglyph.

Will you be watching Gotham next season? How do you think the show will compare to the other comic-based series on the air? Is the approach of following young Bruce Wayne and young Selina Kyle interesting enough for you to tune in?

McKenzie will personify Detective James Gordon (eventually Commissioner Gordon) in Fox’s Batman prequel, which has garnered some attention since its announcement.

The buzzed-about series explores the origins of Gotham City’s most notable residents, including The Joker, The Penguin, and a young Batman, of course. Bruno Heller of The Mentalist penned the pilot script and will be serving as executive producer. Along side him will be Danny Cannon (Nikita, CSI), also executive producing, and directing out of Warner Bros. Television.

The series is described by Fox’s etertainment chairman Kevin Reilly as a “true origin story,” focusing on Gordon as well as Gotham’s most famous villains. Reilly has said that the show will be very serialized – not a “companion” show.

How the pilot – which has a series commitment attached – plays for the network should be interesting as they join their broadcast company in playing with programming of the sci-fi/fantasy/superhero genre. Albeit popular, it is hard to say how well Gotham could fare for Fox.

What do you think? Hit the comments!
