(So if you don’t want to spoil yourself on the events to come, it might not be wise to continue reading.) From potentially compromised election results to missing terrorists loose on the island to flashbacks into the downfall of a detective, the finales promise drama, resolution, and insight into characters we spend 22 episodes with every season. Given two-hour finales were Criminal Minds and Elementary, in addition to the bi-annual two-hour season finales of Survivor and The Amazing Race, each of whom will name their respective winner during their tense final minutes.

The original plan had been to move the show to Fridays after the second episode aired on Tuesdays, but the modest debut followed by a small drop convinced them to let the show air in one slot. While the numbers for Golden Boy haven’t exactly been breakout, they’ve been slightly higher than Vegas, which is now moving to Fridays beginning April 5th at 9:00.

This isn’t necessarily the end of Vegas, but the 60’s drama’s renewal chances are fairly slim at this point. There’s an off-chance that it could perform strongly enough to garner additional episodes; however, with the episode order being cut to 21, the slumping ratings, and the dissipated hype, the numbers it puts up on Fridays will have to be that much better to earn a renewal. The show entered the season with much being made about Quaid coming to TV and the vibe of the pilot being different than anything on the network, a real shot for CBS to embrace the idea of having a serialized prestige drama. Although it draws a pretty hefty audience, the show gradually turned embraced its procedural nature and its 18-49 demo rating has been less than stellar.

Golden Boy stars Theo James as an ambitious beat cop who becomes the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City and features Chi McBride, Kevin Alejandro, Bonnie Somerville, Holt McCallany, and Stella Maeve. Period drama Vegas, which debuted in the fall, tells the story of Ralph Lamb (Dennis Quaid), a cattle rancher appointed sheriff who has to deal with a Chicago mob boss. The show co-stars Michael Chiklis, Carrie-Anne Moss, Jason O’Mara, Taylor Handley and Sarah Jones.

Do you think that CBS made the right move in keeping Golden Boy on Tuesdays? Is this the final nail in the coffin of Vegas? If Vegas does get canceled, will CBS become more wary of straying from their (successful) formula?

The show follows the journey of Detective Walter Clark from ambitious cop to become the youngest police commissioner in the history of New York City, though as with all success on that level, it comes with a hefty price. The bold Clark has received a promotion to homicide detective after only three years as a beat cop and with that, the animosity of his new department. There’s a way that things work in the homicide division and all there have paid their dues in other positions in order to be provided the privilege in catching murderers; Clark has bypassed the system and in their eyes, taken a spot from a more qualified candidate who won’t hold back the rest of their department.

Listed below are the date, title, and description for the pilot episode of Golden Boy. Included is a link to watch the episode on CBS.com.
