The FX crime drama took home three awards, including Best Primetime Television Program, Best Actor/Television for Demian Bichir, and Best Supporting Actress for Catalina Sandino Moreno. Among the other notable winners on the television side were Devious Maids‘ Ana Ortiz for Best Actress/Television, Combate Americans for Best Variety or Reality Show, Chicago P.D.‘s Jon Seda for Best Supporting Actor/Television, and John Leguizamo’s Ghetto Klown for Best Primetime Special or Movie-of-the-Week.

]]> imagen awardsNominees for the 2014 Imagen Awards have been announced and on the television side, it was a strong showing for The Bridge and Devious Maids, in particular. The former, an FX crime drama that returns for its second season in July, garnered two supporting actress nods to go along with a series nomination, while the latter, in the home stretch of its second season, garnered nominations for all five of its lead actresses. Among the series that received multiple nominations were Looking, Chicago Fire, Switched at Birth, Law & Order: SVU, and Chicago P.D..

It was the only series to score multiple wins at the ceremony, honoring positive portrayals of Latinos and Latin culture in entertainment, as The Glades, Switched at Birth, and Chicago Fire all earned one victory apiece. Elsewhere in the television categories, a special dedicated to recently deceased pop star Jenni Rivera took home Best Primetime Program: Special or Movie-of-the-Week, Oprah’s Next Chapter won Best National Informational Program, and HBO’s 24/7 Chavez-Martinez beat out the likes of The Voice and Project Runway for Best Variety or Reality Series. Rounding out the television winners at the 28th annual ceremony, which also awards film and the internet, are Austin & Ally’s Raini Rodriguez and Handy Manny.
