Napoleon Dynamite

The comedy centers on a mother (Jane Kaczmarek) who shocks her 30-something son with a new marriage after being single for two decades.  Plus, her new husband is bringing home his own three children.

Heder will be playing Richard, her son, who is described as a “rare combination of intense intelligence and sloth-like underachiever.”

The role marks Heder’s first role as a series regular on television since Fox’s animated remake series based on Napoleon Dynamite.  His other credits include: Robot Chicken, My Name Is Earl, and Dead Grandma.

Earlier this week JAG‘s David James Elliot was announced as Kaczmarek’s character’s new husband.

Elliot will be playing the role of Mike, a manly-man type of widower who marries Kaczmareck’s character and moves into her place along with his three children.  Thus, upsetting the comfortable – ahem – cushy life of her thirty something son, who still lives at home.

Brendan Meyer (Canadian, Mr. Young) and Peter DaCunha (Reign) have also been cast as two of Mike’s kids.

The multi-cam comedy will be executive-produced by Johnny Galecki (The Big Bang Theory), Ricky Blitt (Family Guy) and Stephen McPherson.

David James Elliot’s TV credits also include: Close to Home, The Guard, and most recently ABC’s GCB.
