American Horror Story: Freak Show: Watch the Opening Credits Here

FX has released the opening sequence for the upcoming season of American Horror Story and in keeping with the Freak Show concept, the main theme song has been fused with circus music to form something that might be the most foreboding introduction to a season yet. Last season’s title sequence answered the central question (“Who’s the next supreme?”) that it spent 13 episodes examining, so there should be clues about the direction of the season embedded in the 1:12 clip, some likely having to do with the clowns found lurking around the freak show.

Set in the 1950s, American Horror Story: Freak Show focuses on one of the last remaining freak shows in America, as it travels to sleepy Jupiter, Florida. However, once the performers get their bearings in this decidedly different environment, they realize that a dark presence, something or someone who means to do them all harm, has followed them to town. The performers must band together and, along with the Jupiter townsfolk, find a way to defeat this looming darkness or else lose their livelihood, and their lives themselves, in the process.

The fourth season of American Horror Story is set to star Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Angela Basset, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Michael Chiklis, Evan Peters, and Emma Roberts.

American Horror Story: Freak Show premieres Wednesday, October 8th at 10:00 with a 90-minute episode.

American Horror Story: Freak Show: Watch Eight More Teasers Here

FX has released an additional eight teasers for the upcoming season of American Horror Story, ranging from a three-legged trapeze artist to a nasty surprise being found in a nearby tent. As always, American Horror Story teasers aren’t necessarily directly translated from the season, i.e. some of these will be more about setting the tone for the season, purported to be darker than Coven, and providing startling imagery to amp up anticipation for Freak Show.

Taking place in the 1950s, American Horror Story: Freak Show follows a traveling carnival as it pulls into the sleepy hamlet of Jupiter, Florida. However, the troupe of performers find more than they bargained for when a dark force begins terrorizing them and the rest of the Jupiter population. The season is said to document the survival of the performers and how they combat the dark force that’s beset itself upon them.

Slated to appear in American Horror Story: Coven are Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Angela Bassett, Frances Conroy, Evan Peters, Denis O’Hare, Emma Roberts, and Michael Chiklis.

The first nine teasers for American Horror Story: Freak Show have been released by FX and among them are a terrifying clown, a death-defying sword swallower, and a contortionist seemingly made of rubber. As with each season of American Horror Story, the Freak Show teasers aren’t necessarily indicative of characters that will be present during the season, as some will inevitably be more about theme and mood than character.

Set in Jupiter, Florida, American Horror Story: Freak Show begins when a traveling carnival arrives in town. Along with the band of oddities comes a dangerous, blanketing evil that sets itself upon the sleepy hamlet and immediately puts both the performers and those who come to watch them in jeopardy. The season is said to chronicle the performers’ fight for survival and the ways they combat this other worldly force that threatens not only their way of life, but their lives themselves.

American Horror Story: Freak Show is set to star three-time Emmy winner Jessica Lange, three-time Emmy nominee Sarah Paulson, two-time Emmy winner Kathy Bates, two-time Emmy nominee Angela Bassett, and six-time Emmy nominee Frances Conroy, along with the likes of Michael Chiklis, Denis O’Hare, Evan Peters, and Emma Roberts. The series follows haunted house-set Murder House, period drama Asylum, and witchy henhouse Coven.

During last night’s episode of The Strain, FX aired the first extended trailer for American Horror Story: Freak Show, the fourth incarnation of the Emmy-winning anthology series.

Set in Jupiter, Florida, American Horror Story: Freak Show follows the exploits of a traveling circus that blows into town just as a dark entity sets itself upon the sleepy hamlet. The lives of the performers, the residents of the town, and those who choose to attend the circus are all in danger, with Freak Show to chronicle the struggle between good and evil and the ways that those who manage to survive escape the clutches of this other worldly force.

American Horror Story: Freak Show to Premiere October 8th

FX has announced that the fourth season of American Horror Story, subtitled Freak Show, is set to premiere Wednesday, October 8th at 10:00.

Set in Jupiter, Florida, American Horror Story: Freak Show finds a traveling carnival arriving in town just as a dark entity sets itself upon the sleepy hamlet. The lives of both performer and Jupiter citizen alike are threatened by this new entity, with Freak Show chronicling the battle with this evil and how those who did survive manage to escape its clutches. This season of American Horror Story will feature Emmy winner Jessica Lange, Emmy nominee Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Emmy nominee Frances Conroy, Emmy nominee Angela Bassett, Emmy nominee Denis O’Hare, and Emmy winner (for The Shield)Michael Chiklis, among others.

American Horror Story: Coven, which recently received 17 Emmy nominations, having won two awards during the Creative Arts ceremony recently, averaged 7.1 million Total Viewers and 5 million Adults 18-49, ranking it among the Top 20 shows in all of television (broadcast and cable) and Top 5 in cable in delivery of Adults 18-49. However, Freak Show is said to go darker in tone and in content than the decidedly campier Coven, which told the story of a witchy boarding school and the battle for power that it housed.
