From Mike O’Malley (Shameless), Survivor’s Remorse follows basketball phenom Cam Calloway as he realizes his dream of playing in the pros. However, the excitement that Cam feels about living the life he always wanted and being able to help the community that always supported him is tempered by the greedy family members and calculating groupies that he suddenly finds himself surrounded by. Along with his cousin Reggie, Cam must navigate a world he thought he knew and realize that the life of a professional basketball player is a lot different than he expected.

Executive produced by four-time NBA MVP LeBron James, Survivor’s Remorse stars Jessie T. Usher (When the Game Stands Tall), RonReaco Lee (Sister, Sister), Erica Ash (Scary Movie 5), Tichina Arnold (Everybody Hates Chris), and Mike Epps (Being Mary Jane).

Survivor’s Remorse is set to premiere Saturday, October 4th at 9:00 on Starz. Based on the novel by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie and written/directed by playwright Biyi Bandele, Half of a Yellow Sun follows sisters Olanna (Thandie Newton) and Kainene (Anika Noni Rose) as their lives diverge once they return to Nigeria from a stint in England. While Olanna defies her family by going to live with lover Odenigbo (Chiwetel Ejiofor), Kainene becomes a fiercely successful businesswoman who falls in love with an English writer. The two get wrapped up in the events of the Nigerian Civil War, with the film focusing on how the conflict between the Igbo and the Biafra changed the lives of Olanna and Kainene and how a single betrayal can change a relationship forever.

Half of a Yellow Sun, which first premiered at last year’s Toronto International Film Festival before debuting in the UK, Lagos, and Nigeria this year, also stars Onyeka Onwemu (Mama), Genevieve Nnaji (The Mirror Boy), Joseph Mawle (Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter), John Boyega (Attack the Block), and Hakeem Kae-Kazim (Black Sails).

Created by Seth MacFarlane (Family Guy) and Jonathan Ames (Bored to Death), Blunt Talk stars Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation) as Walter Blunt, an infrequently sober media figure who arrives in America looking to reach the peak of cable news. However, it”s not as easy a venture as online casino canada he might have expected, as Blunt must deal with overbearing executives, an unqualified news staff, and a messy personal life that will cause him to take his eye off the ball on more than one occasion. The series also stars Adrian Scarborough (The King”s Speech) as Walter”s manservant Harry.

In addition to her role in the 2010 crime drama, Weaver has appeared in the likes of Silver Linings Playbook, Stoker, and The Five-Year Engagement. She”ll be portraying mysterious Susan Wright on Gracepoint, FOX”s upcoming adaptation of crime drama Broadchurch, later this fall.

Blunt Talk is set to premiere on Starz next year. The series will be one of several 2015 debuts for the premiere cable network, including ballet drama Flesh and Bone, anthology The Girlfriend Experience, and farming drama One Percent.

One Percent is the latest series pickup from Starz, which has looked to expand its scripted presence in recent years. In addition to already renewed Black Sails, Da Vinci’s Demons, and Power, the network is responsible for Outlander, upcoming basketball comedy Survivor’s Remorse, and upcoming thriller The Missing. One Percent joins a growing list of 2015 newcomers for the premium network that includes ballet drama Flesh and Bone and Seth MacFarlane-produced comedy Blunt Talk, the latter of which stars Patrick Stewart.

In addition to Helms, One Percent is set to star two-time Oscar winner Hilary Swank (Boys Don’t Cry) as Alfred’s wife Laura and four-time Oscar nominee Ed Harris (A Beautiful Mind) as Murphy family patriarch Nathaniel. Harris also recently signed on to HBO drama Westworld, which, if it goes to series, could have an impact on the size of his role on One Percent.

Created by Harry and Jack Williams (Roman’s Empire, Full English) and directed by Tom Shankland (Ripper Street), The Missing follows Tony Hughes (James Nesbitt), a father whose five-year-old son Oliver goes missing while on vacation. Desperate to locate his son, Tony enlists the help of a local detective in his quest to bring those responsible for Oliver’s disappearance to justice, no matter the cost. Even if it means fracturing his marriage beyond repair and losing what sanity he’s managed to hang on to since Oliver disappeared.

The Missing will be the second fall series for Starz, as basketball comedy Survivor’s Remorse begins its six-episode run in October. The network has amped up their number of scripted hours in 2014 and should continue that well into 2015, thanks to the success of Power, Black Sails, and Da Vinci’s Demons and upcoming projects Blunt Talk and Flesh and Bone. Given the success of The White Queen and the fact that The Missing is a co-production with BBC, it seems likely that at least one international series will premiere on Starz sometime within the next calendar year, as well.

In addition to Hughes, The Missing stars Tcheky Karyo (Goldeneye), Frances O’Connor (Mr. Selfridge), Arsher Ali (Four Lions), Titus De Voogt (Any Way the Wind Blows), and Anamaria Marinca (4 Weeks, 3 Months and 2 Days).

The network also revealed that comedy Survivor’s Remorse, their first attempt at original scripted comedy since Gravity in 2010, will premiere Saturday, October 4th at 9:00. The six-episode series tells the story of Cam Calloway, a talented basketball player who makes it to the pros. However, instead of being able to bask in the glow of a dream fulfilled, Calloway is forced to deal with the negatives that go along with being a professional athlete, including opportunistic friends. Executive produced by the likes of LeBron James, Maverick Carter, and showrunner Mike O’Malley, Survivor’s Remorse stars Jessie T. Usher (Level Up), Ronreaco Lee (Let’s Stay Together), Erica Ash (MADtv), Tichina Arnold (Martin), and Mike Epps (Being Mary Jane).

Finally, Starz released the first trailer for upcoming drama The Missing, which doesn’t have a concrete premiere date as of yet. A co-production between Starz and BBC, The Missing stars James Nesbitt (The Hobbit) as Tony, a man devastated by the abduction of his young son. He soon becomes obsessed with the boy’s disappearance, with his marriage suffering and his life threatening to cave in on itself. Written by Harry and Jack Williams (Honest) and directed by Tom Shankland (Ripper Street), The Missing stars Frances O’Connor (Mr. Selfridge), Jason Flemyng (The Curious Case of Benjamin Button), Arsher Ali (Four Lions), Tcheky Karyo (The Patriot), and Ken Stott (Rebus).

Starz Managing Director Carmi Zlotnik said, “American Gods is a project that deserves to be made.  With our partners at FremantleMedia and with Bryan, Michael and Neil, we believe we can create a series that honors the book and does right by the fans and viewers.”

Previously in development at HBO, American Gods documents a brewing war between old gods (those with biblical and mythological roots) and new gods (money, technology, media, celebrity, and drugs), with ex-con Shadow Moon becoming the traveling partner to conman Mr. Wednesday. The pilot script will be penned by Bryan Fuller (Hannibal) and Michael Green (Kings), with FreemantleMedia (The Returned) set to produce.

Starz has steadily been beefing up their scripted slate in recent months, having picked up The Missing, Flesh and Bone, Blunt Talk, Survivor’s Remorse, and The Girlfriend Experience to series. The network has already renewed Black Sails, Da Vinci’s Demons, and Power for 2015, with Outlander to premiere this August.

Based on the Steven Soderbergh film of the same name, The Girlfriend Experience is said to explore the relationships of the most exclusive courtesans who provide their clients with far more than just sex. The series, which will presumably premiere sometime in 2015, is the latest new series order for Starz, as the network looks to increase its number of scripted hour. Set to premiere in 2015 are ballet drama Flesh and Bone and comedy Blunt Talk, with comedy Survivor’s Remorse to premiere this fall; new seasons of Black Sails, Da Vinci’s Demons, and Power are also on the Starz docket for 2015.

The anthology series has seen something of a renaissance in recent years with the success of American Horror Story, True Detective, and Fargo, though all three are seasonal anthologies (one complete story told in one season) rather than episodic anthologies (one complete story told in one episode) like The Girlfriend Experience seems to be. The success of The Girlfriend Experience might end up going a long way toward expanding the type of anthology that can be aired on American television and open up the format to all sorts of new ideas and permutations.

Outlander centers on Claire (Caitriona Balfe), a married British combat nurse from 1945 who mysteriously travels back in time to 1743 Scotland, where she finds herself torn between her husband Frank Randall (Tobias Menzies) and a Scottish warrior who comes to her rescue, Jamie Fraser (Sam Heughan).

The sixteen-episode first season is currently shooting in Scotland.
