]]> scandalThe NAACP Image Awards were handed out on Saturday night and on the television side, the big winner was ABC political soap Scandal, which took home three awards. In addition to winning Outstanding Drama Series over the likes of The Good Wife and Boardwalk Empire, the series earned Kerry Washington her fifth career Image Award and her on screen father Joe Morton honors for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series. Real Husbands of Hollywood and Being Mary Jane picked up their respective series categories and one acting win each, while The Game earned acting nods for Wendy Raquel Robinson and Brandy Norwood. Series that picked up at least one win included Southland, Criminal Minds, Luther, Person of Interest, and Nurse Jackie.

]]> naacpNominees for the 45th NAACP Image Awards were announced on Thursday and leading the way was BET’s Real Husbands of Hollywood, which picked up seven nominations in total, four of which were for acting. The comedy, a partially scripted parody of the Real Housewives franchise, recently completed its second season. On the drama side, Shonda Rhimes had an especially good day, as Scandal and Grey’s Anatomy combined for nine nominations between them, with both making it into Outstanding Drama Series. Other multiple nominees included Treme, Boardwalk Empire, The Game, Being Mary Jane, The Soul Man, and Southland.

You can check out a full list of nominees for the 45th NAACP Image Awards here. The awards, meant to recognize the achievements of individuals of color in film, television, music, and literature, will be handed out Saturday, February 22nd at 9:00 on TV One.
