]]> Born to a contractor father and state Internet researcher in Austin, Texas, Amber Laura Heard always knew that her true calling was show business, so at the age of 17, she dropped out of high school and moved to New York to pursue modeling, as she considered it an easier ticket out of town than immediately pursuing acting. After appearing in music videos for Kenny Chesney’s “She Thinks My Tractor’s Sexy” and Eisley’s “I Wasn’t Prepared”, the blonde beauty quickly earned roles in the episodes of Jack & Bobby, The O.C., and The Mountain before transitioning to a film career, the medium she’s primarily worked in for the last decade. Known for her roles as sexualized teenagers, her first series regular role came on 2007 CW soap Hidden Palms as secretive beauty Greta Matthews, though the summer series only lasted eight total episodes. A fan of muscle cars and a regular on FHM’s and Maxim’s rankings of the sexiest women of the year, the former Texas line-dancer has called her time as rumored real life boyfriend Johnny Depp’s love interest in 2011’s The Rum Diary the best experience of her life. Her last regular television role came as Bunny Maureen on NBC’s 2011 period drama The Playboy Club, which was canceled after three episodes of low ratings and inflated controversy. The American actress is actively involved with Amnesty International, a nonprofit focused on people fighting injustice and promoting human rights, and recently appeared in a commercial meant to promote the Guess Girl fragrance for spring/summer 2013.
