From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is said to deepen and expand the storyline presented in the original film, adding new characters and delving into the Mesoamerican mythology behind the creatures inside the club. Emmy winner Greg Nicotero will be in charge of make-up effects for the series, while Joe Menendez (Imagination Movers, Big Time Rush) and Eduardo Sanchez (The Blair Witch Project, V/H/S/2) are among those slated to direct episodes. Nikita‘s Carlos Coto will act as showrunner for the 10-episode first season.

In addition to Cotrona and Holtz, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series is set to star Adrianne Palicki (Friday Night Lights), Don Johnson (Nash Bridges), Madison Davenport (Shameless), Robert Patrick (True Blood), Wilmer Valderrama (Awake), and Jesse Garcia (Sons of Anarchy).

Based on the 1996 film that starred George Clooney, Juliette Lewis, and Quentin Tarrantino, From Dusk Till Dawn: The Series tells the story of a bank robber and his brother who are wanted by the FBI and Texas Rangers following a botched robbery that left more than one person dead. The two take a minister and his family hostage with the hopes of using their RV to make it to Mexico and out of the reach of the American judicial system, but they end up in a strip club populated by vampires. If the group manages to make it to sunrise, they’ll get out of the club with the lives, but that’s easier said than done. The series will reportedly add new characters to the film’s mythology, in addition to delving into the Mesoamerican origins of the club creatures and deepening the tone of the film it’s based on.

In addition to his breakthrough role as Fez on the FOX teen comedy, Valderrama has appeared on the likes of Awake, Raising Hope, and Suburgatory. He joins a cast that includes D.J. Cotrona (Detroit 1-8-7), Don Johnson (Nash Bridges), Robert Patrick (True Blood), Madison Davenport (Shameless), and Brandon Soo Hoo (Supah Ninjas).
